Great content, but horrible technical issues. When watching on my phone, it's incredibly glitchy, and trying to stream it from my Roku, it doesn't show you the full content library, and the videos will stop after about a minute and say "Error, Video not available" it's getting so glitchy that I haven't been able to watch a full show on it since August.
During the pandemic, I thought this would be a good thing. Content is ok, but dated. The Android support is terrible. The app works ok on your mobile device and on your computer. I have a Sony TV with Android TV. The app is not compatible with the TV. As noted in other reviews, there is no Chromecast support. Only way to view on the TV is if you use the Chrome browser new Cast feature then you can view on the TV. That works ok, but who wants to go to computer to start/stop the playback?
Completely unusable. I love the catalog, I love the price. But this app has worked exactly lne day. I got to watch a few things that day. But now it freezes a minut or so in any time I try to cast. Sometimes it freezes and the the sound plays over my phone whose screen is turned off. I don't know how well it plays over the app alone, because, believe it or not, I dont want to watch three hour stage productions on my phone.
Great app. I'm happy that the chromecast is now working and I am able to cast from my phone to my tv. I have watched several musicals and love them all. I would love to be able to download the app in the future, on xbox or playstation, as I only have chromecast on one tv. For now it works great. Make sure that if you have multiple wifi routers, that you connect your tv and device to the same wifi or it will not cast. It may be obvious to do that but it completely slipped my mind.
I have subscribed to BroadwayHD from the very beginning before there was an app and the streaming has improved immensely since then. To be fair, there is an occasional buffering issue from time to time but I can't be sure where that problem lies. One aspect I have found to be 10-star is the customer service. They have always responded quickly and fairly to my issues.
This app has potential to be huge, it need just a few adjustments. Should have the option to put subtitles to every show for accessibility and also for people who don't have English as the first language (like me, I understand but sometimes I miss a few words and subtitles helps to look out the meaning of the word), and would be very interesting if there were small clips/trailers of the shows in the app, and maybe the option to buy the shows separately.
Downloaded the app to stream content to my smart TV. However, I can't even log in... Always get "Something went wrong. Try again." or "Cannot connect to server. Check your internet connection." That's funny. None of my other streaming services have issues. And I get the same error when I'm on LTE and WiFi. Will definitely be canceling after the free trial. I don't want to watch all of these on just my laptop and it's not worth the Hassel of constantly hooking my laptop up to my TV.
Was really excited to finally have enough $ for a subscription. Just downloaded yesterday...Love the content. However it buffers so frequently its extremely disappointing and disruptive to the presentation. I have no issues with any of my other streaming apps. I'll give it a go for a while longer but if this issues continues I may have to just give up and cancel. 3hrs almost to watch something that's 2 isnt fair.
This app works great! I've noticed that a lot of negative reviews are based around Chromecast, Roku, etc. This app works perfectly on the phone. Also as far as content goes, this does have a lot of the classics, but new stuff is still being added. Personally, I do believe the monthly subscription is worth it.
The service is good, but the app is very bare-bones. It doesn't work with Chromecast, it doesn't even automatically play videos in fullscreen, and the listings don't include production year or casts, which creates confusion for shows that have had revivals. Is Miss Saigon the original production or the 2017 one? There's no way to check other than to start watching and see.
While the content is fabulous, I'm frustrated with the access. I have the option to watch on my phone or my smart TV, and the app doesn't allow casting from my phone to smart TV. I understand there are concerns with copyright and duplication, but it's frustrating. However, I am a paying member with monthly access, but I'm not sure how long I'll subscribe if it's only through my phone app.
What is going on? This is such a poorly rated app for offering something so amazing...I am so disappointed, especially at a critical time where it is being advertised to be used at home when people cannot go out. I am not able connect to my Chromecast from my Android device through the app. Really huge let down, maybe you should stop advertising your service if it's been an ongoing issue. Really big let down.
The selection of shows is good. However I can only seem to make this work on my desktop computer or tablet - the casting software does not work with the app. Want to get this on my tv. Just signed up and finding the chrome cast works for a short time then it starts to hesitate and get out of synch. have the latest software for sending and receiving. seems like it would have been a better idea to purchase thru amazon channel. Is there an app that will work on the fire stick besides purchasing thru the amazon channel? Can I transfer my direct subscription to amazon? Don't want to pay for two subscriptions. Is there a samsung tv app?
