Don't like the new update. 😒 it was fine the way it was with flipping cards now it displays it in single scroll down view. The only thing that would have made earlier versions better is the option to change text styles and colors.
New app update slowed down the app. Hardly use it anymore since its it takes so much more time to go through the cards. Its "flash" cards I need not wait for the app to load... I used to study 10cards a minute now its more like 6.
I never thought obtaining information and learning so much could ever be done in one place such as in this app. I am very grateful! I find it very easy to learn more Spanish, which was my goal and also my mathematical skills! Muchísimas gracias!
This app is excellent... its easy to use and customise. Why its free is beyond me - it deserves to be a paid app. Simple yet highly effective. Highly recommend it to anyone studying who wants to use a proven, effective way to memory retention using a recall strategy.
I have to do this for school and honestly it's great! Really well made and helpful app. The only issue is that it can be a bit slow... But apart from that, it's great! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Brilliant study aid. Such a help. Questions, repetition options, accuracy of questions, format- its all first class.
I'm studying for the CMS diploma and think the flash cards, study streaks and approach to get us through such material is fantastic!
The apps great. I just have two issues. 1.) The images don't show on the app but they do on the website. So studying on the go is challenging which is frustrating. 2.) The mobile app doesn't sync with the website. They're completely off. Besides that it's great. I'm passing my exams with flying colors.
Easy to use and you can copy and paste information as needed. Helps to cut down on time and tedious work.
I love this flashcard app. It is missing a few features I'd like to see. But what it does it does, it does very well. Give it a try.
useful and easy to use. the only issue I keep running in to is that I'm often trying to edit and add more cards but instead it goes to study mode. I think it would be nice to have a toggle that allows us to default to edit or study, so that when we click the deck it goes to what we need, instead of having to go in to the deck settings every time to edit.
Awesome app to learn and study. I personally use it for the certification of the WSET diploma, and so far i find the courses provided pretty helpful.
The website is really great, but the app not so good. It is a lot better to access it through the website with your mobile, as there are many more features there. It is easy to create a shortcut to your home screen if you are using chrome. I miss some flexibility in regards to changing the order of the classes and decks through the mobile. Also, It would be very useful if you could set a number of cards (e.g 40) to train each day, choosing from a few decks, and the app reminded you to do it.
The Brainscape website is amazing and the confidence grading system is especially useful. Suggestions for App: (1) Implementing a separate mode where you can scroll through all the cards to see both questions & answers at the same time (i.e. the equivalent of "preview cards" mode on website). (2) Being able to swipe cards to flip them (versus having to press the arrow) - minor change but I think it would make a real difference in terms of ease-of-use. Thanks!:)
Does not facilitate spaced repetition despite specifically saying it does. You have to work out when you think it has been an appropriately interval to review a deck, the app then will be more likely to show you cards you ranked as not being good at, but still shows all the ones you are confident at as well. The app also doesn't have the option to do a limited number of cards- you just keep going until you get sick of it and give up - not good for motivation. Customer service is good.
The app helped me memorizing, but it has several errors in the answers and plenty of typos. I contacted the owner with regards to the errors but I did not hear back. The app is helpful if you have the Oncology Nutrition book and can check the answers for accuracy, since all the questions are from the book. I would have liked to be able to make a note to myself on the flashcards noting the correct answers but there is no option to make notes.
The functionality is good up to a point. I like the system of showing you cards you aren't as good with, and of letting you rate your callback of each one 1-5. However, you cannot study cards in reverse. Supposedly this is possible with a pro subscription ($10/mo...) but I just upgraded and still don't have this improved functionality. This app wasted my money and my time, as I now have to figure out a new flashcard app that actually works as it says and re-upload all of my terms/definitions.
Do not use this if you want to do actual spaced repetition. What it does is repetition of flash cards. But for me the "spaced" is the important part. They're also good at locking away features to get you to pay (which I did), for example to share my decks. But turns out my "students" also have to pay, and they most likely won't. So that was a waste of money.
I've been using Ankidroid and Memrise, which are easy. I loaded a deck here and found it almost entirely locked, only very remedial content available, and then I can't figure out how to remove it. After adding 4 decks and finding them all too remedial (i.e. the content I can preview) I have a cluttered screen of content I don't want and can't remove. I tried everything I could think of: long press, menu key (only has Share), etc. no way to remove a deck I don't want. Not intuitive at all.
I love this app. I've always struggled with hand written flashcards, always wanting to edit and rewrite which wastes a lot of time. I also forget to carry them with me at all times. This app allows me to study as little or as much as I have time for. I can optimise my ten minute train commute in the morning and evening without having to rake through my bag looking for notes. It's all right here on my phone! Missing one star due to not being able to specify a colour of cards to study
The PC version is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I like the Android app but it doesn't have the ability to view tbe cards with answers simultaneously which does exist in the PC app. That feature is really useful for studying new terms for the first time. If you can fix this issue, I'll change my review to 5 stars.
Very user friendly, great library of decks. It would be great if it was more similar to Ankidroid in the following ways 1. easily edit and delete active card 2. more options of how to perform spaced repetition learning (as it is now the Anki system is much better for cards that you have mastered but want to practice again in a few months for long-term recollection)
If you can run Anki (a free open source flashcard app) and you like to create your own cards for private use then there is no reason to pay for Brainscape. The user interface and navigation is clunky. You have very few options when designing your own cards. I think they made an effort to streamline all cards to make it easier for users to share decks with other users and this severly limits your options when designing cards. A few examples: images can't be pasted into the text field of a card, they have to be attached. Also you can't just create a deck, you have to make up a "class" that the deck should belong to. Another issue is there is no spaced repetition system at all! If you rate a card a level 4 it stays level 4forever?! Then what's the point? I could just type a list of questions in a word document and review them.. It would be the same thing! On the Brainscape blog it says they use a "5-bucked (sic) Confidence-Based Repetition method; works at your own study pace" huh? I thought I was paying you to decide my study pace, so I got to review things BEFORE I forget them..
They should get zero stars. If you even by a mistake switch once to advanced editing mode, you will never be allowed to switch back to normal editing mode, and since advanced mode is only available in paid version, they basicly lock you to paying monthly subscription forever. Very bad business practice, but since there isn't that much competition they feel like they can do whatever they want. Their customer service is quite shameless too.
The app gives you what it promises: an easy, practical and simple way to create and study flashcards. The pro option comes with the possibility to download some specific decks from the market - but be careful about that. Some are user made and may contains incorrect statements. The ones made by companies, however, are not always correct also. So, my recommendation is: make your own flash cards. That will help you study and be sure about the statements. The app, again, is awesome. Go for it!
The point of flashcards is memorization and this app was designed around that goal. I've been using this for more than half a year and it's made language learning a lot easier and fun. Also, over the last few months you can tell the developers made everything more visually pleasant. I've had no trouble making note cards from a Latin dictionary, in short this is my favorite app for learning.
