BMW Connected North America

I enjoy the app for its ability to remotely unlock the doors, flash the lights, honk the horn and ventilate the interior. I also like how it displays a picture of your BMW with the amount of gas you have in your tank and the number of miles you can travel. It also does a great job of locating your car, and allowing you to enter addresses into your gps. I would give this app 5 stars but the following is why I gave it only three stars: The app automatically comes on every time you turn on your car, takes over your phone screen and requires you to agree to terms and then authenticate before you can easily get to your other apps. I wish they would fix it so that your BMWs bluetooth could be a trusted device that would allow the app to automatically load in the background. or foreground if you choose instead of forcing it to the front all of the time. I think it does too much by trying to be the primary screen for media on your phone because it's too limited in function to be usable as a media front end. The app autostarting combined with having to authenticate is frustratingly dangerous especially when it pops up while driving. Please make this optional so that i dont have to uninstall the app....Pleeeaaassseee

just as bad as the iOS version. i switched from an iPhone to an Android device. There is no change in the range of issues. The car can be found, but i still cannot establish a connection to precondition, climatize, worse, the android version cannot tell me if the windows are open. The app isnt accurate in stating when full charge is achieved. i guess i will just try, at random, the precondition function. there may be a day I will be pleasantly surprised.

It only engages climate function about 1/2 the time, and there should be an option to turn it off from the app if you climatize then decide not to leave. I also feel like you should be able to do more than just set a destination. How about set the actual temperature, pick the music, etc? Tesla is the good standard, BMW has a lot of room for improvement.

The app itself on Android doesn't let you do a whole lot. You can unlock your car, find your car (which takes a while), and start ventilation, but that's about it. It also randomly stopped communicating with my phone to let me know my average speed and fuel consumption, and I can't seem to get it to work. This is on two phones and also uninstalling and reinstalling the apps and Bluetooth connections Update: Thank you for replying, BMW. This is with the phone connected via USB to to the port in the center console.

The good part about this app is that it tells me the status of the vehicle (mileage, locked/unlocked, miles to E, etc). I also like that I can send commands to the car. The bad part is that the climate control commands don't ever seem to work. Not that big of a deal for me. The really annoying thing is that when I'm connected to my 340i through Bluetooth, the app will takeover my phone. It takes over my fingerprint reader and forces me to enter my password (a pattern) to unlock my phone. Once unlocked, it constantly pops up and I have to "connect" to the app, or close it by swiping the app off the screen of recently used apps. Seeing as how Android integration with BMW isn't that great, if I get a message I can't even preview it. I have to manually unlock my phone, sign in or dismiss this app, then try again. Once it's unlocked, BMW connected keeps popping up constantly. Please fix as this is not only dangerous but extremely annoying. Considering uninstalling the app if it's keeps up.

I've only owned BMWs since 1997. They can make cars but I think their IT department is ten years behind the times. They just aren't keeping up with the competition. Even if they offer a capability, having it actually work consistently seems to be beyond BMW's ability. This app works sporadically and I currently have three cars connected. four months later and app has gotten worse. no services currently work. I've reinstalled, reset all cars, tried on another device - nothing.

Doesn't do a whole lot, would be nice if it had a remote start function, the features it does have are only useful in summer to help cool the car down before getting in. I suppose the car locater could be useful in certain situations, and the sending of directions is probably the most useful feature, there is an "info" section but it doesn't seem to work and that's about it!...keep working on it BMW, it can be so much better!

This app is ok when it works, but when it doesn't, you'll wish it never existed. It was working fine until I I switched phones and could no longer authenticate. After resetting my password I couldn't add my car to my garage due to a very vague error message. Every time I get in my car it automatically opens the app and connects to the car with limited functionality, but I cannot control the car remotely. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and now I can't authenticate again. I'm done.

Disappointed that BMW doesn't offer any type of update or even a separate app for models having the 1st generation I Drives. No where in the description does it say exactly which models are compatible with this app. I got all the way through signing up and then had to do a Google search to find this very relevant information. I'm only giving it a generous two stars because the features sound very impressive. Too bad I can't use them!

Really disappointed in this. I thought BMW would be on top of technology & it would be easy & seamless to use your android or Apple device to connect to your car. Honda connects easily w/a ton of neat features. This looks like it's from 2005. Pd for the ConnectedDrive app & it doesn't work Unable to connect remotely & calling support is useless, wait on hold for 40 minutes only to have them to tell you to do the same thing they told you last time, which didn't work.

