Boulder Challenge

App to create and share your own boulder problems on every climbing / home / gym / spray / chaos / system / training wall by simply taking a picture and easily specifying the definition.

Every wall, every boulder, anytime! Share it with your friends and the Boulder Challenge Community.

Search, find or create locations:
- You can search for bouldering gyms and climbing gyms, as well as create your own at any time, if the location does not yet exist in the app. So far (as of June 2019) almost 500 commercial gyms are already registered for Germany. If you have your own private boulder cellar, of course you can also add it on your own.
- Save the gyms where you are climbing often in your personal favorites. So you can quickly get to your favorite locations and others can see that you're a local there.

Create, climb and discuss boulders:
- For each location you can find all the boulders already created there. You can comment and rate them, save them under your favorites and add them as "topped out" to your personal ticklist.
- Adding a new boulder is easy: you take a picture of the desired wall area or select an existing image from your smartphone. Then you can mark the allowed hand and foot holds. Of course, you can also specify a name, optional level of difficulty and description, as well as much more about your boulder if you want.
- How detailed you define your boulder is up to you. Start and end must always be stated. If necessary, you can also specify each hold more precisely. For example, if a hold only with the left hand may be used or it is only a hand hold, but not a foot hold. If that's not enough, you can even add a note to each marker.
- You can zoom into the image of your boulder to see even small details. Of course, you can also move and delete existing markers. At least as long as no one else has climbed your boulder ;)

Mutual exchange with the community:
- If you connect with other climbers by subscribing to them, you can see in your news what they did. In addition, you will see in your personal news e.g. if one of your boulders has been climbed or commented on.
- Of course, you decide on your own, if others can subscribe to you and if your profile is completely visible to others. In your profile settings you can choose if your profile is private or public. You can change this at any time.
- You get points for all your actions. For example, if you have climbed a boulder and added it to your ticklist, but also if one of your boulders has been rated well by someone else.
- Send and receive private messages.

I love this app. Cheap price and allows you to create routes/projects on whichever wall you're looking at! Indoors or Outdoors! I find myself using this more than relying on "if a wall is on Stokt" Allows for start and finish holds, numbering sequence of moves, information boxes on each hold/move or the whole climb, and much more to really give it an informative approach to a project. Very responsive developer, also. So thankyou for that.

Great app for setting problems on our home wall! Better than several others. Interface is easy to use, and it's great to be able to be very specific about holds (especially for a home wall). Thanks for making it! A few suggestions: 1) I don't see a way to sort problems by grade or search for a range of grades. I only see a way to search for a specific grade. This would be a nice feature. 2) as another user suggested, an offline mode would be amazing. When WiFi is bad the app struggles.

I like this, it's easy to use, but another vote for an offline mode or even a batch update feature. The fact that it needs to be connected all of the time and it constantly sends information even when defining a hold on a route essentially makes it unusable in my limited connectivity garage. I wanted this to be what I was looking for, but it's not usable for me in its current build. Cool concept, but I really suggest making some accommodations for users with bad or no connections.

Pretty nice, some extra suggested features: Make it easy to reuse a photo! I should be able to reuse a photo already on the app, if seeing a route for the same boulder, this should definitely be possible. A free version where you can only (say) access one wall. I have a home build, I'm considering using this for logging all my problems. But it's not reasonable for me to ask all my friends to pay, so I'm considering something else. But this app is so close to perfect :)

I have been using this app for a few months now, and compared to other apps, this is so much easier to use. The ability to designate holds between left/right, hand/foot is a great feature. My only complaint is the lack of offline capability. Suggestion: be able to download problems from favorite boulders section. Thank you.

Just got it! It would be helpful, if looking at a gyms boulder list, to see some indication of which boulders I have ticked already and even sort by that. Maybe the name could change color or something once I have climbed it? I had Open Climb, but after a while it becomes a blur of what has been climbed and what hasn't. This is much better than that I think, but I'd still like to be able to sort if that's any easy fix?

Love the app! Template pics are awesome! It would be cool to see some more info about the route upfront (number of moves or holds, maybe even a rendering of the holdlayout), currently the most dominant info is the creatorname?!? And it would rock to have gps coord for a location, so spots can be shown on a map or 'near-me'. And some more meta-data about the route would also be helpful: dominant hold types, dyno / static / power, ...

Just installed the app and I'm already loving it! I have a tiny woodie in my cellar with tons of projects that can never remember, especially the circuits. I've tried everything but so far all the methods have been too time consuming. Boulder Challenge is a life saver. Thank you!

The app seems to work really well in general although it's a little confusing on my home board which uses 'screw ons for feet' rules which is common on system boards. Could we have a simplified marker for just right and left hand with no indicator for feet? This would be easier to read where feet aren't defined.

Love this app! Really simple to use and you can get others to set boulders for you (there is a Facebook and Instagram group). I really enjoy setting boulders for other and climbing my own routes and ones that others have set for me on my home wall, it makes home training much more fun! Using the app for me is much better than just going and climbing on my home wall with no real plan so thanks for making this app 😊

Great app with great updates. Allows collecting and sharing of problems by others who use the wall with intuitive controls and interface. Excited to see what other updates will come.
