Well, I get into the app alright, but then when I click on the show I want it just goes back to my "watchlist screen", which is where I picked my show from. So, thought I would go in through the "New" page and the same thing happens. Other than that(frustrating) I Love this app. Never had problems before, just started about a week or two ago. I look so forward to this problem being fixed. Have a great day!
I love the site and its content, but the app itself is unusable. I was able to watch one episode when I first installed the app, but after that I have not been able to view a single episode (leading to me missing out on the free trial btw). The episodes seems to be loading for a long time and then show an error message. I am also having trouble just opening the app and often have to do so through google play. Also, the homescreen remains empty and it doesn't track which episodes I have watched.
I am really disappointed!!! Firstly, signing in is a nightmare. Downloading the app is equally horrible. I signed up for 7 day free trial, because of all the issues I had, I emailed support to have it cancelled. They send me a default password, I tried again to login to cancel the subscription, but still I could not. Subsequently, the full year subscription was deducted from my account, for something I can not even bloody use!!!!
The app freezes after each episode requiring a restart in most instances. This is also a power hungry app, quickly draining the battery, even if you only have the menu screen on display, currently plugged in to the power supply, just watched an episode of a show and the battery is less than when I started watching.
Doesn't work well despite coming from BBC & ITV. Closed Captioning (subtitles) have to be switched on start of every program and they constantly so pathetically incorrect. Worst I have seen by far. Notification bar does not allow rewind..ie 10 seconds like all other streaming services. Cannot auto play next episode & have to use Chromecast app to control. This app lacks a settings function that that others include. Cancelled. BBC have loads more content but where is it ???
Love BritBox as a service. The shows are fantastic. The app, however, is not. I could put up with the quirks, (like it restarting an episode rather than remembering where I left off, or not being able to get out of the app without turning my screen off and on) but for the past 4 days or so the app stopped opening entirely. It just acts like it's loading forever. I've tried reinstalling and the problem persists.
I love the content but new episodes are released VERY slowly. I have been getting D.I. P. spoilers for months. Maybe putting the US release dates in the show information would be nice. I think that a "picture in picture" feature for tablets and mobile devices would be great. I want to be able to minimize the screen and use other apps on my phone. I have other apps that offer this feature (Prime, Netflix, Paramount+). Again, I love the content, but I agree with other reviews that the app can be improved on.
So excited to see BB in the Nordics but unfortunately failed to live up to expectations. The app itself is pretty flawed but I would have struggled through that if the content was better. Most of the shows on here are pretty old and we've seen the ones we want on other platforms already. The two exclusives we watched in the trial (Crime and The Cleaner) were both excellent. I'll keep an eye on the programs and if new stuff is added I will try again. Great concept.
My review keeps disappearing. Terrible app, keeps making me sign in every day, and for the last two weeks it's just told me "content not available." Absolutely no help from so-called tech support. I paid a year's subscription for this? [EDIT] And now (below) I get a canned response saying "oh no, please contact us" -- which I already did. As an update, my smaller Fire TV works fine, as does my phone app, but my Firestick doesn't. A friend of mine has the exact same issue. Seems to be a problem with the Firestick, at least for us. Britbox knows this. I wish they'd own up and be honest.
I love the British programming, but this App is horrible!!! I'm getting tired of getting a black screen telling me I'm offline when I'm not! Very tired of uninstalling and installing the App just to temporarily fix the problem. And at times I don't even get the icon on my home screen, I have to go through Play Store in order to even open it to watch anything. The programming is worth 5 stars the App isn't worth one. Really wish you'd fix the bugs!
This is the worst streaming app I have ever used. Only a couple of days into the free trial, I have barely been able to get any episodes to play. App frequently returns an error or just hangs on 'loading'. The only way to fix it seems to be logging out and back in or rebooting the phone. I wouldn't use this service even if it were free.
Subscribed to the service via Google apps. But when I try watch something the app says I need to subscribe (which I have done). So I try subscribe again but it tells me I already have a subscription. So stuck in a loop. Support staff are completely useless. I have been back and forth even sending them screen captures of the error message I get when trying to subscribe. But they just keep askinge the same questions. They clearly don't understand that there is a technical issue. Sooooo annoying
So disappointed. I'm still on my free trial but was only able to watch one episode of one show before the app stopped working. Now every time I try to watch something I get an error message. I've tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling...nothing works. I was so excited to watch these shows too. Thanks for nothing Britbox.
I'd really love to be able to adjust to full screen on my Galaxy S10+ but still no option to do that. Netflix and Tubi seem to be the only apps that I've found that allow it. Also, please add an "episode info option" under titles in your "Continue Watching" section so I have the option to select what episode I want to continue watching from. Otherwise, a great app and great content for viewing. --- Edit: Thanks for the fast reply! Adding another star for that alone! 😊
If I could give it a zero rating I would. Downloaded the app and signed up for the free trial. Managed to watch one show before getting error 70:011 on every show I've tried to watch since then. I HAVE UNINSTALLED AND REINSTALLED THE APP!!cleared cache, tried various wifi sources and no change to the end result. Error 70:011 persists on every single show I tried to watch. I sent an email to the tech support 24 hours ago and have not had the courtesy of a reply. Subscription cancelled!
