Bridge TD - rules of the game

Bridge TD is an application to help Bridge players resolve the most common problems which arise at the bridge table. A series of quick Yes/No questions presented on your smartphone or tablet computer rapidly results in an explanation of the remedy (if any) and any action to take. The current release is based on the World Bridge Federation (WBF) Laws of Duplicate Bridge 2017.

The WBF 2017 Laws come into force from October 1st 2017 at the latest. Significant changes have been made to "Call out of turn" and "Insufficient bid".

Bridge TD covers the cases of Exposed Card, Revoke, Insufficient Bid, Call out of turn, Lead out of turn, and Penalty Card.

Bridge TD will be useful for:

- Players playing without a Director who may now have a quick resolution of many problems which arise at the table;

-Club Directors who would like a quick way of resolving problems when called, rather than having to look at the detail of the Laws themselves;

-Directors in training who wish to learn and rehearse different “book rulings”

Bridge TD does not aim to encompass the whole of the WBF laws which are necessarily exhaustive. Bridge TD covers the most frequent problems, ignoring second order effects such as multiple offences. The display in Bridge TD, however, references the appropriate WBF Law and section, so if there is a dispute or the situation is not completely covered, the full Laws can be quickly consulted.

Bridge TD is produced with the permission of the World Bridge Federation, but is not in any way connected with the WBF or endorsed by them.

IB logic is wrong as doesn't remind you 'mechanical error' takes precedence. Useful for the 5 book ruling cases in its menu (exposed card/penalty card are very closely related) but no help with anything else. No help with judgement rulings.

I like it. I do refer to the yellow book, but this is a helpful aide memoir to browse when at home.

A ludicrously expensive app which contains almost nothing. What's in it can be written on a postcard. More detail needed. Eg lead of turn followed by a revoke. Which do you correct first? Also scoring. ..when to give an average score. Looks like a good beginning. I've kept it only hoping that the developer will bring it up to a much better level.

Ideal app for someone who directs at club events. The main problems are covered eg revokes, bids out of turn, playing out of turn etc. and options are clearly shown.

Looks like a good way of sorting out problems at the table
