Bosch Mobile Scan

This thing is junk. if you do manage to get it to work, it will only read a code if the engine light is still on. Save yourself the frustration and buy a corded version and don't add unreliable bluetooth on top of your car troubles. It forced me to do an update last time I tried to use it - which kept failing. Now it's not even detected as a bluetooth device. Just sits there and blinks at you. Not helpful at all!

The app wasn't good to start but Bosch made it worse when they forced new software that requires the OBD to verify that the car is stationary in order to connect to the app. The app is useless for wheel speed sensor or any diagnostic that requires the vehicle is in motion. This product is a frustrating waste of time. oh....and the mobile scan does not work at all with Samsung Galaxy 8 or higher. It's a poor performance by Bosch. I expect junk like this from Harbor Freight Tools. Sad.

Don't buy this device and help smash the app with 1 star reviews if you don't like the limitations that have been added. Bosch labotomized the device with the update that turns off the mobile scan when the vehicle starts moving. Then to make things worse they require unplugging the scan tool before it will work again. They could get the same effect by having the app not refresh the screen when driving and store the data for later review instead.

This app used to work well, but I, like so many others have stated, cant get it to connect to the app on my Samsung S9+. Bluetooth pairs properly but the connection device won't talk to the app. I'd give it a zero stars if I could, because both the adapter and the app now have zero value as they are unusable. In response to another user stating that Bosch said it was a Samsung problem... nope - it's your job to work around with your programming. Fix the app and I'll give a higher rating.

Quit working. Don't waste time or money on this since the last update it will pair by bluetooth but the app will not connect and operate like it used to. When the app worked it was really good it give you the error code with the explanation and possible solutions along with give you engine speed, temperature, oil pressure, and other information. Now it just gives a circle trying to connect then give a message to pair it by bluetooth.

Bluetooth connection is in and out. Keeps saying 'no adapter detected. please plug adapter in to connect.' when it is connected and was just giving scan info. Also, app no longer gives up to the minute information for emissions. You now have to scan, remove adapter, drive, stop, turn off vehicle, reconnect adapter, put key in ignition, reconnect, rescan. And if your needed data isn't available yet, do it all over again. $100+ for an OBDII reader that cant give live data. Keep the receipt.

Was apprehensive when I read that app might not work with newer version android. Proceeded with the download and used my obd scanner as instructed. It took a little patience and time to get it set up, but once set up and connected got the full read and was able to find the error code for my engine light. At the end got it for a good price and got the job done.

Samsung Users BEWARE! This app will no longer connect to the Bluetooth OBDII dongle after the latest phone update. Called the 800 number for BOSCH support, and the technician answering the phone was friendly, but powerless to help because he said that the latest Samsung update broke something in how it handles Bluetooth. And, scarily enough, it would require Samsung to fix what got changed. Until now, the app has worked great, doing exactly as it should. It probably still works on other phones.

doesnt work on Android 9.0 (on my Note 9). just acts like its trying to connect to the mobile scanner, but never does.. will even say its not connected. it'll pair just fine, but never connect to the program. tried everything i could think of like uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing data, etc. no fix... so please fix it!

Well, with the new update, just like everyone else, I was experiencing issues with the app, but what I did to solve the issue is I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled the app as if it were new. After doing this, the problem of the app not running properly was corrected, and now it works just fine. If anyone is experiencing problems, which from the recent reviews everyone is, I would suggest trying what I did and see if that works out better for you...!

No sale!!! Decided not to even too buy the scan tool, because of all the most recent horrible 1 star revews. What good is a scan tool that won't show "real" time while in motion. I Complete understand the safety aspect. This needs to be stressed on start-up before diagnosis in real time procedures can begin, and allowed to proceed!!!

This product used to be a fantastic scanner, it was flawless until the most recent update it absolutely will not work for me it will connect only once or twice an hour and if it does connect it will not stay connected. I'm pretty pissed seeing as I laid $100 for this thing.

It works when it wants to, I had to unistall app and reinstall only to see if it will connect adapter, if they could fix this, this tool would be worth it, but I guess it makes sense to spend more on higher scanners with no issues, then again you still need updates on those as well, money money money.......

For the love of God, do not buy this POS scanner. Go on Amazon, find one that won't charge you a fee for the privilege of using the phone you paid for to hook up to the scanner you paid for to check out the car you paid for. Don't be a fool like me. I thought I could trust the Bosch name. I couldn't. On top of the app being a buggy and poorly designed POS that doesn't work too well, you have to pay for every vehicle you scan. Yeah, you'd think you'd be able to use the device you paid for. But nope, you have to pay to use your phone to use your scanner to plug into your car. This is like if Netflix made you pay $20 every time you turned your TV on. If you are fool like me, it will need an update before you use it. It will tell you to turn the ignition off. Don't, or it won't ever actually complete the update.

The app no longer connects to the device. I can pair to my device fine but the app will not communicate with the scanner. I have only had this problem since the last update. The app and scanner are now completely useless.

Can't read ABS codes. I bought and lost one a few years back. Paid to get these features unlocked. Fast forward to today, All the features are supposedly unlocked (sure am glad I paid extra for it) but the features are unusable / don't work.

So I'm an app developer, and these idiots are giving my industry a bad name. I called support, because clearly everyone was just missing a setting and there's a trick, right? Nope. Not only is this incompatible with at a bare minimum all Samsung phones, and apparently anything past android 6, but THEY KNOW IT AND HAVE FOR OVER A YEAR, AND STILL HAVEN'T FIXED IT!!! 0 stars isn't a rating, so they get 1. I will never buy another Bosch product again.

Used to be 3 stars with a clunky and hard to navigate menu. They updated the app and it was better, but now the bluetooth wont connect to a Galaxy S10 phone. Don't bother buying it, get a Blue Driver from Amazon instead.

Used to work until latest update, now it cannot connect to the tool. I also use the word "work" very loosly here. Even before the update the app was clunky with spotty functionality as if it was programmed with a typewriter.

app used to be good but now that the vehicle HAS to be stationary there are a lot of things i cant test accurately that i could do before. just put an "i am a passenger" button to release personal liability so that me and my friends CAN do the same tests as before without having to disconnect the VSS and risk a ticket not knowing how fast we are going. dumbest "feature" you guys could have implemented in this update..

Use mine on multiple vehicles for the last 4 years! Works great in data mode and pulling codes. I have used it on three different Android devices and my wife uses it on her iPhone. The only issue is being Bluetooth, it's easy to leave behind... Had 2 clients let me know I let it behind...

The adaptor won't even connect to my app on the phone. Updated it off of a tablet in order to get it running but it has a connectivity issue with galaxy s9 as stated by their customer support. Was simply told to wait for an update to see IF it will work later.

Actual trash. The device used to work okay, with the current update it is completely useless. I work at an auto parts store that sells these and every single one has been returned under warranty within the week.

Since the new firmware update (3.1) on the reader you constantly have to unplug it and plug it back to work. Not just re-connect with Bluetooth, I mean you have to unplug the device and plug back in to the vehicle.

Had this product for over a year and it worked fine. Helped me troubleshoot problems on my wife's car. I updated the app, now nothing. Won't even connect. I have trusted Bosch products for years with no problems. Please fix the problem or give me my money back.
