Bodhi Timer
Bodhi Timer is an elegant, minimalist countdown timer. It is designed mainly for use as a meditation timer but can easily be used for any similar purpose.
Set the time via the clock icon in the top left. You may set presets by choosing a time then holding down on one of the three preset buttons.
You may alternatively use speech to set the time by long-pressing the clock button. (These behaviours can be swapped via the preference screen.) To set multiple timers using speech, separate using the word "again", as in "five minutes again ten minutes"
Pause / resume via the button in the bottom left, and stop the timer via the button in the bottom right. The top right button is the preference button.
You may add a timer widget to your desktop via the App Drawer, or on your lockscreen (Android 4.2+).
Animation may be toggled between an image and one of four circle animations, chosen from the preferences screen.

It uses Android's built-in notification system to trigger the alarm, which means it works even when your device is asleep.

I'm so glad this timer works again! Has mulipule sounds (bells, gongs, and birds) and visualizations (different coloured circles, a bodhi leaf, and the ability to use a picture of your choice), plus functionality not available with the stock Samsung clock (pausing before beginning the countdown; repeating the timer). Unfortunately, the widget is invisible in this version, even after clearing the cache and restarting the phone. Shame - I used to use the widget daily. Will give 5 ⭐ when/if fixed.
This seems to have developed an issue that makes it unusable - it seems to run at double speed or more. Perhaps some bug in the phone timer that it uses? Best wishes
This Bodhi Timer is simple as needed, just start and stop. Small app size, run small battery, no requirement unnecessary permission. But the most important thing, "timer sound" will be ring, if the app set to be "not optimized" in battery setting, and set "Stay Awake" on app
Simple and can set my own sounds. Can't get start sound to play, works when testing and if I stop the timer straight away I can hear the start sound finishing. So it's playing but muted for some reason. Otherwise perfect.
20210222. After two or three reinstallations over the past few months, the bells work just like they used to. Setting the clock is easy, nice circular graphic. Thanks for working out the wrinkles. 5/5 again.
Ideal serene peaceful reminder. No ads or superfluous extras. You can repeat the bell periodically to revive mindfulness. I have used this timer for years. It works perfectly on my new phone.
This is my favorite timer app. It let's me know that time is up in a gentle way rather than the sometimes abrasive standardised sound of my phone. The app told me it might not work since my Android system update but I have no issues so far.
Great app, thanks for picking it up again. P. S. The start sound isn't working. It works in the setup screen, but not in actual usage.
Great little app that I use for meditation. Would give it 5 stars except that sometimes the repeat function doesn't work. Hope this bug can be fixed.
Very nice and clean interface. Being able to save multiple advanced times would make it even better.
It could be okay in the right environment, but the alarm is too quiet and the auto-repeat doesn't work.
UPDATE: Latest update did indeed solve the problem mentioned below; thanks to the developer for letting me know. Bodhi Timer is once again my favorite timer app! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Loved this app on my Samsung phones, but it will not play sounds on my LG phone when the timer ends, no matter what I do.
I'm using the latest version of bodhi timer and it still does not work on my Samsung Fold. It was fine up until the recent system update. This was my favorite meditation app up until a few days ago.
I really like it for meditation and setting timers which go to headphones (for working out or naps and generally not paying attention on public transit without disturbing others).

I really want to give this app 5 stars, but it often fails at one of it's main functions: the bell ending the session. I thought perhaps it was just me but others say the same thing. Please fix.
Love the app. Great to have the starting and ending bell for meditating/sitting sessions! Been using it for many years.
Great App that I've used for a long time. But since last update the auto restart function is not working on my galaxy S10e.
I added this timer for its repeat function, but repeat is very random and unreliable. Other wise it functions o.k.
Great, simple, useful timer. I recommend using the advanced settings for multiple timers.

Just as others have said, it used to work well. Now it can no longer be depended on to signal an end time which does not exactly instill a sense of peace. Very disappointing!
Fantastic timer with very good sounds, very suitable for the start and end of meditations (but set volume quite low or else your might still get 'shocked' out of your silence)
The updated version is terrible, unable to set the time, this was my favourite meditation timer but I will uninstall it after this "upgrade".

Sound at end of countdown does not work if only 3 seconds total time is set.
Loved this app for years Now it doesn't reset to 0. Notifications no longer open app. Please restore the functional itteration
There were some issues with recent updates, but the developer worked very quickly to resolve both aesthetics and functionality. I was very impressed with the responsiveness. I've been using this timer 6+ yrs, and it's honestly the best. Aesthetics, chime sounds, and colors are so soothing compared to other timers out there. I use it for both meditation, and "(5)-minute" warnings for my kiddo. I LOVE the crystal bowl chimes.
