Was hoping this app would be free, but after a few days I got the typical message that I needed a subscription to continue. Sorry, I'm gone. They think too much of their selves. I won't pay for news given all the ads. Lots of webpages without subscription. And poor format and writing to boot. Your business model is older than Howie, my only reason to read you.
The layout is not as good as the old version. Prefer a newspaper type presentation. Prior app had first screen with all the hand lines visible to pick and choose your subject.
Lay out is terrible and ads are everywhere! The basic ability to swipe to next story not available, that's ridiculous! Can't believe rating is 3, should be a 1.
No longer free on the app. Avoid from now on. Going to uninstall. Not sure who thought this was a good idea but they were wrong.
The new app is horrible!!!! Bring back the old one. Terrible navigation options, who the hell did the Herald hire to design this and who gave the OK to launch it.
When you open the app the headline font is too small to read. The articles can be adjusted but the headlines cannot.
I love the paper, the app can be a little wonky at times. But disclaimer: I run beta OS on my devices, so it can be expected.
This was a free app. Now 139.00 a year. I no longer read the boston globe because of subscription requirements. Now I'll no longer read the herald as well.
Inability to swipe to next story is ridiculous! That should be a basic feature!

App was free but now we need to set up an account to read the news. Who needs another account and password? I am dumping this app.

They're trying to charge us for news that we can get anywhere for free LOL LOL. I guess they don't realize that news is a commodity and it can be found anywhere for free. So Good by Herald. I'll just wait for the Howie Carr stories when they post on Facebook

Don't like the new format. Older version presented much better!
A big no to the "have to create an account to read anything", especially for a sub-par app. Oh, and apparently everyone else thinks so too....never seen so many one star reviews.

Charging for news on an app
I don't understand the hate. The app works well.
Not a huge fan of the new layout, but the articles themselves do read better than before. Where's the option to reduce or customize notifications? Can't find them in settings. Way too many of them and short of turning them off in Android settings would be nice to customize first.