For the last 2 days I cannot get any show to load. My tablet is an auto rotate but the app seems to be having trouble figuring out which way the screen is aligned. What is happening? Three stars because it used to work perfectly. I restarted the tablet and it still doesn't work. This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite. But, however it does work on my Samsung phone. Update. I have tried reinstalling the app the app. I have tried clearing the cache and the data. Support is being responsive.
Started giving issues about a month ago. The app wouldn't load, I'd force stop/reinstall. This was almost every second day. Now the app loads, but won't play anything. Doesn't matter what I try to watch I get an error message that says "This content is not currently available". Both the app and mi stick have the latest updates. I've reinstalled again and restarted the mi stick. I've cleared the cache. I cannot think of what else to do. Should get a refund for the last month in all honesty.
Great content pity you can't watch it For the last 10 days BritBox TV app has been unusable. If it opens at all (without cache & memory clearing, rebooting, checking for updates etc) that's a miracle. Logging in (big pain on a remote) and selected what you want to watch, you press play and bang, Error no content available. No, dear Britbox it's not theAndroid TV box or my internet connection. All the other streaming apps work flawlessly so it's you. 10/5 update didn't fix anything
Functionality has gotten much better but they make it almost impossible to find CONTINUE WATCHING option. Why don't all streaming services make CONTINUE WATCHING option the default landing page when you log in? Why wouldn't you continue watching where you left off? All streaming services make this difficult but BritBox is by far the worst at it. IF this were fixed I'd give them a 3 star
Updated Review. Lowering to 1 star. 6 months in and it's one technical issue after the next. I have 2 identical Mi-Box devices. One works perfectly. The other gets a "this content is not currently available" error. I have mailed the support team who were unable to resolve the issue and passed the case over to the technical support team who have not responded or resolved the issue.
I cancelled the subscription. Got it on 5.14.22 and have not been able to watch anything since I was charged. When I had the free trial I could watch everything. I just would prefer not to pay for something I can't even use so I guess technical support couldn't figure it out it's been a week back and forth.
[update 4 May 2022] I can no longer login from my tv. Works fine on my phone. I will be cancelling this subscription as I really don't want to waych stuff on my phone. [update]The latest app update has made no difference. [older]Having to login *every* *single* *time* I use the app is unbelievably frustrating, especially having to do it with a remote.
Love the content, but the app and support are appalling. After a good free trial month, suddenly now no shows will open, even episodes I have watched before. I reported the problem to Support, and over a week later they are still telling me to be patient. Not good enough, Britbox, my patience has run out. I have canceled my subscription, hopefully Britbox will honour the cancelation.
I'm sorta on the fence about Britbox. I LOVE the programs (I'm watching to the exclusion of everything else in my life) but it frequently tells me I'm offline when I'm not, it frequently freezes and I have to 'back button' and then tap 'continue'. All that aside, I would recommend Britbox because of the programming and the two quibbles I have are not life shattering. I feature I would like to see is the ability to mark each program 'watched' or something so I wouldn't keep opening a program only to see that I've already watched it.
The programming is outstanding this is why I paid for the service. Unfortunate that the app is garbage, it frequently will not connect the little blue circle just spinning interminably. When it does connect, I have re-sign in. Every Single Time. If I go off for 5 minutes and come back on I have to sign back in.
The app is garbage! Don't subscribe. For the past few days I have been getting this message on ANYTHING I attempt to watch: "Something has gone wrong. Please try again. ERROR CODE: 70.011" I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I have restarted my phone. I have searched for any possible updates. And clicking the Help option is useless. I have emailed the development team. We'll see...
Content is good, app is not. Lately it is hit or miss if it will even load the homepage. When casting to a Chromecast it won't play the next episode. Some episodes have the option for English subtitles but they're absolutely not in English. All around weird user experience.
I am also having the same problem several other viewers are having with this app. When I tap the BritBox program I wish to watch it just bounces back to the home screen. This is a recent technical problem. I followed the help suggested but the problem was not corrected.
If the programming wasn't so very good, it would have canceled this subscription months ago. When I have the app open it will now allow me to use my curser to do anything--stop, start, move backwards or forwards for 10 seconds, or have access to the start next episode icon at the end of the video. What's worse, it also interfers with my curser in other apps.
I enjoy britbox, on my TV. Until 2-3 weeks ago, I enjoyed it on my phone, then suddenly, it stopped streaming. I've contacted customer service and they've tried to help, but the app is still crazy on the phone. Looks like they need to rework the upgrades made in April, because the current version is missing something. I'll keep checking for updated versions, but until then, I'm uninstalling the app from my phone.
