this app worked great on my pixel 4, not so much on my pixel 6. the display is a little wonky but not terrible, but the mic sensitivity and tuning sensitivity seem to be substantially worse to the point that I can only use the app for the tuning fork/reference note. the tuner itself only works correctly if there's very little background/room noise. it works in a pinch but it's far from ideal

The number 1 best tuner on the app store. I have litterally tried every other "best tuner app" and they were terrible. This app is easy to read and precise. It doesnt only let you tune in Standard like all the others, it is like an actual tuner that tells you what note you are playing and where you're at on the spectrum. The other tuner apps out there make you pay if you want to tune to any other tuning. Thank you so much!!!!

It's very good. Just make sure the room is quiet. Not because it's hard of hearing. But quite the opposite. It can pick up a fart from across the room. Or t.v. sounds, or conversations. It's for a quiet place only. lol. I've been playing guitar for over 12 years now. And I really would not suggest a new player buys a guitar tunner. This is free it's very good. I mean it's too. I even have an old H.T.C. phone in my case instead of my old tuner. The phone is slimmer, and can just recharge. Unlike my old korg tuner. And.sadly it's more accurate too. The only tunner I use anymore other than this app. Is a pedal tunner. Which is only for on stage purposes. When I'm plugged in and Can't use the phone. like quicly in between songs. Or when others are warming up themselves, talking or basically just a lot of background noises. But.if your just at home, or just practising. I really recommend this app. At least as a starter. If.nothing else. Compare free to $100. Then you make the call if it worth a shot or not. It you like it cool. If not then delete it and find another app or pay for a really tuner. It up to you and your preferences. For me. I'm sticking with this. I'm just writing a review because I'm installing it in another free old phone. That I'm only going to use for this duty. Just to throw this one in one of my acoustics cases.

Interface is a little glitchy and jumpy looking. It's kind of a cool idea to mimic a physical pedal but I don't feel it's accurate, or at least doesn't give me confidence from the display. The most frustrating thing however is there is no way to opt-out of the news and the only way to clear the notifications it to click on each one which opens a browser window. 😕

This is pretty sharp, spot on accurate. I installed it after losing my clip on guitar tuner. I can tune by ear alone but like to check it is perfectly tuned, using an electronic device. To feel secure. I thought this would be hard and unreliable but it was easy, very accurate and trustworthy. No excuses for out of tune guitar playing. Bad enough playing wrong notes/chords, without adding out of tune guitar and probably off key, out of tune voice. Guitar in tune gets one fundamental thing right,

[Tip use an external microphone] I was expecting much less, such as some kind of pay wall, only being able to use less than half of the features, things like that, and yet I was actually surprised & impressed by this app. It definitely exceeded my expectations. I even kinda like the catalog that it comes with. Definitely could do with out it and it wouldn't be much of a loss in any way. I just hope that they keep it updated, since we're stuck with it. I also have it on more than one device. BOSS

perfect application. Does exactly as it is supposed to. well surprising that it is free as it's the perfect tuner. I could imagine it not being ideal tuning from your devices mic if you were out and about in a gig setting or something. but has been absolutely perfect for myself when tuning both electric, acoustic & bass at home In my little home studio set up. recommend this app to any n all musicians.

In the age of annoying ads and being constantly bothered with pop ups to review, this app is a god send. It just does what you want it to, and really well at that. I don't usually review apps but had to express my appreciation. Awesome app that I'll never uninstall and it'll probably be the first thing I download on my next phone or tablet.

it works... kinda. even after putting my device to the body of my guitar it jumps around a lot and seems to never really settle down on one specific key. good enough to get you in a ballpark and tune the rest by ear. the reference pitch works to do this as well but it seems to limited only to the key A which isn't helpful if your like myself and you tune down a full step. I saw the name BOSS and got excited only to be somewhat disappointed. sorry guys but that is my opinion.

No use to me. Interface not great, and results inaccurate - some notes on my Yamaha digital portable grand piano (consistently accurate tuning of course) came up ok but others bizarrely shown as being some way off (by semitones, not just a little bit) so uninstalled. Ended up with Pano Tuner after trying several free tuners, that seems the best so far. I wanted to tune a Kalimba which is quite tricky, and BOSS just couldn't do it.

I put it up against the real pedal and I can say that both were in sync with each other. I grabbed this to tune acoustic guitars. That way I don't have to mic up the guitar into the pedal. Don't get me wrong I love the tu-3 it's my most used pedal.

