AS OF DEC 2018 THIS APPLICATION IS NO LONGER COMPATIBLE WITH NVIDIA SHIELD. I have contacted the developer and they insist the problem is a hardware issue . No other applications are experiencing similar issues.. The problem is clearly with the application. (Most likely with DRM and interfacing with the Play API). I have contacted Nvidia and they insist the problem is not a hardware issue. AVOID THIS PRODUCT. SUPPORT IS BASICALLY NON-EXISTENT. IT IS NOT SHIELD COMPATIBLE.
As of Dec 1 2018, this game does not work on the Nvidia Shield TV. It throws an error about Google Play services not being installed on the device. 2K blames Google and Google says talk to 2K, so naturally the consumer is left with no recourse. Edit: It's now the new year and there still isn't a resolution to this issue. If you Search NVIDIA forums and reddit you find suggestions to uninstall updates to Google Play Services or Google Play Store and that does work temporarily, until the apps update again.
This was a great game on the 360 and this port certainly looks the part but it randomly crashes on my Shield K1 (took 5 attempts to get past the first mission) so I can't give it a higher score.
This Title does not work, The license verification fails every time Upon reading on reddit it seems this is not a recent issue but one that extends for some time, I wish I had read the threads sooner... I am unsure of who is the weak link in the Chain (Nvidia, 2k, or Google) but I know I'm going to be needing a refund Just to clarify as well, I have contacted Nvidia and Their Customer support was unable to help, I have also logged a ticket with 2k and have heard nothing back, Google are you going to allow this app to remain up when its clearly broken? in short for now its a scam.... Run!
BEWARE!! Game plays fantastic until you reach the 3rd play through, at which point you can deal no damage and receive no damage which makes the game unplayable.
Every time i start it says "license check failed, check your network connection and try again." I can not play at all. very disappointing.
Great game but it stopped working. Something changed in the Google Play and the game can't start. Please Google, you are the loose link, fix it.
I just can't install this game normally. Downloaded the apk from yalp and the data fron random website. (download always failed without any warning). Both on Nvidia Shield TV and Mipad 1.. also on Yalp Store.
Doesn't work anymore on Shield K1, not compatible anymore, please fix or refund. I haven't even finished it yet
A very good game, but the developer 2k has pulled support now. 2k are a really appalling company for causing this mess.
Received an Nvidia shield for xmas and first game i installed was this, now have realised the developers are continuing to sell this knowing full well it does not work.
The PS Vita is no longer the worst version of Borderlands 2.

Game does not work on Shield K1 tablet. 2K are false advertising this game as working on the tablet as clearly read in the sales description. It is illegal to false advertise 2K, this makes your company involved in illegal activities.. 2K you have disgusting practices, go back to the hell that spawned you, before you do please put my money back in my bank, thank you..

Update: game works perfectly now. I'm not sure if its because 2k fixed the issue or me upgrading my SD to a ss-pro plus did it. Either way great game, too many permissions just to play bl2 tho
I just downloaded the game onto my Shield Tablet and so far it seems to be running okay. My only complaint is that there are no SHIFT codes for the Android version of the game. If there are no plans to start making codes for the Android version, then I think we should be able to start the game with a decent amount of Golden Keys, since there is no other way to get them. Start giving us access to keys and I'll give 5 stars.
I love Borderlands. Have it on a few different consoles. But with this port I can't even bring up my inventory with the Matricom G-PAD BX. I can use the same controller to play the game on the ps3 with no issues. Support basically told me to use a different controller, which I don't have. With better controller support it would be 5 stars.
It was really fun not as laggy as everyone said but it wouldn't sign into play afterwards I even cleared the data Edit:I changed to a different wifi and it connected almost instantly I love this game I don't get much lag honestly also for anyone that says it won't save make sure you press choose character and make sure you are on the right character
Your download service is a shame. No, not my connection and I -will- post the necessary humiliating screenshots if you try that route. My connection is more then adequate but I'm waiting for your game since the last 7.5 hours so I've decided I won't wait for the undoubtedly crappy framerate to one-star your game
It's a fun game, but it has an extremely irritating bug. Several times I have loaded up a save to find that my badass points were all reset, and I lost all the skins that I had unlocked. This has occurred a good 9 or 10 times already. I'd give this game 5 stars if it wasn't for that.
I can't get it to install for the life of me. Google play store keeps giving me an error, but downloading any other app works fine. And I can't even get a refund because I keep retrying over and over again but it freezes at like 20% and then doesn't continue the install. It constantly gives the error code of 429.
Works great, have yet to have any loading or lag issues. Only issue I have had just happened a few minutes ago, restarted, reloading, relogging did not fix it. The issue, lost my badass rank/rewards, it got reset. Hope they figure out a way to add all the dlc to this tho, i miss playing with Gaige.
This is a great game and it is amazing that I can play this on my tablet. The biggest problem is the performance: frequent low frame rate and audio glitches is very annoying even on the lowest settings. Borderlands tps performance was good so I hope this will fixed to be the same. It would also be nice of dlc becomes available
Well to start this is one of the first games I purchased for the nvidia shield and to be very honest, its one of the best ports of the game I have seen on a mobile device (the other being the PS vita version but we don't talk about that version here). It runs great at medium settings with effects on when you set your shield tablet to max performance. I'm giving this game an high rating because it runs great on my shield tablet and comes out looking better than the Xbox 360 version. However I shouldn't be we surprised as the K1 chip set I'd actually more powerful than the Xbox 360
To many bugs. Constantly force closes constantly freezes. Where's the update had it since day 1 still waiting. It's ashame could be good but too buggy to laggy just a bad job and 2k won't update or support. Stay away I say it's a waste of money
Short version - does not work, if you buy this you will be wasting your money - don't make the same mistake I did, don't fund this! Long version - I'm sure the Borderlands games are/were great, but, unfortunately, the Android port has been severely neglected, meaning that it will NO LONGER WORK on any current version of Android (it requires Google Play services V 13.2.92, which hasn't been vaguely current for over a year , and now hangs at startup with a "Play Services" error message). I've engaged with support, but they don't seem to care that much, and, researching the issue, I've become aware of other purchasers that have been reporting problems since Feb 18. Putting these games into the Dec 18 Christmas sale when they knew that they were unplayable on all current versions does seem to be very customer-focused behaviour on behalf of 2K games, and the response from their support has been dismissive at best (they've now closed the ticket on me, with no resolution, and no refund) I'm always very reluctant to claim "SCAM!" - but I'd have to say that this does seem very fishy, especially given the fact that the size of the game (download time) means that the Google refund fails!
