This is a nice device to control my ceiling fans. I like that it doesn't need to be in the same room to work. I control one fan down stairs and the other one up stairs. Only issue was getting my phone to connect to it. I had to turn my wireless internet off until the set up was complete. Voice commands work also, don't need to open the app to turn fan on/off.
I wish other smart appliance apps were this well designed and this feature-complete. The Bond system enabled me to control my fan lights with Google Home, and when I had a problem with them a year ago, their excellent support made it easy to solve. And honestly, just having a smart appliance app that's not littered with grammatical errors is refreshing. It's just an exceptionally good app.
Works basically flawlessly (other than my weird fan remote which it picked up an FCC ID for!) and controls perfectly every time. I do wish Google Assistant integration had light temperature as an option, and more elegantly laid out support documentation, but these are nowhere near deal breakers for how well it worked!
When it works, it's great.... When it works.. Very inconsistent. Some days it works right away with one click inside the app. The next day it doesn't respond at all. The timers work some days and others not at all. Disappointing that I spent $100 on a hub and this is how it behaves.
Needs ability to see status and turn on/off on the main screen. I have 8 fans and I have to click on each one to even see which ones are on. Also needs ability to add users. Everyone in the house, living or visiting, currently has to be given my email and password in order to control the fans.
Going on 6 months now. No issues at all. Even with having to reset Google Home, the Bond hub resynced without a hitch. Bond works seamlessly with Google Home. Really happy with the performance and stability of our Bond Hub.
This device is AWESOME!! If you are having trouble initially connecting your decide, plug the Hub close to it. Once it's connected properly, you can move it back to your central location.
Set up 3 same model hunter fans. Was super easy on fans 2 and 3. A short learning curve on fan 1 . The app controls everything including dimmer. Google assistant works good. Can even set fan speed as percentage, so unlimited speed settings from Google assistant
Old fan app suddenly became unsupported due to Bluetooth. This was a great solution and uses wifi. Did not need buy all new fans like manufacturer told us to. Up and running in minutes and wifi was a plus.
Doesn't sync well with Amazon. Amazon thinks the light is on when it's actually off. Sometimes have to say the opposite to get the needed results. If the light is off and doesn't come on when I tell Amazon to turn it on I have to tell Amazon to turn it off to the light can come on. Can't trust that it's on just by looking at the app.
Bond Bridge is not worth the discounted price I paid for it. All I can program is fan speed. I can't turn it off and can't toggle the light. Very disappointing.
App works well and widget has been fixed, thanks. A previous version of the widget could be 1x1 and scrollable - still quicker than opening app and didn't take up us much space. Would love that functionally again.
It's wonderful. As long as you know what it's made for it's basically a relay. It just relays the button. Press back to whatever object you have it sitting under you just have to understand that it has to be in line of sight of the object you're trying to turn on or off
Works pretty good. After a couple wifi reconnects on the firmware upgrade/reconnect dance life is good to control the fan and its light. If the battery is dead in the remote you will like this app.
The app works fine, but there is room for improvement though. It would be nice if there was a preset for 25, 50, 75% or custom light brightness. Other than that everything is good
This device is great. It allows me to control 3 fans in my 1K square foot home via my phone or via commands to the Google Assistant. I am able to turn the fan on/off and change its speed (the on/off feature integrates with the Google Home app, but the speed feature does not). There are also options for changing the rotation of the fan, having it do a random blow pattern, and more, though I haven't tried those things. One note is that the Bond device was not able to communicate with all of the fans when the device was at one end of the house. I had to put it in a central location. Setup was easy.
No more lost remote, it lives in its holder and we just use the app! The only features missing from the fan remote was the light timer (only had fan timer) and the "home" function that turns the light off and on at varying intervals to make it look like you're home. Don't miss either since we didn't use them. Oh, and the dimmer control (press and hold), but we don't change that much and it's easy to do on the old remote that now doesn't get lost since it stays in one place.
