Bookworm Classic (Expert)

The game is fun, if somewhat limited in comparison to the old game. But still fun enough. However, they have recently added in a feature where an ad pops up and you can't close it for at least a full minute, and if ypu click anything, it tries to force you to install the game. I literally can't take a sec to pop out abd check a text without the install window coming up if there's an ad. If this continues, I will be uninstalling.

Can no longer enjoy playing this game due to how hard it is to close the ads. It seems that it has become very difficult to proceed to the next level without waiting at least 1 minute or so and even when you click on the x you are sent to the play store. There were ads before but at least you could click the x and continue to play. Fix the cliché

I am hooked. I stay up half the night not realizing how much time goes by. Good to keep your brain sharp and challenging. Only reason I gave 4 stars is that occasionally I get a message there is a problem being fixed and I can't get in for weeks. That is frustrating. It like it as I sleep better when I go off the game.

Congratulations on taking a nice simple game and completely killing the experience with advertising. Devs trying to fix what wasn't broke is why I dumped the other Bookworm game. Now on classic bookworm, I get hit with a huge ad before the menu screen is finished loading. And then rapid fire ads as you try to play. Terrible, just terrible. This type of toxic game development practice will never end well.

Leveling up in this game is useless. You receive no higher score for words at level 5k than at the beginning. The only increment is in the bonus word. This makes the challenge of building long words practically non-existent. The ad engine chosen by the developer allows for all sorts of perniciousness: anything from the salacious to unskippable ads. And now, with my score approaching only 50M, the game crashes 100% of the time after loading.

When I first played this game years ago their were no ads....now I have been playing a while again and ads are put out more and more often. It's really getting to be 1.or 2 plays and then long ads which I refuse to pay attention to. Really annoying.

I've had bookworm in the past. This is comparable but somewhat simplified compared to the older version. The ads are becoming overwhelming. I don't mind if they pop up at the end of a game and allow me to get rid of them. But now it's forcing me go to the Google store and I have to shut myself out of the whole game in order to get out of the Google store. They're not even games that I would be likely to play. I would be happy to pay and be ad free.

I Love how it stimulates the mind to think and keep active. Hate the ads that pop up so often especially the totally unrelated ones written in different languages.

This is a challenging game. A good vocabulary is necessary but no other skills. Beware of the red tiles ! If they reach the bottom you are out

Well I am an expert at it, but it is unfair lots of times. It gives burning letters that don't have any way to spell with them. Then you have to pay them a dollar to continue. Isn't forcing me to watch an ad every minute or two enough?

Yes, it is a relaxing game! It gives players ample time to think and be alert. It is indeed good for people who want to prevent stagnation of the mind. Thanks for having invented this game. It helps me a lot mentally.

Love playing this game. No time limits and no matter how much or how little you play the game is saved! I do have a question though. I was just now playing and all of a sudden the game ended and took me back to 0 points... I had over a million. What the hell??

Too many adverts , pick one word then advert appears and you can't close it down , gets really annoying after a few minutes . Uninstalling

I enjoy the game I used to play it back in the day on my desktop computer . Now I play it on the phone, the only negative is way too many ads in the middle of the game..

A great start, but could use a few more features to make it a really good replica. For example, the "longest word" and "highest scoring word" stats at the end of each level, and the ability to see that across your whole streak, maybe via the home page menu? And maybe it's just me, but the game as it stands is not challenging enough. The fire tiles shouldn't be so easy to clear away with short words at higher levels.

Very much like original Bookworm. Relaxing way to keep the mind busy without stress.

I love playing this game, but I hate when I'm at a high level and die, then I have to go all the way back to level 1.... That is so frustrating....

Reasonably decent recreation of the original ipod game, but I would hardly call it "expert". Stays true to the original graphics, sound effects, and game play, but it never seems to increase in difficulty, no matter how long you play. The bonus words never leave the 3-letter stage and the fire tiles are only moderately challenging. On the plus side, there are very few ads (just at the end of each level) which is a welcome change from most game apps these days.

This is as close as you get to our old well-loved PopCap Bookworm! You can play for hours practically uninterrupted, as the ads will go away if you hit the back button, and you can pause the game when you need to, and even if the app gets closed out you are able to continue where you left off. You are only playing yourself , no one else is involved . Very addictive ! Update 3/7/20 : the addition of frequent, LONG, unstoppable ads has decreased my obsession with this app.

Great game, can be challenging and fun. Recently, ads have become increasingly frequent with several appearing in a row, and the occasional one that you cannot close. Would gladly pay for premium, but even that does not remove all ads. Will continue to play, but the fun factor is dampened by the change in ad frequency and style.

I really like this game and enjoy playing it. Ive learned some new words too. After the update tho, I'm not liking the burning tiles. Too bright and distracting. Also the levels change too quickly. the game advances a level after making one or two words and most times it advances 2 levels, which is annoying. Bookworm has become my game of choice to pass the time, but please fix level advancement. More frustration... 2 days after I left the review, level advancement is now 3 levels! Please fix!

I really liked the old PC game and am glad to find it for the phone. A lot of people are complaining about the number of ads, but they must have a different version than the version I downloaded the other day. I have noticed ads when the player advances a level, but in no way would I call them excessive. Additionally one can purchase an upgrade to do away with the ads (the "watch an ad for a reward" option will remain according to the explanation next to the purchase option).

The game frequently kicks me out so I have to start over and lose the points I've gained (over 500,000 in one game today!). I wouldn't call this Bookworm "Classic" as it has limitations, such as a smaller grid and no more than three letter bonus words. As a game of it's own it's fun but it's not Bookworm. Also, I can't turn the music off, despite clicking and unclicking the music icon.

Fun. Ads come after each level, but they are short enough not be annoying. Game sticks at times when swiping on letters; after you clear (erase) the path you've made and try to go a different route game keeps picking same letter you've started with the 1st time, that is frustrating. Other than that, cool game. Similar to the original. Great to pass time.

It's not as good as the original due to it's smaller grid but for anyone who misses playing Bookworm it's well worth paying for the ad free version. The automatic game save means that you always carry on exactly where you left off , the only small complaints are that there are far too many 'I's and 'U's and there are no instructions.

In view of the fact that original full versions of Bookworm aren't available now (a huge disappointmt), this small version is still fun! This game is smaller, so players must work harder to create words from fewer tiles. It keeps score OK, and there are tutoring tips, if needed! I would really be happy if the full versions again become available!! But this small version will do for now! :)

The developers of this game have very, very limited English. There are many words that are not acknowledged or recognized. And the burning tiles come down in thick clusters, making it impossible to clear them when it is the majority of the tires all coming down at the same time. And another annoying feature is the constant game interruption with the "Next Level" that covers the screen every few words. The words it allows are very basic.
