Update: I've been using Blur for a few years now, and it's simultaneously great and bad at the same time. Were the functions working as intended, this would be the best password manager out there. However, autofill is inferior to LastPass. Often I have to combine password and email/username credentials manually. The biggest flaw, though, is that sometimes I just stop receiving emails sent to a masked address for hours/days. I've had it eat messages I send, as well. That's flat out unacceptable.
Back to not working at all from barely working. Was hoping for a functional update. I use it all the time and is only missing a secure note feature where you can just write things to store free form. Like a note pad I can keep my other info in would complete this app for me.
Prior to major UI update - 5 stars. Since then - 2 stars at most. The app used to be fantastic, and I recomended it to everyone. Now it's ugly, clunky, glitchy, and the ONLY reason I don't switch to something else is because of how dependant I am on it. I'm also a Systems Engineer, FWIW.
Have used this app both on desktop and tablet versions for a number of years. Saved me a lot of time and effort trying to remember passwords and sign in information. I agree that recently there seems to be an issue on tablet platform auto filling log in and password - a mild inconvenience. I look forward to engineers finding a way to fix this. Overall this is an excellent tool . Thank you Blur!
EDIT: New update even worse. Doesn't integrate with anything anymore. Copies "Password" instead of the password! Previous update seems to have broken Chrome integration. Doesn't pop up when I want it making this very tedious to use. It also looks terrible. The smooth, pretty UI is gone, replaced by what is essentially just lists of info. It's a terrible replacement for the older app. I have a copy of the apk and will be downgrading. Longtime premium member hoping this gets ironed out soon.
It's come far, but it's still glitchy AF! The menu buttons for masked cards and for app settings error out and an alert pops up that something went wrong and to try again later, to no avail. Also, the help section is a minute collection of 5 FAQs that don't come near to detailing how to read the masked phone log. The trackerI submitted support tickets regarding all this with mre detail.
What was once a half decent app is now utter garbage. Ugly interface, and broken features. There are far better alternatives. Blur has outlived its usefulness in my eyes.
Loved it, but waiting for account input without copying and pasting and swapping apps back and forth to come back. Even tho the description says it was added back the functionality still isn't there. Will update when feature returns
I'm giving a bad rating, since one of the first things I tried to do was put in a backup passphrase, and it wouldn't let me enter anything. Not even a field for the phrase. I might amend the rating later, depending on my experience.
Doesn't auto fill and is very buggy the past year or so. I'm cancelling my subscription if it doesn't start working
Been using Blur for several years and loved it. But now autofill on Android no longer works for any application on my Galaxy S8. Abine support provided link to old version but it's not on Google Play so I will pass on non-vetted version. For what that's worth! Will wait a little before jumping to another product. I use it on win10 pro and home, android, ipad air 1 (no auto fill), chromebook, iPhone 11, galaxytab 12.
Very good, but list order is difficult to change in app and always reverts to default. New: annoying notifications every hour or so with no message, ie blank.
What have you done? Having gone through all the unnecessary nonsense of re-authorising my device and setting up biometrics, this new version does the square root of bugger all. It doesn't fill user ids or passwords; I have to go to the (already open) app to copy and paste the data; it doesn't offer to create a masked account or email, or auto-generate a password. EDIT: 29/10 & 4/11 UPDATES INSTALLED - THEY FIXED NOTHING. I'm done with what is now just useless bloatware.
Been using Blur for the last 3 years. Liked it so much I bought the lifetime subscription but, this last update has made the app useless. It won't sync my account therefore not loading any of my accounts/passwords. Been using the web version but it would be nice to use the app. You would think as long as the old "beta" version was around (that worked fine) you wouldn't have this problem when you just change the UI of the app. Come on Abine...
I wanted to like this app and service but... it is very frustrating to use and there is a large learning curve. I tried out a few functions including masking the credit card and email address and phone number. Of course I also used it to have it learn my passwords and fill in forms for me. It seemed that if I didn't have the app actively on, it failed to fill in my passwords and user name or email info. Every time I wanted to enter a site I would wait for blur to activate. It was slow or didn't work at all until I opened up the app. It seemed to do better on my computer, but within apps, not so much. I paid for premium service but I was charged a lesser amount for some reason. No problem with that! For now, I'm just going to disable it and go with a different service. It's a great idea and once they work out a few more bugs I may be back.
