Was great until recently, keeps opening ads when I go into a posts comment section. Really annoying and is not an issue on my side, no other apps detect touches in the bottom of the screen where boost ads are (such as Instagram stories, since a keyboard would come out if a tap was detected at the bottom of my screen). Update: It's worse now, happens almost every few posts. It's so annoying because the app that the ads open don't close with a single back button, u need to press it like 7 times
Update: Very impressed with the fast reply and fix. I've been on the fence about upgrading to adfree but have decided to do so. Keep up the good work! Original post: Recently I've been getting ads from Lazada that forcefully opens their page, and the back button doesn't work. It happens 9/10 times when I open comments. I know I didn't click on the ad because I tested by not touching my phone after opening comments, and it still diverted me. I don't even have Lazada installed. This is terrible.
I really like the app but I have the oddest bug that annoys me severely. Randomly I'll be scrolling and my screen brightness will jack up to ~100%. This is a repeatable event once it triggers (i.e. I can scroll down it goes away, scroll back up it happens again). Very, very annoying when you're using the app at night or no brightness and then have your cornea's blasted. Has persisted through updates. Otherwise, simply the best Reddit android client. Really hope the developer sees this, thanks.
Great interface that's close to the official reddit app, but improved upon even more with some light customizing and tweaking available. After having the official app no longer agree with the Pixel 6 Pro (getting too warm and draining the battery at an alarming rate), this app seems to have no bugs with the video player or optimization issues in general. Truly a breath of fresh air.
I wish I made the switch sooner. If you're looking for an alternative Reddit app that has a similar look and feel that the official one has, this is the client you're looking for! I've tried every reddit client on Google Play and Boost is the best. It has more features than most others and is smooth as butter. The ONLY downside is that there doesn't seem to be a way to swipe between posts. Hopefully a feature coming later!
I finally had enough of the reddit app doing so many unnecessary changes that I looked into the most recommended 3rd party app... and boost was it. So far I really love how sleek it is but there's one problem. My notifications had a glaring 1 on it and I can't figure out how to make it go away. Edit: Developer suggestion worked! Runs smooth as butter. Really enjoying so far.
This literally boosts the reddit experience! There are way more options for customisation and personalisation than what the official app offers. It might feel overwhelming going through them all, but trust me, it's worth it. Especially picture focused subreddits are taken to the next level. This app offers a gallery view, easy picture downloading into a subreddit specific folder and autoloading of the highest quality version of the pictures. Only negative is the bit oldish looking UI.
Simply the best Reddit app out there. I've tried all the ones I can find and I keep coming back to Boost. it has almost all the options you could need, good performance and a slick UI. my only request: could we get an option for swipe mode where comments are loaded and reachable by scroll? essentially swiping between detail views of posts. that would be the best view for me. other than that it's perfect.
Hey dev, Installed boost on a new device. No matter what I do, i can only see the multireddits on my subscriptions and not all the other subreddits i am subscribed to. Any idea how to deal with this? Also, multiple image downloads are not working. There is just a notification that pops up but the images are not saved. However images can be individually saved. Can you look into this ASAP. Thanks.
After using the official app for a while, I'm switched to Boost because of how much nicer the overall experience is. I like how it remembers which type of sort you used and how new comments are highlighted. Accessing multi reddits takes fewer taps. You can save searches. It also remembers where you left off in a thread if you revisit it. The only thing I miss is being able to give awards other than silver, gold, and platinum.
The absolute best reddit app available for Android. Extremely customizable. Ability to filter out many variables including subreddits, users, even words and phrases. Great media viewer with swipe functions. Most app issues are actually Reddit bugs, such as media not caching is a problem with the Reddit video format. Most importantly, the dev is responsive to bug reports and feature requests. Highly recommend this app.
Left Sync for Boost all because Sync doesn't have an option for Flair in Generating a post. Pleasantly surprised on how well this app is built. Only thing Boost is missing is previewing an post thumbnail without opening up post, just by pressing and holding on the thumbnail.
Amazing, cuts out a lot of the toxicity of Reddit. Some minor change would be good, I found that the interface was hard to understand at first and I needed to dig deep in the settings to find what I wanted.
Took a little to get used to as it's a little different from the official app but my goodness, it is such a treat to not have the video player failing on me all the time like the official app. Plus you can block subreddits and don't need to pay money to be a premium member to do that like the official app. I can't switch back now. 10/10
Great alternative to reddit! Everything seems well fleshed out, you can download videos without needing a bot, adding alt accounts are a breeze, and its UI is similar to reddit but it has its own flare to it. Honestly great app
The increase/pop up of ads have made it so you click on the ads by mistake more often. I was planning to buy the app because I love to use Reddit with it, but because of this underhanded tactic to get more ad clicks, you make me reconsider. It wasn't like this in previous updates.
EDIT 2022-05-03: I love this app, it even has some features I wish Reddit would implement for desktop. Very responsive dev who updates the important stuff but doesn't spam you with updates, good backup options and customisable look and feel. Sincerely hope this app stays available for as long as Reddit exists. The ads are not intrusive and the price for ad-free is one-time and really fair.
App was great, but now it's busted. It no longer asks for storage permission, and consequently crashes every time I try to save any media. If I log out, I cannot log back in. Reinstalling the app, clearing cache and data, nothing fixes it.
Been using it for years now. Started crashing on my new phone after browsing for a while. Still would recommend. See if it crashes for you. If not, you have a solid reddit app for your phone.
Over the last 6 mos, app has become almost unusable. Load times for media & sometimes comments is often EXTREMELY long, Independent of the connection being used. Other alternatives do not have this problem.
The ability for me not to re-order the buttons I want makes this a 3 star app. It also jumps to the top of the thread because of the scroll bar on the right of the screen, really annoying.
A large improvement to the default Reddit app, ad free is totally worth it, only small issue I've had is sometimes accidentally refreshing the home page making me have to scroll for ages to get back. Also a small suggestion is some kind of warning for YouTube links in comments as I don't like them overriding what I currently have open in the YouTube app.
Paid for no ad version to use on all my devices. It worked on my first phone, but on second still shows ads and shows to pay for no ad version. When I click to pay it generates an error that it's already paid but ads do not go away. I reinstalled the app I restarted phone twice. Still same issue. Help
Significantly better than the official app. If there was a way to differentiate settings between different Reddit accounts it'd be a 5/5 Also, browsing random subreddits will not show a sub as subscribed even if you were subscribed before getting it randomly. Subscribing to it through random does update it though, and does not seem to unsubscribe you if you were subscribed before.
App went through an update and now a lot of comments start out collapsed. Can't find a setting option to change this broken behavior. Boost has amazing additional functionality to make Reddit better but there's always something not quite right that stops it from being perfect.
Great app, way more functionality than the default reddit app. Gladly paid for it, keep up the good work! Some little improvement suggestions: some of the settings carry over between profiles, as does the history, while they should be separate. The dev is great and frequently implements features suggestes by the community
More stable than original reddit app. Edit: unfortunately it now regularly freezes and crashes on loading gifs, images and videos. Edit: On my new phone it works fine again. So I feel that my older phone was getting crippled by system updates (also adding a lot of ads to default apps that didn't have them, so scummy). And it was just getting too slow to handle Boost.