There's a huge bug. I like everyone else couldn't log in with the correct credentials. I actually even verified via adb that it connected successfully as it was spitting out info about my car. So what I did was create a new account and I was able to login. The most shocking thing was that my vehicle showed up on this newly created account. I checked via web browser and this new account definitely did not have my vehicle linked. Looks like a huge security flaw to me. If you are unable to login, I highly suggest wiping the app data.

Might be OK if it worked. I all but forgot about it, then opened the app recently and saw Google Assistant integration. Basically, you get it all connected and Assistant responds to every query with "Please accept the new terms of use in the BMW Connected app." There's no discernable way to do that in that app. There's a list of of half-a-dozen phrases you can try if it worked, but no way to get it working.

Terrible app. Deleted it. Has great potential but launches itself without opening it and pushes itself ahead of other apps that are being used. It doesn't matter if you close it out because it just continues to reopen itself 5 to 10 seconds later. It launches itself even if you never touch your phone. Even if it launches itself you should be able to close it permanently if you don't need it. Most of the time I don't need it so it's rather annoying and, even worse, it contributes to distracted driving because you are battling it for Waze and other apps that you might need to stay on the screen. Even when you are a passenger, it forces itself open while you are on the phone doing something else. In addition, it's not robust enough on features to need it all the time. If it ran in the background it would be fine but since it forces itself open I had to delete it. It's a shame because some of the features are nice but the bad outweighs the good. I'm a little shocked that a company like BMW would roll out such a subpar app for their vehicles.

The app sort of works. The main car settings seem robust, but the app is unendingly annoying. It opens everytime bluetooth connects to the car and interrupts whatever you're doing, despite the fact that there is no reason to use the app when you're in the car. The send feedback feature also throws an error when you click it...not sure how they overcomplicated that one. The number of permissions it wants is also disturbing.

Takes forever to Log into and it pops up everytime I get into my car.. if my car has connectedDrive installed then there isn't any need for it to be opened on my phone at the same time. Running in the background is fine as it needs to update items, but no need for it to take over my phone in full screen as soon as I get close to my car. Super annoying as it doesn't even have remote start so I can't turn the heat or A/C on.. uninstalling

This app is terrible. Nothing works after repeat conversations with BMW representative. I have an Android phone and the Spotify never connects. I have to disconnect my phone and reconnect continously everytime I get in the vehicle. It's a nightmare. BMW needs to seriously fix these problems. Don't advertise that the vehicle does something if you haven't worked out the bugs. You're misrepresenting the product you're selling. Very disappointed in the app and won't renew my subscription.

i have both android and iOS devices. for some reason, the iOS app, even while looking at the same car, has WAY more functionality. In the iOS app, i can see the status of the doors, windows, trunk, etc. the Android app doesn't offer any of this. Why would there be such a functional gap between two platforms? to add to the fun, one of my cars shows on the website, but wont show in the app.

This app is terrible. It shows the last link with the car was 15 Oct, a month ago. Nothing on it works, lock, unlock, precondition, lights...nothing. The Volvo app is so much better! Even the Chevy app is better! Very disappointing BMW. I've deleted and reinstalled and done all the steps I can find to fix it. I'd give it no stars in I could.

Before this last update I was able to enjoy the benefits of this app. The connected drive is really that: one must connect the phone to the car to share/download information. It's easy to send destinations to the car and I enjoyed seeing the average fuel use and mileage. With the update I no longer see this information. There are dashes and "no status available" now. The minor bug fixes clearly knocked out what was working.

Used to love this app, but now it keeps crashing when I try to open it. If I clear the data/cache, then it works for an instance but then starts crashing again. Have to constantly clear data/cache for it to work. Update: yes, phone is up to date and restarted it a few times. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app too but that is only a temporary fix. After one use, it will start crashing again when trying to open.

Spotify integration has stopped working between my Galaxy note 8 and '18 X6. The iDrive screen hangs when trying to engage Spotify. It works over Bluetooth. When it was working it was sporadic as whether it would work. The HUD interface is completely inaccurate. Please don't waste your time by responding and telling me to contact Spotify. You and everyone else knows that will lead no where. YOU need to contact Spotify and fix it.

Application auto launches when connected to car's Bluetooth and there is NO WAY to turn it off. This would not be a huge problem EXCEPT it keeps RE-STEALING the focus from my navigation app (Waze) every few minutes. I've searched and searched and there is no way to disable this behavior, so I am forced to uninstalled the app. Developer should make it possible to disable auto lainch in the settings.
