Very well done. Can I export the tracking data? A car ran into me claiming that I braked too hard. The app slows I had no measurable deceleration. I would like to get that data in a spreadsheet for the accident investigator. I exported a GPX file but that only had location tracking data. I would like to get the speed, acceleration, and lean angle too. I like the moving map display on the phone. The perspective is excellent. I missed using "OK Google" to call people or choose songs so I paired my headset to the phone instead of the TFT display. I still get the navigation (without voice) but not the music or phone. I can control music and phone by saying "OK Google" and then speaking the instruction.
Man... Instead of electric... I would have loved if you made the system more stable. Doesn't always keep. The display rotated appropriately...i.e. I take a phone call, and hang up...when the map comes.back,it's in the wrong orientation... I use Google Maps, Calimoto, and Rever... and this is the only one that wants me to make a u-turn to get on the highway at one intersection.
Nice App. Lots of data. Having some connection issues with Pixel 5. Can't Skip tracks, have to restart the bike, then it works. Also more fine granular volume control would be great. I really want Android Auto on the 10.25" Screen. Waze /Google maps app and Spotify playlist details would be a huge improvement with the ability to also use the BMW app. But if I had to choose, then I take Android Auto. 22 R18 TC
While it will produce a route it is about the same as first generation map guidance from 20 years ago. Trip planning is impossible. Cannot view the roads easily on a map to make choices during planning. Cannot pick a map point during route creation (cities only), must be connected to the bike to use it, shows no services on route, no elevation, gps speed, etc etc. Im going to mount my old Navigator on the new bike.
2022 R1250RT No map mode. See edit history. Provided list of multiple android phones that wont work from 8 to 12. No feedback. Tech support keeps repeating similar questions and vague suggestions every few weeks. They have not provided fault isolation checklist as requested. They keep asking for patience due to high volume. They seem overwhelmed and under resourced. No progress other than confirming a non-Android phone works fine.
App works very good, now that it was clear it must be running in the foreground on the phone to record the journey..customer support was very helpful as well explaining common issues and how to correct them.
Update. The developer says location always on is needed for the app to work. Please, really? I am a developer as well, a security specialist, location is not needed all the time for any app. You just need to use it while the app is open. Even more, you can tell the system to open the app once the Bluetooth connection with the bike is detected. No need for it to be running 24/7
Used nearly every feature of this app, and they've all worked flawlessly and very easy to navigate with the simplest UX design. Well done BMW! Edit: 8/21 Now the app doesn't sync or connect to the bike at all. Tried so many times and so many ways. Just able to connect to my helmet separately, that's all Edit: 2/23. The app does not work on Samsung S22+ at all. Keeps crashing each attempt to open. Clearing cache and reinstall of app didn't help. Reducing from 4 to 2 stars
App ran great on my Note10+ for the last two years. Currently on Android 12 and One UI 4. Just upgraded to an S22 Ultra with Android 12 and One UI 4.1. The app will get a far as the splash screen and then crash. Cleared cache, force stopped, and then uninstalled/reinstalled with no change in behavior. 3-2-22 The app will run and I am able to access archived rides and settings, but as soon as I allow location sharing (needed for GPS navigation functions) during the setup the app will crash.
App won't reliably reconnect to the bike after I shut the bike off and turn it on again (e.g. to gas up). Phone reconnects to bike - can stream music, for example - but this app doesn't always show as connected to bike, the app doesn't record rides, and TFT on bike doesn't show speed limit. Sharing rides to Rever has never worked for me - I consistently get an error that says "Ride already exists on server".
I really like this app - a lot! Now I have a new phone and since the app is crashing 😭 . Reached out to support and got a reply within hours. Unexpected technical issues with this new phone model, update is already worked on. Problems happen, half as bad if a support team is responsive and explains. Looking forward to the update
I need a new password every few weeks. The ap is nice, but I'm looking for something not so nuts about security. I'm riding my motircycle and changing passwords and logging me out is only annoying, not secure.
Great but it won't allow you to store maps in my SD card in my phone. Only internal memory. What if I needed to download more maps? There is no option to pick which area to store.
Everytime I enable location services in app, app crashes, I am on s22 plus, with location services disabled app works fine but what's the point. Works fine on iPhone 12mini.
