Works well once you've found your book. Only gave it 4* because when you're going through the list of titles available and tap on one to find out more about it, when you close the summary it takes you back to the head of the list and not where you'd left off browsing. Otherwise, I think that it's as good as Kindle but, obviously, cheaper.

Four reviewers with exactly the same problem since 22 May. Update Although I specifically said that I had reinstalled more than once the developers one suggestion was to reinstall the app. Helpful! Frustrating The last update caused problems like the previous reviewer had so I reinstalled the app. The past few days I can't turn a page without the editing box on the screen. As soon as I swipe to turn it appears and only then can I turn a page but only near the top.

There has recently been an upgrade that mean I have to touch the screen 3 times to turn to the next page and carry on reading. It used to be one swipe, now I have to touch the page, swipe them touch the page. I can't find any settings to adjust this and it was working great until last few days.

I discovered Borrow Box during Lockdown. Best find ever! I enjoy all the books that I down load and helps pass the time and it's all free!!! It's so easy to use and all the different categories, there are books to suit everyone, young and old! I look forward to many hours of reading Long may it continue

The recent update has made reading ebooks very frustrating. They're not downloading properly, constant circles on the bottom of the page, sticking when I try to read on, crashing constantly. I've tried reloading the app with no success. This is a great service as a rule, and I've never had an issue in 2 years until now.

I loved this app, so easy to use and great for borrowing audiobooks, but this most recent update has left the app not opening properly. Everytime I open the app it freezes on the opening page with an 'updating library' warning at the bottom, but the line that used to move along the bottom is grey (not green) and then nothing happens. I will try uninstall/reinstall but not holding my breath for an improvement. Hoping there's another beneficial update soon! I currently can't access anything

Great app. But sometimes it woukd be great to have books in series order. Sometimes books are missing and it makes it hard to continue the story line.. 12th May 2022. since the update the progression graph does not move and if there are more books on loan and there is a delay in continuance of reading, all the books look like they haven't been opened.

I recently rejoined the library and this app way exceeded my expectations. There is a really decent selection. One thing I would love to see one day (although as a free app I'm not sure how likely we are to get it) is when you are look at a book, I would love at the bottom of the page for there to be a "similar books" or "readers of this also read" type of recommendations rather than just showing other works by the same author.

This app is brilliant. It could be improved with more books though, I do find it a bit limited in comparison to other platforms. It would be great if all classics were included across the board no matter which library. For example, Samuel Pepys Diary isn't on mine which is a classic and useful for school children. It is free though, so I can't complain 😊

Brilliant App. Started using during 'lockdown' and so far I've never had any issues. Used to loan books and audio books. So useful when the pennies are short. I love audiobooks and the library has a wonderful selection. I'm trying to get used to digital books but this app makes that process easy. So happy to have found this app. Very highly recommended.

The book search process is a bit clunky: even if you select 'Available Only' it often shows books that are On Loan and without any availability dates. Also, if you look at details of a book and decide not to borrow it, selecting 'Back to results' takes you right back to the top of the list of search results. A pain! Latest update seems to have removed the Advanced view options where you can adjust line spacing, etc.? Why?

Easy to use and great choice of both audio and electronic books. Provides readers with the facility to create a reading list and reserve books in advance so that you never miss an opportunity to borrow the books you want. Readers can renew on line. Great way of taking reading material with you when travelling and on holiday. Don't have to worry about weight limits ☺️

It's frustrating to use for audio books and would be better if it remembered the one you are currently or last listening to so you could just click play. I also find it frustrating that I can't quickly pause without going into the app itself when most other apps that play audio on an android have a "quick pause" type of facility from the lock screen or swipe down. (Audible, spotify, Amazon Music, Samsung, Googlebooks etc)

Only using it for ebooks so far but I'm really pleased with it. Wide range of books. On most books you can click chapter headings in the table of contents to go straight to that chapter. One drawback is maps and diagrams- they're too difficult to read as you would on paper. Screenshot them so that you can zoom in.

Edit: Almost all the bugs have been fixed, thank you!! I still find that despite many updates my books reset to page 1 each morning. Luckily the bookmark does work so I can find my page. I would also love an option to make the background darker than the paper and sepia settings which are exactly the same on my screen.

Absolutely love this app it's so easy to use. So many books to choose from and easy to download- just make sure I download at home with WFI on! Ive listened to more books in last 2 months than have read in the last 18months !! Love listening to an audio book as going to sleep and really like that you can set sleep timer. My only negatives are - trying to find my place when fallen asleep before timer and sometimes have to reserve the most books in demand which I've found can be upto 6 months.

Mostly positive. Love the way this app keeps where you are up to and lets you rewind in 30s steps if you are interrupted. This happens at least once a day for me, so this is a very useful function. Only negatives are the time it takes to load, and that you have to reload to restart, whereas you can pause by using a cut down version.

A great way to access audiobooks. It's a simple and clear app with a good range of books and works faultlessly. Could be improved by changing the playback speeds. There is too big a difference between options (1, 1.25X, 1.5, etc) but also goes to pointlessly fast speeds (2.5 and 3X).

Great app for readers on the go! Love this app so much! I was originally using it for just ebooks but just this month I had found a love for audiobooks and am astounded at how many I've got through- just this week, alone - whilst working, setting a sleep timer, pottering about the place, tidying. Even if it's just a few moments, I instantly go to this app (over social media too). And all you need is a library card to access it! Fantastic resource with ample choice of books!

Good app but could be better. It's slow to load and the categories are not very accurate. Hate to complain about a free app but it could be better. Recently it has started to keep the menu up on the page and you have to tap it to disappear every time. I think an update is needed.

The borrowbox app is a great service all accessible from your armchair! You can potentially book the books out for up to 6 weeks. Try not to book too many books out at once otherwise their time may expire before you can get a chance to read them, although you can always book them out again if available. Occasionally the system has a hiccup & it closes down and/or changes page but benefits outweigh the hiccups.

Since the update, audiobooks now lose their place when re-starting, which is pretty frustrating. Also no function to bookmark where you finish, to make it easier to find your place again. Before the update, aside from the lack of bookmarks the app worked fine.
