I really wish this app worked. I'd pay more happily if it did what the Apple one does. The syncing still doesn't and since last update searching for book doesn't work either. The apple version looks great but the android one still not.
This app is now trash. The sync feature has rolled me back twice losing numerous reading progress and data. No tech support given. Reached out on Twitter twice and once by email no support. Paid for 3 years.. will not be paying again. Bye.
The app is just too buggy for me to wholeheartedly endorse and there doesn't seem to be much reason to hope for improvement. The reason I continue to use Bookly is that they're the only app I've found with a very convenient reading session time and progress tracker. If that's important for you, I think this is your best bet. If you're looking for a tool to organize and categorize your books and to-read lists, there are better options
I got the year subscription on black Friday & it's much better than the free version. There are numerous flaws with app interface, it feels like an app that's still in beta. Overall I like it, I just really hope to see y'all continue to develop it! The potential is massive. Some problems I've noticed: -manually added pages don't count towards goal/stats -counting reading by % isn't accurate -can't backdate reading start date -completed goals don't update till I restart the app
The offer to pay once for lifetime of pro is a scam. The app completely forgets you have it and offers no way to recheck licenses, so it fleeces you for more money to restore the pro features you've already paid for. Granted, the pro feature of syncing between two devices has been broken for a year and always corrupts your data, so it's not a good value at all.
So thoroughly disappointed. Was really looking forward to spending a lot of time using this, everything went really smoothly for the first book. I went ahead and paid for the upgrade to pro for a full year as i was so sure that this was going to hold up to what i wanted. As soon as i tried to add another book it kept crashing while on the search function, I kept trying and now it wont even open the app. Tried restarting my phone and clearing more space but just the same. So disappointed.
I love the concept and it worked great for the first few weeks. However, if I try to edit the book, it moves my progress to 50+% when I'm at 11 or 30%. It gets confused regarding tags and won't necessarily be added/removed from the shelf when I set it to. One book somehow skipped to finished and I couldn't undo that either. Very glitchy. Hoping for some updates soon. Sad to not get to save these books correctly in the meantime.
I bought a lifetime sub not long after the app first launched, and I have stuck with it for that reason. Now though, it's getting ridiculous. I repeatedly have to finish books and rate them, I have lost reading progress, and the app takes 5 minutes to load up. I don't have this issue with other apps that are much bigger in size than this one. It also really bothers me that you're not able to just save the infographic, but share it.
Doesn't work as advertised, the pro cloud version feature is broken, I paid for that particular feature so when I moved to a new device it would keep my progress, but that was not the case, It now appears as a haven't read 3 books that I read in the last month and my reading streak has gone to 0 again. It looks clean and user friendly but is a little buggy and the stats page doesn't work either, I will continue using the app until a found something better, but I will stop my subscription.
I like a lot of the features in this app, but one thing upsets me about it: it doesn't work well for poetry collections. I want to add a reading section without having to finish on a further page. With poetry books I jump back and forth, but this app won't let you end a session on a previous page or even on the page you were on when you began. Also, it'd be great if I could connect to other users. My sister has this app and we share screenshots of our reads, but it'd be easier to share on app
I love this app!! My only critique is there isn't an account of sorts. So I paid for pro on my Android phone and can't transfer anything to my new iPad. And I hate to start over. Also the Apple App has an option for reading an audiobool which this does not and yghat would be a nice addition to have. Really I just would like to be able to sync across devices.
Good overall but has a big issue: when switching between Percentage and Pages, the percentage / page count goes haywire and doesn't display the correct number. It won't let me edit it again either. It will simply be stuck at the wrong progress, which renders the app useless. The app should be able to switch between percentage and pages effortlessly - as someone who reads both on kindle and in physical form, that is a huge setback so I'll not be using Bookly anymore.
This app is great. However it is quite annoying to go in and fix the number of pages myself every time I add a book. They numbers are terribly off so it would be nice when fixed it could be fixed for other users as well. Also, the filter usually requires you to click on it to work again. Other than that I am happy, there are so many good features in the app I personally enjoy ( adding quotes, thoughs etc.) Adding your books is the only downsider (long process) So hang in there, it is worth it.
I really liked this app to begin with, but now it's so laggy that I can't even use it. I try to add new book, but they end up disappearing and I have to add them again. Setting any kind of goal basically crashes the app. I feel like it's definitely time for an update, but none have become available. I do really like this app, it just need some fixing up right now.
Great app and does exactly what I need! Only issue is, when I am trying to scan books borrowed from the library with a clear protective cover over it, it does not scan properly. When I search it up online, sometimes the online version doesn't have the correct cover picture, and it looks ugly/inconsistent if I manually add it by taking a photo - it would be good if we could search up the covers via the app! Thank you!
App deserves a 0 star rating. Not only was I forced to pay for another year to keep more than 10 books for an already buggy app, the first update in a year has broken it! The new "1 time sync" is disgustingly slow! I understand that more books=longer sync time, but it's been OVER AN HOUR and it's still NOT done! In fact, it seems to be frozen and hasn't moved in the last 30 minutes. Can't even use my phone while it's syncing otherwise, it just starts all over again if I try! Can't even use it!
