The bolt app is so annoying, it was fine but then the scooter slowed down and locked itself. I didn't know what was going on so I ended the ride and restarted it and it charged me an additional $1. Once resumed, it kept doing the same thing and slowed down and locked it. I hit pause but it kept getting stuck with a "loading" message. Ended up wasting 15 mins trying to figure it out, even restarting my phone. Finally was able to stop it and ended walking to my destination.

The scooters are weird, instead of one foot behind the other they are side by side. This is unsafe because if you have to stop quickly you're going to get sent over the bar instead of being able to step both feet off one side. Also, this might be personal, but the App always seems down for maintenance so there are never any scooters displayed on the map. When there are, a lot of them are very low power too.

It's great because there's no startup fee for me, although my sister tried to use the app too and it would charge her $1 for a startup fee. But for me it's just $0.25 per minute. Its a little harder to balance on and sometimes the bells are broken so you feel like there's no way to warn traffic that you're zipping down the street. Also it would randomly lock and say I'm in a no-ride zone when I was on a public street. Other than that, it beats the price of the others

Love the natural stance setup over the competition. Only thing I've noticed is the front fork uprights give a little flex when accelerating or braking more than Lime, Bird, or Gotcha. Inexperience might cause unnecessary overcorrection. Can be a little sketch for new riders with no idea what to expect. Power levels are solid. Acceleration is smooth. Focus on more rigid uprights. Would love to see a usb charge port usable on an active unit.

I like Bolt, but the newest iteration of their scooter is a step back imo. Heavier, slower acceleration, sort of unwieldy on tight turns, just generally not enjoyable to try to ride especially when you're sharing the road with cars. When possible, I pretty much always end up using the older version.

No unlock fee means its great for short trips! Like trips <10 minutes. Most of my trips are 3 minutes and cost about $0.90, which means i spend less than the unlock fee for the other companies! For trips over 10 minutes, uber scooters might be better since they charge a flat rate for the first 30 minutes.

The suspension was terrible. The app completely locked me out in the middle of traffic. The speed and throttle control was very unreliable. The scooter forced you to stand in one position which I did not care for. The whole experience just wasn't great.

Fun as hell!! Convenient and easy to use. Just use the map on the app to locate an available scooter, scan QR Code on handle bar to access and you're on your way. I can't speak intelligently about the condition of other city's sidewalks but RVA's are "patchy" at best so it wouldn't hurt to upgrade these puppies with some type of suspension package. Until then I'd recommend mastering your wheelie technique. The map shouldn't show scooters as available when the battery power is too low to access.

Maybe your scooters were great when they were new but no one seems to maintain them. I've ridden THREE different ones over the past week and all had bad wheel bearings, two of them had loose steering posts, and one was so bad that every time I used the brake, I thought the front wheel was going to come off. You need to service your scooters instead of trying to save money letting them run until they die. I have not had an issue with the 3 other brands available here in Fort Lauderdale.

The app is terrible, had to reboot multiple times to make it work. State and user management is inconsistent at best, entirely broken at worst. Once I finally got it working, the scooters are awesome.

The scooters are not comfortable, and have that strange bar between your feet, it was dangerous for my shoes seemed to get caught under the bar. Plus then they havr a $5 deposit every time you ride. which if you do multiple times in one day, is going to block a hefty chunk of change. There app it self is subpar, has to much going on, and doesn't really let you know what your doing. Pro: They do allow you to rent multiple units at the same time, so you and your friends can all enjoy the ride.

Rental does not stop until you hit Pay, despite having entered the payment information before the rental starts. Should have a clear end ride button. Very poor design that resulted in my first rental running for an hour after I thought it had been completed. Lime and Bird apps are designed much better.

Not able to set up account ahead of time. Rather than standing around in public with my credit card fiddling with the app i wanted to set things up while at home. I was told this isnt possible. Too bad but maybe theyll update and change this in the future.