I didn't trust the app's remote detection when first setting it up, since it didn't match the model of our ceiling fans, and tried to program instead. That was frustrating, but after trying again and choosing the detected remote, things work well. One unit covers our 2 story house, and works great with the assistant. Much more reliable than the actual remotes!
I've only had it for a few weeks, but it's been great so far for my house's 6 ceiling fans. Setup is a little confusing at times - if your remote isn't imediatley recognized, 2 fans next to each other that use the same type of remote, and random other things that may not be an issue for you. Either way, It's been able to do everything I wanted it to do so far, so I'm very happy with it. Especially at the price - just go for it. Voice cammands and one, centralized remote (your phone) is awesome.
You can't tell Google to dim the light or set the fan to a certain speed. It's either on or it's off, both the fan or the light. If you use the widget or the app to dim the light it toggles the light all the way up before you goes back down, you have to watch the app to stop the dimming or you will have to go through all the steps again. Needs a slider or a circle thingy to adjust the light where you want it. Need to allow voice commands to change fan speeds and adjust light levels. Do not buy!
The first iteration of this application was horrible...there was nowhere to go but up. And now they have soared to the top. I have 4 devices at different points of a 3000 sqft house and they work flawlessly. Ironically two devices work better with the app/phone than the original remote control supplied!! Excellent product.
I tried using the Wink smart fan and light controller, the unit failed and integration was just ok. I moved over to Bond Bridge and it rocks! I was able to setup all 6 rooms in my house in under 30 minutes and it is supported in Smartthings which is my smarthub of choice. I can't recommend this enough. I am going to try and find more use cases for this since it can control more than just lights and fans.
Great system to make basic electronic devices smart. Very easy to set up. I used it to set up 11 motorized Allen+Roth shades. Bond successfully found all but 1 remote with 1 button-press. The last one I just programmed button by button (3 programming evolutions instead of one). You simply follow the instructions to add a new device, press the button, wait for the light to turn from blue to green, tap thru test & verification prompts, & you're done! Loses 1* for lack of grouping & 1-tap controls.
Need to be able to program missing/all button functions in manual mode for RF and IR remote types. When bond does not have the device in the database, you cannot manually program all the advanced functions you might have on your remote. I have some generic devices that have a bunch of functions. Adding generically gives toggle, on and off only. I have to create a device for each special function. Most fans from major brands work. Tip: use the most complex function to find your remote.
Fantastic app, hardware, and customer service! I previously purchased another brand of hub and could never get it connected to my Wi-Fi. It was recommended that I try Bond and I emailed them before buying and they were very responsive answering all my questions. I just received the Bond hub, connected it to my Wi-Fi, downloaded the app, synchronized the remote for my two shades, and everything worked perfectly! Highly recommended!
Very good, not yet great. Out of box, prompted for two painless firmware updates. App connected to wifi seemlessly which is imlressive since my phone is known to have issues switching between connections(WEMO setup usually requires an airplane mode gymnastics for setting up devices). Setup 3 Kichler ceiling fans and an Emerson ceiling fan with and up and down light. They do need to improve the template selection options. I would say well worth the small investment. Their support was helpful.
Seamless integration and easy setup. We bought this from Lamps Plus to try controlling the new fans and it ended up working to integrate all the fans with remotes
Fails to find the remote for pairing purposes. The alternate method, Enter Pin, does not give you any clue on WHERE to find the pin. Worthless waste of time.
I bought Bond to control 5 ceiling fans and a set of Somfy blinds (not shades). It works perfectly on everything with one exception. The 'close' command for Somfy is equivalent to a short press of the button which only moves the blinds slightly. Even with this limitation, it's still a great improvement over all the remotes!
More about the company and the app... This is my second Bond Bridge. The first didn't function after trying to bring it back online after a move. The team did a tremendous amount of troubleshooting over email over weeks before offering to give a discount on a new one. After receiving the new one, I know that the older one obviously was damaged in the move, because this new one went through the app guiding navigation with ease and after just a couple of minutes the bond was up and ready to use!
