I don't think I've ever given an app one star before. All I can say about this app is it runs. You can view you balance and send money. That's it. The app is functionally their as their website was in 2008. No Osko payments. No transfers on Weekends. No ability to update your contact details without calling them. No ability to email the bank. No Finger scanner or pin. No effort has been made to update it. This app is the reason I moved most of my banking to ING.
Still awful. Very close to switching banks. I wouldn't recommend anyone to bank through BOQ and the only reason I do is my partner is with them. It's been headache after headache with how clunky and backwards there systems are. Original comment written in 2020.... "I don't like having to put a full password in every time I want to log in. A 4 digit number should suffice. This app is very basic and needs upgrading so it's on parr with other major banking apps"
This has got to be one of the worst apps I've ever used. It keeps crashing, the option to tick "send receipt" after making a transfer or paying a bill doesn't work, there's no way to edit pending payments on the app. It's not particularly user friendly and while BOQ is a great bank from my experience, this app is disappointing to say the least.
It is a daily frustration. Still lags behind even the average banking app. Would like to have larger and mobile friendly buttons. Also, I think a software update on the background bank transfer system would be amazing. I would appreciate actually being able to put descriptors in for transactions between my accounts. Could do with speed improvements as well. It was last updated over 18 months ago.
Horrible. Have not been able to open login page to even access funds for close to 2 weeks, rendering the app completely unusable. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled to try and fix the issue and this didn't fix it. This is a huge issue; it's so useless that you can't even login to access or transfer funds! A major concern. Opened up bank accounts with Commonwealth Bank today and the App is so much better. I've been missing out for years. Leaving BOQ because the services are 5+ years behind.
Just an average app. The functionality is so poor compared to other banks i have accounts with. The interface is clunky and annoying- if you press back you sign out, in messages you go back to the first pages even if you were on page 5 for example. The sign in options are dated- why no pin or biometric scanning. It works, so it gets 1 star, but it's just so unbelievably lame- badly needs an update
This app is terrible. You can't see pending transactions which makes it very difficult to manage cash flow. If you press back one too many times it logs you out and you have to sign in with your password. It's not user friendly, it's awful and boxey and lacking many, many features. I hope they give it a complete overhaul soon or I may even switch banks.
Lacks most of the features of the web version. Would be acceptable in 2009, but not in 2019. No fingerprint login? Can't rename accounts in app? No card management, such as pin change or temporarily block/report lost? Pretty terrible interface - looks like a non-responsive mobile website from a decade ago. Maybe have a look at the ANZ app and make some similar improvements.
The most ridiculously outdated banking app around. Glitches often and won't allow you to log in, won't allow you to do all the things the website will so I am often not able to use it for what I need. It often logs me out mid use. All round not user friendly and doesn't have the abilities a lot of other banks have modernised theirs with. The inaccessibility has definitely got me considering banking elsewhere not only because of the app but the website too
User experience is similar to a website in the 90's. You have to enter your password every time you open it. Password doesn't allow use of special characters so which feels insecure. No pin or finger print options either. Loads grindingly slowly. If you hit the back button... It boots you out of the app and you have to enter password again. The "view your pending payments" claim on the website is a joke. Pending payments for you credit cards do not show up, period. Obismal in this day and age!!
Terrible App. Have used for many years now and it is so outdated. Especially compared to the other banking Apps I use. Not particularly user friendly. Very limited ability to do things within app. Desperately needs updating. The competitors apps (Nab, ANZ, Com bank) are far out classing them. Pity as I like banking with BOQ. We live in a digital age come on BOQ step up!
Really is a horrid app. User interface is sluggish, unresponsive and is what i would call the opposite of intuitive. To the point where it's like they want you to be frustrated using this app. I've changed banks and one of the reasons is for a better app.
Have never been able to login after several years so I wouldn't even know what the app is actually like. The tech department couldn't even help. I may have to change banks who have an up to date working App. I am astounded that they have not done anything about it. Very poor representation and promotion of their brand.
I've had a good experience with boq. But this app is just trash and I'm seriously getting sick of the lack of depth and control of my own money. atleast add a pin or fingerprint funtion so we can check balance quicky. It's all this app is useful for.
Poor quality app, especially comparing to other banks (even other smaller banks). There is no way to make signing in easier (you have to put your password in everytime), I had to google the BSB because it isn't with the account number, doesn't show pending transactions, and it looks like it was designed in 2004. This is in dire need of a makeover.
This is a very basic App, like an early app from 10 years ago in the early mobile apps age. There is no finger print security log on, no PIN log on, no easy way to make payments. It's not really an app but a portable version of the website. Every time I open this app, I wish I stayed with ANZ. Their app is not the greatest, but brilliant by comparison.
So hard to use, no pin or fingerprint log in, no quick balances on screen without log in and transactions don't show until cleared. Between my partner and I we are with 3 other banks and their apps are so much easier to use. It makes me want to leave the bank completely!
Awful. Just awful. It's actually not an app; just a mobile web app bundled into an app package. No biometric or PIN authentication, doesn't work with the phone's back button (logs you out). Basic functionality is there - otherwise it'd be one star. But come on guys. Hire some student interns and iterate at least something usable.
clunky and outdated. really needs to be updated and refreshed. no option to use fingerprints to log in. have to click on the app and then again to enter to go to put in password. should just open app and get taken to lig in page. hate app but it's all they have as going through web browser on phone is slower!
It works, but leaves a lot to be desired. I switched from Bankwest to BOQ and boqs app is severely lacking. I am given confidence from their annual report, however, which indicates they're going to invest in the area. Any mobile improvements are huge for customer acquisition - have a look at how well the neobanks in Europe are doing.
Please update this! Horrible app to use just to check my account balance. Would always have to type in my full password rather than just a pin, I get logged out and it forgets my details so I end up using the mobile app where my details are already saved (even though the app is basically just a link to the mobile website version), and then when I try to log in using my CAN number it doesnt work! Even though the interest rate is great with BOQ, I'm considering moving banks just because of the app
After being with CBA for years and using their wonderful app, discovering how much BOQ's app is lacking truly is surprising. The app lacks elegance, responsiveness, and useful features such as support for NFC payments or unlocking using fingerprints. In this digital age of ours BOQ should do better on this front, have their digital services match the quality of their in-person services.
Haven't had an update for about a year. i want to change banks solely because this app is so bad. Every time i transfer money, it takes 2 or 3 attempts and I've even had times where it just wouldn't work at all. BOQ isn't moving forward with technology. All the other bank apps are years ahead
A bank app thats 10 years behind. This app is horrible, its so basic, even the app image on phone is blurred. Once logged into your account you cannot do what you can in other apps ie, request a new card apply for a loan, update details etc! There is no function to even activate your card or choose your pin. Its 2019 boq common!
Very basic app which front-face appears pixels. Some functions are outdated. Not completely unusable app, as you can still check accounts and do very basic straightforward transactions. For more complicated financial transactions you will need to access online website.
Hasn't changed for like 10 years and shows. Bare bones functionality exactly the same as the website login. More importantly if I want to cancel my account by email I have to "send a message via internet banking", and the functionality to do that doesn't exist.
Truly awful. Clunky design, highly limited features and what little is there is either partially nonfunctional or with so few options to the point of inconvenience. No pin or fingerprint access, type your full password out every time! The app opens to a self-advertising page, it's easy to accidentally log out, transfers can't be scheduled or set to repeat, the ability to download eStatements broke 6 months ago and isn't fixed as of writing. The issues are obvious, they don't care. Switch banks.