Broadway in Your Home. If you are expecting to watch brand new shows, you are not going to get them. That is because the goal of BroadwayHD is to bring you licensed and contracted shows. What you are wanting are bootlegs which are illegal. Content is added when they are able to secure the rights. Now, it would be nice to be able to signing to the app if you subscribed via Amazon prime, but that is not a deal breaker
I first used the week free trial to see if a purchase was worthwhile. I was blown away by the quality of what I was watching so I decided to continue with the purchase. I have no issues watching with the Firestick. Yes, not every Broadway feature ever made is available but I dont see that as a real issue as I am able to see plenty of features I've never seen before for a fair in home price. Looking forward to watching more!
Don't waste your time with a subscription unless you watch on your internet device. The mobile app has no native Chromecasting. Google chrome on a laptop with the casting addin, the video was poor quality and stuttered constantly, completely unwatchable. Other items watched via browser on TV are flawless. I didn't even bother to check and see if the internet devices displayed decent images and playback, I want to cast to my TV.
This app started ok. I was able to watch 1 show and then lost access to the service. I tried to log in for weeks and to no avail. I continued to get billed for a service I couldn't use and on top of that the bill increased! When I contacted the app they said they wouldn't refund me for something that was there fault. They switched services without giving any notice and just continued to take my money. This is a poorly managed company and I would not recommend its use.
The choices are very limited, but worse is the playback. Can't go more than a minute or two at the most without the video stalling out. So frustrating. Find a different venue to watch on. YouTube didn't have a single 'stutter' for anything I watched that was also offered by this horribly disappointing app.
Honestly video streaming apps that don't work with smart TVs or Chromecast are kind of pointless. No one wants to watch a nice quality production on their tiny phone screen. I wasn't even able to find an app on my smart TV which would have made sense. This was released in 2016 when Chromecast was around and last updated in June 2020 still no Chromecast seems odd is it that difficult to program? The content seems good but I am unable to watch on my Tv.
My sister bought me a year subscription and I was so excited at first. But since Christmas I've only really been able to properly catch 3 shows. It's been so difficult to get one of the 3 working; sound, subtitles, picture or simply not working at all through the chrome cast. It's been quite disappointing. It shouldn't be difficult but it is to make it work. I need help. There has to be a much easier way. Each time I want to watch I dread it as I spend so much time just troubleshooting
Started the free 7-day trial, using the most up-to-date software. Unable to watch anything on any device or using Chromecast. The trial is about to expire and I've been unable to watch anything. Super disappointing. Every other service and app I've got work without issue.
The app is unable to cast to a TV, or even work properly on my phone. I try to cast to my TV and the app suddenly can't work. This apps search bar of things it even has on it doesn't work. I think this is neat, but it needs another year before it is a proper streaming service for them to update their tech. I am cancelling my subscription until it isn't as buggy.
DOES NOT WORK!!! I downloaded the app last night, it worked fine, great even. Although I wish I could put transfer it to my tv. Anyways, I tried finishing Cats and it keeps kicking me off, stating connecting error. I am on a 4G network...I am using my data. I have tried switching to my home wifi, still states the same thing 😞 Disappointed!
Wish I could give this 0. I had it for two months and was never able to watch anything! It froze or just wouldn't load anything. I emailed back and forth with customer service and nothing was resolved. They said they were going to give me a free month credit but then charged me instead. I've asked for a refund but they've stopped replying to emails about 2 weeks ago. UPDATE: If you pay for this through the play store they are unable to give you a refund.
So disappointed. I have been looking forward to using this service. Casting through browser is a bit primitive, so I tried using the app. I have never had any casting issues with other apps (I have a Chromecast ultra and solid internet speeds), but this app buffered CONSTANTLY and plays were unwatchable. Not having Chromecast functionality built in better in the app or browser will sadly affect my future with this service.
If I could give this app ZERO STARS, I would! The bad reviews are warranted, and their official response is the same every time, yet NOTHING appears to have changed. The app does NOT stream with Chromecast, nor will the desktop site mirror correctly, nor can you even view in fill screen on a PC. It is 2019, so it is just insulting that they have such a truly garbage interface. Cancelled!
First it's very misleading. With most of the musicals, you don't see the show. You see a concert of the show. The music may be beautiful, but it's not the same. Second, do not forget your password. After a year and a half, it suddenly asked me to sign in. I entered what I thought was my password and it was wrong. The ap told me I entered the wrong info. Then it did something I have never seen before. It did nothing. It didn't give me the slightest hint how to fix the problem. There was a password reset button but that was useless because I had to have the old password to reset it. I had to root around to find a phone number and then the customer service waa underwhelming.
I've been waiting for a streaming service like this, but when it comes to functionality, it's horrible. It seems the only place I can watch it is on my phone. When trying to open the app on roku, casting to a TV, or on my computer, it glitches non-stop or straight up refuses to play. And for the premium price that you pay for this service, it's really frustrating to only be able to watch on your phone and not on a brand new TV.
