Our books are specially designed for children learning to read at the Kindergarten and first-grade reading levels. The books work just like training wheels on a bicycle. A child will gain confidence by using books at the “just right” level of challenge; as he/she develops new skills, the “training wheels” are gradually removed. Because so much of the reading support is provided by the actual books, children can do much of the learning on their own. This provides the child with tremendous confidence and a sense of ownership of their own learning. It also makes learning to read fun and enjoyable!
The American Reading Company Leveling System is built on the national Common Core State Standards. The color-coded system makes it easy for kids to find books at their “just right” level of challenge:
Books in the app are organized by the first four reading levels:
• 1-3 Yellow books use the same sentence on each page except one word that changes to reflect the picture.
• 1 Green books use simple sentences, clear pictures, and the first 60 sight words.
• 2 Green books use simple sentences, clear pictures, and the first 120 sight words.
• 1 Blue books use 150 sight words and new words that can be figured out using words the reader already knows, (e.g., by knowing “all,” the reader can figure out “call” or “walls”).

App keeps saying unexpected error when I try to login
I just love it and there are levels for grades Like 1st to 12th
When I login I put my real account info but says unexpected error

At my school i use this app i disited to have at home
Half the books will not load and those that do are duplicated. Once a book is downloaded, it only opens half the time.
For any people who are wondering where the lower levels and higher levels are, this app isn't fully developed. Which means not all the reading levels are on here. Just some of the in between levels right now.
Would be extremely helpful if these books could be downloaded to external memory instead of ONLY the internal...
I'm a parent and my kids have been going on bookshelf to read their books lately we couldn't find some books levels like 2b, 1R and the rest of them. Pls i need to know what happened.

I would recommend the low cost "Epic!" app for anyone looking for a child's e-library. This Bookshelf app from "American Reading Company" requires you to DOWNLOAD each book taking up tons of phone memory, largely based on sight reading, and prediction, rather than teaching phonics first, practically up until you get to the blue level. Phonics first is soo important!! My nephew was given an account for this program as it is used in his Kindergarten class.

Perfect to read along with grandchildren in another state.
I can not go online and print the documentation...when I try on a computer I get an unexpected error. Yesterday I emailed support about their game that will barely let you login on a pc and will not let you complete the levels. The app on the phone will not even load. Horrible......support has not responded.