Slowest of the 5 brands I've ridden. This is probably my 10th bolt and they have been consistently slow. It says 10.5 mph but feels slower than others at 10.5 and most go 12-15 on the speedometer. Please make them faster because the double floorboard is a good thing

"stop moving the scooter or I will call the police" when your scooter fails to unlock despite repeated attempts, talk about a terrible user experience. I am trying to use this scooter service for the first time, and for reasons beyond my control it failed to unlock. Repeatedly. I even ended trip and started a new one. That is a terrible escalation when a user is trying to figure out how to use your product. And it isolates anyone who might be wary of an indeed police call. Be better.

Overpriced. Two people, going 1.5 miles, cost $18. In addition, the scooters started locking on us with no warning. We kept unlocking them through the app, but it wasn't until we tried locking them that we found out what was going on. Turns out we left the allowed area, and had no warning of that. We had to fight with them to get them back inside the allowed area so we wouldn't get fined, locked them and walked away. We're going to take Lyft from now on. These are fun, but they are not worth it.

The app hung on phone a few times. it keeps saying that it was loading. This was after we had unlocked a ride. i had to kill the app and reload it to end the ride. This costs time and since i am paying for time, time is money.

The app is like if puke took a dump on garbage!!!! I am standing next to this Bolt bike, trying to unlock. I was there for 20 mins trying it to get to work. At one point, I was also taken to Google maps for some reason. The bike never unlocked, I never figured out what to do. Still working on it. Bolt, from one engineer to another, hire a new engineering team. I beg you!!!

I use a Bolt multiple times per week to travel from a DC metro station to my office, and its always a great experience. The app is super easy to use and helpful at finding a scooter in little time.

Tra. C. Oct 25, 2019

Pricier than others. Plus the app runs slow, so get ready to pay for that time trying to end the ride. QR code in an awkward spot, all around nowhere near as good as other options.

These scooters in comparison to other scooter apps are difficult to use. The $5 hold is deterring, the scooters are too tall for a smaller person like myself, and they go too slow compared to others in the area. Renting one requires more steps and becomes frustrating. It could be better designed. I will say the scooters are in somewhat better shape than other apps and I like that they are placed by Bolt workers rather than users or chargers.

Scooters themselves more durable than Bird. However, even though app support is just a click away, it doesn't mean they are organized. Trying to end a ride last week, the app wouldnt let me end it. Error msgs everywhere. The support lady Sam said she would end the ride for me. The app was down for maintenance (without any communication). Well Sam ended my ride 30 min later, charging me double & she didn't adjust the fare. No refund for a week. Hours not posted in RVA either. City hours needed

I've used this scooter three times, two of the three I was injured. I'm giving this lower rating because the second injury was because the brake handle cut my finger deep after another rider ran into me. it is a faulty design! I should probably go to the doctor but too expensive. The first injury was a worse injury because after being cut off by a fast moving bicyclist I was not able to stop properly so I tumbled off. Embarrassing at the time so I left it alone, however, concern about brakes...

I love riding the scooter to the beach and back, fun to ride. Gave one star due glitches with the app. It doesnt lock often or doesn't unlock. The it service needs to get better, very frustrating. Use bird instead, SEAMLESS UX.

App is fairly turn-key and easy to use. Oddly, it has a section for the Bolt Baton program but not the option to sign-up. An inquiry with their responsive Customer Service rep turned this into a true mystery because they had never heard of the program. Paging Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys.

Jus. L. May 29, 2019

The scooter reaponds well. 4 of 5 stars because of the ride design. With feet facing forward it is difficult to maneuver the scooter without losing balance. Also. Wheels should be replaced soon. Overall fun experince. Tourist will love seeing town this way.

Ken. C. Nov 10, 2019

Went out of my way just to try one of these and it failed to unlock. Everytime I tried it would just stop three quarters of the way in then say bike failed to unlock in time. Complete waste of time.

Just walked to a scooter to use $5 free credit and it wouldn't authorize my card. kind of annoying walking back. You should ask for the credit card deposit when I make my account so I can make sure it's setup correctly.
