The workouts are great. There is a six week challenge, but really it goes up to 12 weeks. I gave it 4 stars because there is a major negative with this app. Definitely do not expect to connect to Google Fit like it advertises!!! I have been trying to connect for over a month with no success. Other than that, the exercises are challenging. There are demonstration videos, but you have to watch them before starting the workout. I recommend this app!!
It's barely OK, with several flaws. UI is clunky, cant go back to certain workout and progress don't get save midpoint. So, if the app closes during workout, you have to manually remember and add the reps and weights again. "App does the thinking for you". Certainly Not because it does not select the weights for you at all. Also, some of the video workouts are still wrong and have not been updated as per previous comments.
This app is great to jump right into premade workout or create my own. I made a classic 5x5 workout and 5x10. I just wish they added a few features. Sharing and backing up workouts. A cast button to be able to follow your workout on your tv, over just on your phone. They also need to fix the ability to connect to Google Fit app. This function no longer works.
It's useful, but has so many annoyances. If you have your Bluetooth off, it asks you to reconnect every exercise. If you are looking at an exercise video and leave the view, it goes to the top of the list rather than where you were. Things like that make it tough to use. Please fix these: your app could be much better!
Negative⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The SelectTech 560's adjustable dumbbells are awesome. The Bowflex SelectTech app is just plain terrible. Inconsistent weights recorded in the journal. Frequently skips exercise sets. Unstable Bluetooth connection. Customer service is quite helpful and willing to find a solution but issues still persist. It's better to use the SelectTech 560's apart from the app and with your own properly structured program.
Great workout. So so app. This app needs the ability to edit records and workouts. it always defaults to the previous weight used. so if you go from using a 35# weight to 25# you can't go back and change the weight once it is recorded. this app needs the ability to edit and delete work outs, weights used, and records. I would give it 5 stars if it had edit and delete options.
This is the app I've been looking for! I have the SelectTech 1090s and the bench from Bowflex but neither are required to use this app. You could easily have your own bench and regular dumbbells and use it. It's clean and simple. The video demonstrations are great and the ability to pause, stop, or skip through exercises in the 6 week plan is fantastic. Great job, Bowflex!
I want to like the app as it has a lot if good features, but to ask to turn on bluetooth between every set and then blame Google is ridiculous. Not being able to save workout so can go back is weak as well. The workouts and ease of saving set details are great though. EDIT: I am told cannot have app without Bluetooth because Google requires bluetooth? Seems odd. How about a non-bluetooth enabled fork or execute mode? The app seems to work fine without connectivity as I keep denying bluetooth...
The app itself is very useful but it looks to be completely abandoned by the developers. The last update took place in 2018. Google Fit sync is completely broken and Bowflex replied to my email that at this point they have no plans of fixing it or maintaining their app. Too bad, the app has so much potential.
It's ok but not great. During your rest periods if you go to different apps or answer text messages while texting it stops the count down on your rest till you open the app back up then it resumes time at the point where you left. About 1/3 of the time i go into another app if i don't come back fairly quickly it actually ends the whole workout.
Edit*** Re downloaded the app today(Sept.11) and it still ended up crashing. I'd say it's ironic... but the app still does not work on the Galaxy s10+.. Too soon? Lol Ok app. Isn't a very "flow" app. Cant switch music or quickly jump to a text without the app stopping time and restarting once opened. Also.. keeps crashing when wanting to start new 6week program. Now its unusable.
The app is quite well done, motivating, easy to follow, and I Iook forward to adding more stars. I have some impressions to share: - The 60 Day Challenge is challenging and fun (I can't wait to see what happens) - The athletes are easy to follow and the pace is fully reasonable - The Journal and Achievements are great features (thanks!) ××-Now what's bugging me-×× The "Share" feature from the Journal doesn't work at all, nor does it work from the Workout Details section. PLEASE FIX THIS
Garbage App, constantly errors out so you lose entire sessions. No way to go back in reps so you can reset and try to get the app to work on a rep it failed on. No way to edit a session after the app crashes and input the weight and reps you did. The UI constantly gets messed up and gets stuck in telling you to hold still, counting down, and counting reps. No way to view the pose and motion of a set of reps while you are resting, so you better have memorized them before you started.
