Honestly wouldn't be leaving a review with 5 stars if I didn't think think this app was amazing and certainly worth the pocket change they are asking. I use night shift every night and between my eyes not bleeding from the lack of in depth brightness controls my phone doesn't come with and waking my wife up from my phone being to bright while I stay up awhile longer reading stuff online it's the balls to say the least.
Worth it. Money well-spent. Lowering to a 4 because it sometimed flashes bright when switching from one app to another - quite unpleasant. Hope bug gets fixed
A month ago, this would have been a 5 star review, but something has changed and when the filter is engaged, the rest of the phone is not able to be used (the touch filter or something has gone weird). Around the same time, I noticed that the app icon changed. There is a similarly named app with the old logo, but the upgrade I made to the pro version does not work there. I emailed the company and they responded with an email that indicated they had not even read mine. Hard pass on this one.
I have used this app every night for many months. I absolutely love it. However, recently, I can no longer click "sensetive information" like log-ins, installing or updating apps, etc. because it detects the overlay. According to the official help page, there is not a fix. You have to turn off the filter, click what you want, then turn the filter back on. This is incredibly inefficient and it is sad because this was such a great app.
I like the app as it keeps the blue light to a minimum - a feature I find particularly useful in the evenings, and in low light conditions in general. It makes falling asleep watching videos all too easy. Developers might wanna offer some extra functionality or move some of the free functions behind a pay wall as right now I have no reason to pay. I'm definitely not complaining, just mentioning this out of consideration for the devs of the app!
I regret buying it. I was optimistic that the devs would fix the issue with the notification bar. The whole point of an app like this is so that you can check your phone in the middle of the night without exposing your eyes to blue light, which wakes you all the way up. But if the notification pull down isn't covered, it greatly defeats the purpose.
Simple and effective. You can adjust the level of blue, but I find I like the settings that are there. It makes a huge difference in your ability to relax and does not interfere with the quality of your reading experience. It has been compatible with the sites I use to get books (primarily books from Amazon's kindle unlimited. I use it on my Android S7 and my Galaxy tablet E. I bought the pro version for. 99. Best 99cents I ever spent.
The filter choices are good but despite the schedule, it's off most of the time Then, it comes on when it pleases and you can't turn it off! I have uninstalled and restarted my phone and it's STILL ON AND I CAN'T TURN IT OFF!!!! I have restarted three times and powered down and back on. Initially, the light is natural but within 2 minutes this AWFUL APP comes on again!! I may reinstall and uninstall This is HORRIBLE!!! Well, even that DID NOT WORK!! Can anyone help???
Truly life-changing for those with migraines! Instead of lying in the dark, with nothing to do but think about how much your head hurts, you can actually use your devices even through the worst of the migraine. I turn on the Med setting with the first symptoms and change to Dark mode as they get worse. If you buy the app, there's a super dark mode; I rarely need it, but if you tend to have severe light sensitivity, you'll probably want it. Overall, this is the single best app I've ever gotten.
This is a great screen filter app with a complete set of features, customisation & very nice UI, however it's missing 1 crucial feature for me, that is a shortcut to toggle using different apps like Tasker. I would like to auto toggle on a per app basis but without a shortcut I cannot do this, shame really as everything else is perfect. Thanks
Awesome app, worth the pro version to remove ads, however I wish the app had the ability to sync with all my Google devices. Also, app advertises it supports 10 inch tablets yet it can't even auto rotate the UI based on my device orientation?? If these things mentioned were addressed, I would be happy to re-rate at 5 stars.
Useful app and I use it every night. It is very helpful when I can't get to sleep. I would risk waking up the others with the glare from my un-dimmed screen I would pay 10 times over for the pro version. Thankfully, I only need pay a single time to receive the benefit of this app which allows me to use my phone without waking the creatures in my home who are frequently bothersome or dangerous in the night. Best blue light blocker ever has been godsend buy it and support the developers. Yes!
This app is a life saver for me! I have intractable, chronic migraine. Tv's, computer screens, even phone screens are immediate migraine triggers, especially in a dimly lit room. I have this app on my phone and tablet and it's great! I especially like that you can schedule a settings change. A bit brighter for daytime and darker at night and none that harmful blue light that is a migrainer's kryptonite!
