They really went out of their way to rob current users of their previously purchased app. First, they removed the shortcut icon from your device, so you cannot launch it without going through Google Play, second, they force you to download and install crippled "last update" which is almost useless, as they want you to create an account, so you cannot use this app without signing in and internet access. Lastly, they downgrade your previously purchased lifetime map updates to a measily 365 days.
The 1' contours are great but the satellite sonar chart is terrible. The resolution is so low it doesn't help a lot. Plus you can only zoom in a little bit then is loses the satellite overlay. Disappointed in this feature
The new upgraded app is a money grab. App worked perfectly on IOS or Android smartphones and tablets for most users I know. I feel it's nothing more than an app ( and company) Garmin absorbed and then jacked the cost several times more than the original. I was a loyal Garmin electroncis customer from day one before electronic mapping was popular. Now Furuno or Navico user. Come on guys, let's see the price back in line with it's true value. Most boaters/fishermen don't require more clutter...
App works great on HTC 10. However, when drifting or trolling for walleye at slow speeds (less than 2.5mph), the direction and position are not accurate. Also, the detail on the Canadian side of Minnesota/Canada border waters is very low, and rocks are not marked.
Although Garmin/Navionics claims that the app will continue to work even after it was discontinued, that's not entirely true. Previously under "Map options", I could select Shallow Area and Depth Contours. Now these options are locked out and it prompts me to purchase "Navionics +". But that has been discontinued too. Garmin is trying to force everyone to switch to Boating HD at a huge percentage price increase. It's a pure money grab and there is no indication of any effort to improve the charts, which are dangerously inaccurate in many places. Instead, they are crippling an App that I already bought and paid for. I'm very unhappy and as a result will avoid purchasing any Garmin products in the future.
I paid $15 for this app a few years ago and i have also paid good money for Navionics chips that go in my sonar. First Navionics starts charging fees to renew annually and removes many of the features i paid for. Now the app is being discontinued all together. $15 well spent.....
The app is fine, but do not load it, it will not work unless you give it permission to access your files your phone, your contacts, and your photos. Why do they need that for a navigatjon app. Is a scam.
the app seems to work slower than it use to.I have purchased it for several years in a row ..it does NOT include most lakes in Manitoba..except for the Wpg river and lake wpg....where others are offering much more in that area..some areas in nopiming park don't even show unless I'm on satelite view..I'm not very happy with what I've gotten for my money and now they want 4 times the price...and all I'll get is the wpg river/lake Winnipeg network? Definitely look at other options for MB fishing
***update*** they helped& fixed so it's back to normal now. It's good:) This app is now the free version with recent updates. All of is who paid for it lost all features we paid for and are full of popups to buy. It's a good time to check out some reliable developers.
I use to use this app every time I went fishing. I even purchased the app but apparently there's an expiration time on the app. That's ridicules. For the amount you pay for this app, a one time purchase should be sufficient. it's a money grab app.
Paid for the app. Now I can get in without making an account with them. How do I access my app? I don't want to create another account... I have enough as it is. Horrible decision/direction they have made :(
A waiste of money. somebody must have just guessed and sketched most of these up at a desk...If not they probably should have and might have been closer. most of it is useless.
GPS not always accurate. Was billed twice and wouldn't refund. Wouldn't buy or recommend again
Im trying to change my password to switch to the new app but the password reset is not working
Dishonest company.... Bought these charts, now locked out unless I pay a subscription fee.... would like my money back.
Really like this app but I recently had to replace phones and now all my markers are gone except one
Love navionics I have the same program on my munninbird gps plotter love it the app works good also handy and helpful
Navionics makes top-notch mapping applications, but forcing old customers to make an account to continue using an app they already bought and paid for is egregious behavior.
Use this app on my boat every weekend works absolutely fantastically highly recommended
This app works great. Just like a chart plotter.
Great app for fishing hard and soft water
Love It!, Very complete.
Won't even install & the refund option disappeared.
Force update to hd version and double the cost .
Great but now i got a man over board
Garbage...Had this app for years it worked great. Now I got a new phone and cannot retreive or redownload the app. They want me to buy a newer version when the app I had before worked just fine for what I need.Navionics is a ripp off
Paid $499 in 2007 to buy regional chip for my boat's Raymarine E80 plotter. Updated about 5 years ago for $299. Update was little changed, but in HD. Increased data definition choked my E80 and changing screens etc is now painfully slow. Then i purchased the app for $15, a nice complement to my onboard system. So I'm basically into this software for $813 already. Now they want a subscription, with only very limited useful improvements for my usage, coastal sailing, sailboat racing! Really?