Before this app will do any workout, it requires permission to your media and storage for purposes of "sharing photos". I'm an android developer and this is very suspect. They could always ask for permissions when doing the actual sharing. Obviously, these permissions are not required for showing you workout directions. I refuse to grant complete control over my device to this app, so I've uninstalled.
This app is cool overall, but needs some fixes. 1. Workouts are not shareable which should be an important feature if for nothing more than to promote the brand. 2. Dont ask me about bluetooth when you know I'm using a non bluetooth compatible weight set (i.e. 552) it's annoying when I'm asked each time 3. Doesn't always sync correctly with google fit which is also annoying. I would think someone would jump right on this.....I'll change my review accordingly when an update arrives...
i really like the app andnit has a variety of workouts i can use. i have the 560 selecttech dumbbells. the app does not recognize when i adjust the weight on the dumbbells. it always reads 5 pounds for every set. there is no way to manually edit. this app needs updated badly. few issues with the app not recognizing some reps and skips exercise, again no way to edit. also should be able to adjust the workout to higher reps if wanted. any support to get the dumbbell weight to record accurately?
3/2020*** Update...It seems as though the Nautilus bowflex team gave up on this app. It hasn't been updated for almost 2 years. You should consider using a different app.*** Very good workout app. I have the 1090 dumbbells and the workouts are challenging and there are enough to keep you getting gains. I gave it 4 stars because the exercises where you have to do both sides is only for one side. Ex, curls or dumbbell rows.
Nightmare of an app that makes working out pure and utter hell due to what I guess to be constant Bluetooth connectivity issues. Having to stop what you're doing to put down the weights so you can go to the app to tell it to "retry" connecting is both dangerous and rage inducing. If there were an option to use the app without connecting it to the dumbbells, then it would certainly get a few stars because there's lots of decent content there. Nope. I hate this app, never in my life has an app pissed me off so much.
This app is great to assist with the workouts. Shows easy to follow videos. Unfortunately the app doesnt sync with google fit. Kinda tough to calculate calories burned and consumed in a day. Contacted support on this matter, they take 3 weeks to reply to wait for updates, which never updates. They did not have a solution for my problem.
The app is ok, not good or bad at the basic workouts. It is horrible at connectivity. I cannot sync with my google fit account. I had no problem downloading the Results App and syncing that up. The fault lies solely within the Selecttech App itself. I have 552 and 1090 weights and they work great, but I can only select 1for workouts. If I select 552, 52.5 pounds is my max weight. If I select 1090 I cannot input 17.5 pounds, only 5 pound increments needs updating badly
One major annoyance is the app keep asking me to turn on Bluetooth after each and every exercise. The app also lack the functionality of playing an example of the exercises before it starts, you'll have to start it and see how the exercise is performed.
App works well, but cannot sync to Google Fit, all other apps work except SelectTech. Damn shame for an otherwise good app, but not being able to sync is a deal breaker. Last update was May of 2018, seems as if Bowflex is trying to manage to many apps and testing is an afterthought.
- Can't connect to Google Fit (says there's no internet) - The Share option does not work - When switching tabs i.e. (Journal, Exercises, workouts) sometimes it doesn't actually change and stays on landing page. Workout routines and 6 week challenge is great though!
Has a lot of great exercises to choose from. But does not work well to create a custom plan. Missing basic exercises like situp, crunch, etc as well as about half exercises in 552 manual are not selections. There is no option for manual entry. Good for learning a few good exercises, but not good for custom plan.
I love the idea of this app and the exercises, but this is the glitchiest app I've ever seen. It crashes at least 3 or 4 times every time I use it and then I have to fast forward over and over again to get back to where it stopped. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times to no avail.
Good for exercises. Bad for explanations and user interface. In between workouts you are unable to preview the next one and the descriptions of workouts do not match the videos that are available. For example one will say lift your feet off the ground but the person has your feet firmly on the ground as they are doing the core exercises. This app has a lot of potential but is clearly not being utilized fully by the developers/business