Worth paying a few bucks for the Pro version to remove the ads. Simple app to control luminosity and tint, possibility to save presets and apply them at specific days/time. Good for the eyes and avoids getting blind when looking at your phone during the night! Great app, I recommend it :)
No ads, easy to use. Just get it. I had a $2 Google play credit and used it to get this app to make sleep easier. Can't be happier regarding functionality but maybe a few tips would be helpful for making specific selections of tint colors and such. The has been a few months and I removed a star because I keep getting prompted to leave a review.
My eyes are very sensitive so I like to have my screen as dim as possible so it's not just for blue filter. However when I scroll down the notification bar or get pop up notifications etc. the screen turns back to its normal brightness and blue light. This app is pointless! The blue light filter in the system software is better.
I really like it a lot. My doctor recommended a blue light filter for my phone and this one is the best in my opinion. I like the modes AND they are customizable. Also they are a good balance of pleasing colors and doesn't give you the feeling of a shadow.
Gr8. Like it puts out strain out of eyes. Was giving muscle tension and eye dizziness on new phone. It's starting to get reduced. Whoah, specially watching parallex live wallpaper, was big headaches on blue light.Though, it's been filterd away, lost the actually quality view. 'LL get used to it. For safety of eyes.
Pro ver. was well worth the money. The schedule feature is quite priceless and you can't see it until you start using it. I'm not saying it changed my life etc but it's really REALLY useful - and I say it quite rarely. Great job guys!
Nice, polished, easy app. My main reason for switching to Night Shift was that my old app didn't auto toggle the filter off when other apps gave permission prompts (which would give an error). Also very happy about the pause function.
Often need to disable this app when it goes to night mode because buttons on random apps just stop working. Like many of the functions in the app store simply don't respond. For example after writing this review the Google store asked me if I wanted to write more reviews. Neither button worked (write more reviews or exit....I couldn't exit without turning off night shift!)
great app for night readers. I have an Android phone that gave then took away a blue light filter. Luckily, the creators of this app are good people and I have a good filter once again! Takes some customization, but worth the price! Good...Night. Don't let dark mode fool you.
Been looking for a blue light filter for a while, although I have one preinstalled on my Galaxy S9 but it's not very customisable, and has only one colour,This app is brilliant,Extremly easy to use,its easy to customise, simple menu.I done my own filter within 2 mins.Blue light is bad for your eyes,I spend alot of time looking at my phone, and realised I was doing alot of harm to myself. So hat off to the developers.Great piece of software.Great price too (price of magazine).Thank you.
Gotta hand it to these developers. Update works like a charm. My vision would become impaired before I got a blue blocker and this one is the best. Blue light will damage retinal nerves as I understand. This ez to install vision saving app solved the problem for me. The pro version was a great buy. I rarely leave reviews but I need to say thank you to developers somehow. So this review is my thank you.
I really dislike the new icon with the crown. It is terrible. I don't like an icon on my desktop screaming "I'm the best!". It's disturbing. (Yes, I can change the apps' icon, but not the widget's icon) The previous icon was nice and pleasant. The app works well and does what it should. Good quality. . By the way. Why are there two Pro apps????
Best blue light filter I could find for Android 8. Missing: app exemptions (e.g. don't filter Google Maps in navigation mode, or video players); Beta versions for the Pro edition.
Immediately purchased this application because I can finally not get a horrible headach from reading the countless messages I receive from my wife throughout the day. Unfortunately it's not as effective when she eventually comes home to pick up where the nerve cringing text have left off. Add something to filter that in a future update and I'll draw in a 6th star!!
this app has helped my straining eyes in the dark. my phone's brightness doesn't go low enough. the blue light kept me awake all night. this app helped me fix my sleep schedule. i have recommended it to all of my friends and they love it too. the ultra dark was worth paying for.
get this app! it has good preset filters but you can make your own with a few clicks, dimness, patina, etc. what is great is that you can turn it on anytime from your pull-down menu! it's simple and light-weight but very customizable. get it! EDIT April, 2021: I have several document/reading apps (Xodo, Read Era, & others) that I keep as “daytime” 'cause I would rather use this app to ease my eyes (I'm fussy about my Sepia). This is still the best.
