Boveda

The app doesn't sync with the sensor, missing data from reports, no alerts, and the app mostly freezes or crashes. This could be so much better but the app support is lagging way behind. Update: As of 22 March, the sensor just stopped working. The app cannot connect, data is not transferring and nothing is happening. Update: As of 13 May, the app is finally working and no issues.

Sorry to update my review but I can't post a new one. Either way, for over a month the android app has not allowed any of the sensor data to be recorded. All the sensors connect (all can blink) but no data is ever recorded. I thought it was a problem with my sensors but I tried on my work iPhone and everything is perfect. It will connect and record the data for as long as I keep checking with the iPhone. Once again, seems the ball has been dropped for Android.

Since the last update it works again! Before I couldn't reconnect the device to my phone no matter what I've tried. It works!!! Haven't found any flaws for now, so fingers crossed. I'm debating to disable auto updates, because I don't want to have any more issues with it. Update November 1st 2019 Stopped syncing for no reason. Can't reconnect it at all.

I actually was looking forward for this product to come out and ordered it without second thoughts. I have it more than 1 year. The main problem that I have is that the battery drains out in a month even if I don't use it at all. Also the connectivity is a major issue it disconnects all the time and I have to restart it. Don't recommend.*** I have an update. ***After 2 years of draining 1 battery per month and not working properly today it stoped working. No blinking,no synch very disappoint

The app looks nice but the sensors stop sending data after a few months. They show full battery and connected via Bluetooth, but won't display temperature or humidity data. They also do not push the alerts like they say they will. This has happened to two different sensors. Don't bother with this app and device. They still don't have the bugs worked out and if you are relying on low humidity alerts you might find out too late they are not working.

I love the concept of the Butler & when they work, they are very good. Unfortunately, I have to highlight the 'when they work'. They are at best hit and miss as to when they want to work. Boveda as a company are great & their support is brilliant, but this product, including the app, needs to be taken back to the beginning & tested more thoroughly before being put out in a live environment. I would rather pay more & have a reliable/better product.

Excellent app. Sometimes gets stuck on the load screen (can be resolved by opening it through the lock screen notification instead) and sometimes 'loses' data (some 7-8 hours worth) even though it's been connected, but for 9 out of 10 times it works perfectly. If the aforementioned issues were resolved - it would be 5 stars. Speaking of the lock screen notification, I'd much rather see a real-time humidity/temp reading than "Keeping an eye on your valuables" since the app is running anyway.

The whole sensor and app have been a fruitless, useless combination for me. The app and sensor refuse to calibrate. Absolute waste of money and time. Really disappointed by the whole experience. Got no where with the help service either. Very frustrated, no more boveda sensor for me. The bags on the other hand are excellent but the sensor and app combo are an expensive waste of money in my experience.

Worked for 4 days and then for some unknown reason my Butler disconnected from my phone. Now I have no clue how to reconnect it. ALSO, clicking on the history tabs is a waste of time seeing that it never loads. I'm a big boveda fan, but they may be out of their league with this app. ***Update*** 1 month later and the butler is working like a champ!!! For some reason it just started working after a few days of not working. 👍👍👍

The sensor is a great idea, but has never worked right. I have talked to customer service and was led to believe that I didn't do the calibration corrected. This was not the case. The app is buggy and refuses to connect, doesn't update when it does connect, complains about denied permissions (why does it need camera access?) And flat out doesn't work. I have been fighting with this since it was released, and at this point I decided that it just isn't worth the effort.

Rubbish app, great humidity. If only they could make an app that matched the quality of their humidity packs. The app takes forever to open and connect and it is pot luck if it will update properly, it loses the history every few weeks and I have changed the battery several times in the past few months. Do not waste your money on this sensor and app.

I've had the sensor for about a year. I tried calibrating it through the app but the sensor was more that 5% off so it would not calibrate. Instead I did a manual calibration and everything seemed ok. Over the last year I've had multiple issues with communicating with then sensor. I usually have to turn the bluetooth on and off to connect to the sensor. This is with a Galaxy Note 8 and a 7" Samsung tablet. After deleting the sensor I am no longer able to connect to it after removing the battery

Absurdly slow to show historical data... I mean that I have to force-quit the app if I accidentally click History button. This happens with 3 different phone models (one right after factory reset), and happens regardless of wifi or LTE connection. Also please let the user know that you can't save a profile without a picture! I wasted an hour of trial-and-error to simply save my first profile!

So far so good. I manually calibrated with a known good hygrometer and have had no issues at all. Connectivity is good - and after 1 month the battery hasn't dropped off at all. Now have 3 looking after my sticks 👍🏼 09/07 Had a heavy battery drain issue. Boveda's customer service really helped. It turned out that my phone had an issue and needed a factory reset, and now uses little to no battery at all... All working perfectly!

I havent had any issues with the app itself. The setup was straight forward an very easy. I just don't like that there is the permanent notification: "Keeping an eye on your valuables". It's very annoying in my opinion. Edit: I was able to get rid of it by disabling it in android notification settings

Easy Peasy. The whole system makes keeping your humidor perfect a mindless endeavor. I used to have to refill reservoirs every 2 weeks. Now I just wait for the app to tell me when it needs a refill and I order a new packet. It gives me alerts for temp, humidity, and impacts. It couldn't be any easier unless they came and replaced the packs or the batteries for me. Would recommend to everyone and have recommended to multiple people already. Well worth the money.

Worked great until one day it just stopped updating the history. Reached out to technical support, who told me to uninstall and reinstall the app, unpair and repair the sensors, all to no avail. This is a very expensive alternative to a digital hygrometer and it works less well. Edit: Went around and around with tech support, keep getting canned answers of check this and check that. I don't even think they know the problem. Uninstalled the app for the last time, giving away the hygrometers.

This product usually didn't work. I cant tell you how often I had to remove and reset the battery and resync it with my phone. And then do it again because it wouldn't update the humidity or temperature, or blink when requested. Boveda told me to contact the app developer, but the contact option in the app wouldn't load. Not worth the headache, butler is in the garbage and app uninstalled.

My issues are the same as many of those mentioned by others. The device fails to update for days at a time, log updates lag excessively and there are large swaths of days and times where the device does not push updates for the temperature or humidity levels to the phone. We keep getting told that an update to address these issues is coming, but months after being told that its "weeks away" we still dont have an update. I love the idea of the product and I continue to hold out hope that Boveda is able to address these product issue soon.

First and foremost, Boveda has FANTASTIC tech/customer support. While most companies have used the COVID situation as an excuse for offering piss-poor support to their customers, the Boveda support team has provided me with almost instantaneous personal tech support which I appreciate above all else! The product is fantastic and the app works well (aside from calibration issues which tech support resolved for me right away). My only suggestion would be for future Boveda Butler devices to connect via wifi instead of bluetooth so the data could be available from anywhere without the use of a second local wifi/app enabled device. Otherwise, this is a great product that does exactly what it claims to!