I've downloaded quite a few tuners and this Boss tuner wins. You play your guitar notes/strings into your phones mic and this tuner tells you if you are in-tune or not. If the lights drift to the left, the note/string is flat. If the lights drift to the right your note/string is too sharp. If the light stops in the middle, your note/string is in-tune. Its chromatic as well meaning you can tune "any note" not just standard tuning! Real nice interface as well. Great work Roland!

I've been using this app for years and it quickly became my favorite tuning app. Not only can you use it to tune your instruments, but you can also use it for vocal tuning, pitch training, and strengthening your voice for speaking and singing! 👍😉👍

good tuner, have had the BOSS T-10 for years untill the battery clip broke so now im using this. it would be nice if there was an option to simplify the screen a bit, theres alot going on at once and i kinda just wanna see the gauge and notes.

Superb digital facsimile of the tangibly actual BOSS analog chromatic tuning pedal par excellence, the TU-2! Pixels can't manifest themselves physically but they come close in this app for the average tin-eared idiot! (I'm talking to YOU, dude!) I can promise you THIS much: You CAN tune your guitar with this app! AND you can pretend you've spent extra on the totally ridiculous "Waza Craft" version, by simply changing the appearance of the onscreen faux-pedal approximation displayed! Woo!

Brilliant. Looks and works just like my favourite guitar tuner - I love it! The "needle" LED indicator is less stable (but probably more accurate and faster responding) than my dear old Boss TU2 pedal, which is uniquely stable, more like the other electronic tuners I have used (inc. 2 Korgs). I prefer the stability of my actual Boss pedal but this app is fabulous - thank you Boss!

Not displaying correctly in Poco X3 NFC Android 11. The "LEDs" and background is off by a good whack and therefore is horrid to look at. My last phone Axon 7 displayed perfect.

Ale. B. Nov 18, 2020

This thing just jumps up and down even in a completely silent room. It picks the pitch of the string played for a half a second and starts doing it again. The sensitivity settings don't do nothing and to me it's completely useless. 1 star for being it from Roland. I have a few boss pedals and gt3 which are amazing but stick to what you do best and forget about apps like this c.ap.

very very good app, easy to use, has a menu to change many features, srings old and it seems a tad sensitive? yup you can can reduce the sensitivity a bit. i'm very very happy with this app, it does just what's needed and needs nothing by way of new programming :-)

Free, no in-app purchases, and no ads? And it's by the brand name company?! Thank you, BOSS! I have a BOSS TU-3 tuner but I have a 12 string acoustic that can't be plugged into it, and was elated when I found this app. Only nitpick is that the mode and stream/cent buttons are cosmetic only.

Dav. S. Oct 22, 2021

For free, can't grumble. Display is of an authentic Roland Boss TU-3 pedal. Looks cool. But tuning fork function is, frankly, stupid, without list of pitches to pick from, instead a slider to pick any frequency between 110Hz and 880, default 440. Guitars have lowest string at 88 and highest 330. So it won't generate a pitch as low as a standard tuning guitar. And the default pitch is top string, 5th fret. A crazy and useless feature.

The best guitar tuner app, Simply the best , unbeatably user friendly for novice and experts equally. I love the UI of the app. Simple but marvellously effective beyond thoughts. Second to none . A PIECE OF ADVICE FOR ALL NOVICE OUT THERE: TO TUNE PERFECTLY JUST TIGHTEN UP ALL THE STRINGS A LI'L BIT IF YOUR GUITAR HAS BEEN AT REST FOR A WHILE. NO OFFENCE INTENDED FOR ANYONE

The. P. Feb 7, 2020

The pedal is an industry standard, but I found this app too sensitive for my stage use using a cell mic. Almost too sensitive for the shop. I had it turned down low as it would go, and it would still jump around a lot. But that's just me.

Excellent app with a lot of settings to tune - haha get it - to your liking. Only minus is the 7-segment display: it's slightly higher than shown on screenshots, right in the middle of the arc. I'm using OnePlus 6T.

Tim. B. Feb 15, 2020

Had no trouble with my BEAD bass! Usually these apps need bassists to play harmonics to get accurate readings but this one confidently told me exactly how out of tune my bottom B string was. Nice and easy to read, with a rapid display update rate too. Almost magical!

TMG. F. Feb 14, 2021

I downloaded this app because I got tired of all the notifications with the last tuner app that I used. It seems to work ok but the first time I downloaded it I didn't allow it to record sound and it didn't work. There was nowhere to turn that on so I had to download it again and allow it to record.

Somewhere between mediocre and hot garbage... display doesn't line up with background (at least on my S20+), making it very hard to read; and the not jumps like mad...I tried to get a screenshot (thinking I could put it in my review) while playing a consistent D on an organ, and the shot got me an A...