Masking your credit card while shopping online is a great feature. My Credit Card Company just decided to stop offering the option!! - So glad to have this App!! Security is MORE needed, not less...carry on! Update: Bought the Premium for the sync feature. That's fine, but the Pop up dialog box shows up in places I don't need it sometimes..and won't get out of the way 😒. Also the fingerprint sign in does NOT work consistently
Really great app for password management. I remember having tried the ghost phone number feature when I was under the premium trial version, and it was very useful and worked perfectly as well. Didn't really feel the need or want to become a premium member because the interface and some UX aspects could be improved by quite a lot. But if we all just keep using the free version and don't invest a tiny bit in this top notch privacy software/app that doesn't look like it, then will it ever?
Such a Waste of Money. I paid for a subscription for one purpose, the feature to mask credit cards. Never got it to work once. Error after error. Paid for the full year and can't use it. Also you should know, you'll have to pay an additional fee above the service for every time you mask the credit card. I think it's for the merchant fees, which would be understandable, but I didn't feel that was clearly disclosed before paying for the subscription. For me, didn't matter since didn't work.
Downloaded for the masked cards functionality and I love it! Comes in handy when you want to sign up for another company's "trial period" but don't want to give out your actual card info. In the end, even at the cost of a premium Blur subscription, I wil end up saving a lot of money over the next year with all the trials I don't get charged for simply because I failed to go back in and cancel on time.
Update January 2020 Don't bother with this app if you are using any browser than Chrome as it is not supported properly. It fails to detect the right domain for most websites when not using Chrome causing all sorts of trouble. I thought it was some sort of a bug but it was confirmed as a feature not supported with an unknown timeline on when it will be supported.
Blur has been my go-to password manager for years. The premium service is great since it syncs all my logins from computer to phone & vis versa. But since upgrading my phone to Android 12 none of the apps features works with Chrome. Once you get this fixed I will change to 5 stars. But until then it defeats the purpose of paying the premium subscription fee for an app that doesn't work as it should on my phone.
I love the functionality and options. I don't need to use them all, but the ones I do I use regularly, and prefer living with this resource than without. I subscribe annually and whenever I've had issues I get prompt communications and resolutions. This app is a refined version of the original web service, which had a different name. I found value in the service even back then, and this version is notably improved, primarily with the availability of this app. This is my longest review ever!
Useful app and it has a free version! Easy to use. The UI is quite simple. Unfortunately, the full features and premium subscription available in the USA only. Anyway for the rest of the planet may still use the free version. Just install the app and you are good to go! 🙃👍 If the user have any problem or questions just send a bug report or email (thanks Lisnel) and they will help you out. 5⭐ for them. Believe me!
Works pretty good on a laptop. I like the masked email feature. Blur sometimes doesn't recognise that I have saved log in details , which is quite frustrating and then have to go into Blur to copy and paste because it won't autofill. Quite frustrating when creating a password. And then have to find it in the accounts list , seems no mechanism of recent created passwords and the time it was done. Also when creating an account it asks to fill in a password but won't create one for you.
False advertising. Images & video do not reflect the appearance or functionality of the Android app. Maybe it's the iOS app? Becuase the android one certainly doesn't have the look or functionality advertised. No keyboard integration, as shown in video, instead there's a large box popup with login options. App integration never works. The Android app has needed a major image and functionality overhaul for years.
The developers seem aware but the app is totally broken. I love it and I'll offer my 5 star back when it's fixed. In the meantime use an alternative app store to get a working, previous version. Only switched to a 1 star because I just renewed iirc and I can't believe this wasn't tested properly where it may have avoided totally dropping accessibility services for one? I'll be happy to delete and reinstate my 5 star when this is fixed. I will say I liked the more minimalist interface.
Used to be great a few years back, then it broke in an update. Since then they have promised a working update over and over and I was hopeful of this recent one. Unfortunately I can't get it's autofill feature to work, support is slow and last time they recommended I install the old working app from long ago. The documentation is fully missing for anything updated for Android. Too bad. Time to move on I guess.