Great app (except for a few bad updates which broke it down; which were promptly rectified). Wonderful route planning capability and integration with the TFT. I have come to rely on it so much that I don't remember the last time I used the GPS. Gives fun post ride stats too, and the ability to export the routes as GPX or re-ride them. Highly recommended.
When using the app for navigation you have to keep the phone screen active, cannot put it to sleep, because in case of Samsung Note 10 (the phone I'm using), the phone is relentless at killing all "unnecessary" background apps when the screen goes dark to save battery life. As long as you don't shut off the screen and don't put the phone to sleep - the app works flawlessly. Great app, navigation is spot on.
I would like to see BMW give the option to use Google Maps or WAZE for navigation. Problem with static maps is they are outdated. Within my hometown area alone, I have discovered multiple POI's that have been out of business for more than a year! I do not think it would be very difficult on the programming side as Google has an open API. I truly hope BMW makes this consideration on a near future software update.
I really like the app, for the most part. I like the ride-mapping feature and being able to quickly see fuel level and range information. However, the app if often wrong about speed limits in the rural areas of my state. Also, when I attempted to find a gas station near my home with the app, it gave directions to a vape shop. There are three gas stations within two miles of my house. That other map app that starts with G, knows exactly where I am and what's near me. It is still a very good, free alternative to a GPS unit.
I downloaded this onto my Galaxy S9. connected right away to my 2019 750GS w/ TFT. downloaded maps of entire USA with no problems. App worked great for a day or so, now not so great. The app continues to record my track as advertised but I keep getting message that it is unable to calculate route to any destination selected. otherwise, not usable to navigate. And what's the point of recording a track if you cant save it to follow back again?
Everything is awesome with this app now. The connection issues and reliability have been greatly improved and all the features work as advertised. It is a must-have to get all the potential from your bike's TFT display. There are lots of customizable options. The app support guys were very helpful with getting my issues sorted out. My final feedback is that I hope they add music integration with app so you can store and setup your library in one place. Great job, BMW. 2021 BMW F900R Premium.
I've just switched to the galaxy ultra 22 and now this app no longer works. I keep getting the app has a bug and needs to be fixed before I can use it. It worked fine on my galaxy note 20.
I had it working well. And then there was an update, since then I cannot find my music in the play list It was there before and cannot figure out how to get it back. I did switch memory switch to external because my music is on a usb card but still cant find it. Liked it before though.
Well after the March 15th update the app is working great again, even better than before. Great job. Changed my review.
Trying out the app to use for directions. When I set a new destination, the only way it will calculate a route is if all avoidances are unchecked. When i turn on the option to "avoid dirt roads" it won't calculate (error message about route preferences). I don't want dirt roads, why can't I select that. Spoke too soon. Update done on Sena 20 . Now, not able to get anything conected to the TFT. Not saying it is the update, but now the Connections options on the bike is grey and not able to selet
This app is really frustrating. It occasionally doesn't track my rides. What really sucks is the maps. I rode somewhere with a friend and wanted to view the ride so I could do it again later. The blue line completely blocks the road names, so I can't see where to go. Unbelievable.
Good start, but lacking, needs the following things: Google map integration, multiple point route creation, landscape mode for whole app, landscape mode does not work on maps, audio player integration. Is a good start and will be great if actually developed and supported further than the current release.
Hit or miss... sometimes it opens, sometimes it doesnt and does not capture all your trips nor connects to your bike for Speed Limit and Map information. My suggestion is to get rid of the bike information if it cannot reliably display current info and get rid of the maps and create functionality with Google Maps. Make android and apple car play but for your bikes.
Just moved to Android 12 phone and the app crashes without fully opening. Removed and installed fresh several times but Play app message says to wait until developer fixes bugs.
Not yet developed for Samsung S22, + and Ultra. Worked on previous Note 20 and S21 series phones. Can't wait for them to work out the bugs.
On the plus side, having the ability to track rides and see information on speeds, ABS activations, etc. is useful. The map is somewhat useful, although it lacks features I've come to expect from Google Maps, etc. such as complex route creation. On the negative side, the app logs me out - without warning - so I'm often on ride before I realize this. Yesterday it both logged me out *and* wanted a map update, I discovered this at a stop on a rural road with no cellular coverage.
