As many others say here, the UI is in desperate need of updating, especially for the price. The bidding and play are better than other bridge apps I've tried and so am sticking with it. But one suspects the original developers have left the building, and the owners are just sitting back and taking the money. Great Games, if I'm wrong, please let us know.
I don't like this app at all. I had an old app entitled "Bridge Baron" that allowed the user to play each hand regardless of who got the bid. In other words, even if you were South and West & East got the bid, you could choose to play it. It gave you the opportunity to see how others bid plus you were always playing the winning bid.
I used to make most of my contracts, and the app would quite often fail to make its contracts - the card play is pretty mediocre. But all that changed a few months ago, it was obvious the day it happened, that the hands started to be rigged - finesses nearly always unfavourable, freak distributions on just about every deal etc - so now I hardly make any. Perhaps they think it makes the card play look better than it actually is?
I installed this game on my Samsung S2 Pad, running Android. When I opened the app, the game appeared and asked me to bid. I could find no way to ask what biding conventions were being used, so the game is essentially useless to me. Also, the Windows version has games from real tournaments, whereas this version seems to only have random deals (which you can filter to produce, for example, only hands with HCPs). I'm trying to figure out how to get my money back.
Wrote a critical review when my new Android 11 phone wouldn't show the menu. Great Games has replied to an email saying they're working on a new Android version. Liked it for 9 years before this.
I am using a tablet. During installation I was not given a choice for tablet or wide screen and you provided wide screen. It is awful on a tablet. If I could I would return this version. I certainly won't recommend it.
I downloaded this many years ago on my old ipad which was great and used it often. Very disappointed with this version you can't get any conventions not even stayman I would not recommend.
Love the appt.but just recently, the bridge baron apt does not showing my tablet and name and pass word does not show up on game. Can someone help I haven't been able to play. PLEASE.
No vulnerability shown. Some over ambitious bids. More popular conventions needed. Otherwise a very good learning app.
I had problems with BB when I had LG Android mobile. Now I've Samsung galaxy 10 lite, and same bidding menu problems persists. Does any one know how to skip/interpret bidding in d mobile BB app? Alas !!
its an nice app for beginner and intermediary player to learn the rule. the ai is way below the performance of their comp software
The customer service is pathetic. I think the developers are not paid enough to make the necessary changes. So all complaints fall in deaf ears only.
Haven't been able to use App for weeks Blank Screen. It's great when you can use it.
Lazy developer has not provided any update in years to fix issues.
works well but android version hangs when suspended
Good!!! Except I had to uninstall it and now it wants me to pay again...what's up!
A solid implementation of Bridge!
android as per other users and me is not working correctly.
Have this app installed on my old samsung tablet but trying to put on to my new tablet but it won't let me? any advice?
On my samsung tablet the Create account function does not work.
Doesnt work on android
Excellent game. Usually beats me.
please do not charge me since you keep refusing my password
Using a Samsung S20 this once great app is now a lesser beast. Modern phones have no fixed 'Menu' button so now the menu is unavailable during bidding. Shame, as the 'Interpret' command was v useful for learning. Surely the programmers could add a new menu button. This could be the best bridge learning app in town if only it added a conventions list with some explanations and sorted itself out properly. Ah well.
I have played Bridge Baron on multiple platforms for many years. The Android app is extremely disappointing. It is literally years behind the iOS version in terms of functionality and features. For example, the ability to set game options is severely limited and you cannot rotate the board when you are playing a hand to be at the bottom of the screen. Very awkward to play the dummy from the bottom. Look at the bottom of the Settings screen and it says the copyright is 2011. Enough said. Very disappointing. Cannot recommend until it is thoroughly updated.
I have to agree with recent reviewers after checking on the newest iteration of the app. It seems to play decently enough but on my Fusion5 tablet the cards look cut off and there are no control options. At least I can still exit using the Android back button. Too bad, considering the price. Will try another one and hope this one eventually gets fixed.
reducing to 1 star from 3 stars, no changes have been made to the defective android version, my last review was months ago. I note you have been working on a new version. I might point out that the android market share is increasing at the expense of Ios
This game do not work properly on Samsung S6 Edge Plus. The top of cards it is cuted off when you will play. This make it unplayable. 9.12.2017 An update review. After more than half year I have the same problem on other tel, LG G6. They make a few updates but the cutted card problem it is still unresolved. I do not recommand to buy this game. Also the program give incorrected quick score decision. Google Play please take a stand and resolve that issue. Bad programs should be take it out. It is unexceptable to pay around of 20$ and not to be capable to play even one hand of bridge.
Have played Bridge Baron for many years on Windows, iPad, Android and Amazon fire(a version of the Android game). Quality of bridge play is generally good but the Android user interface is SERIOUSLY LACKING. Screen management is poor and it's easy to get to places where there is no button to proceed with a game - forcing you to end the game. Online play is even more flakey. Save your money. The Android version is not worth it. IPad version is good.
