There are some issues, the lessons use material from other lessons that haven't been viewed yet. i. e, the 1st lesson of a level might be using words from the 5th lesson of the same level. The review system is lacking, I bought the subscription to set my own intervals and specific areas to review but I have yet to find the feature. So you have to go to each lesson and re-do them over and over. Its a good way to understand basic concepts but it won't help you retain information whatsoever.

It's a great grammar practice app (not so much for looking up stuff). It's nice and clean and the explanations good. What isn't good is that the quizzes almost all seem to have a few trick questions, and other than the answer, it doesn't explain/link to the other grammar point. Trick questions are great with a teacher who can instantly respond. No so much with a one-way app.

Overall, I feel this is a solid app for getting more comfortable with Japanese vocabulary and grammar. It would be a good supplement to either Japanese classes, or other forms of self-study. I do feel like it can be slightly buggy or slow at times, and I've noticed one or two minor errors, at least according to other sources that I've used, so I can't quite give it five stars. Still though, it's a great app for extra practice!

My biggest complaint regarding the app is that some lessons have the correct option as the final option throughout the entirety of the lesson, making it difficult for me to actually learn the material. Otherwise I'm enjoying the app quite a lot so far.

This app is a lot better at teaching grammar points than other apps in terms of quality. It covers JLPT 1-5 grammar and has some of the best descriptions I've seen that detail their usage. I do think the price was a bit of a drawback, but it's basically the equivalent of paying for four lessons on Italki, which honestly isn't too bad given how well the grammar lessons are succinctly articulated. Overall, I'd definitely recommend.

Nice explanations and attractive app missing some features that other apps have and has some bugs - e.g. option to play speaking clips slower, list of vocab and furigana is quite often missing (e.g. only shows up on half of the kanji in a sentence). It is so infuriating when the only thing making me get the question wrong is because I have to guess what the kanji is until I get it right. Please fix this ASAP ๐Ÿ™

It's a great repetition flashcard-like app for learning Japanese! I'm a beginner working on my hiragana, and it also allows you to "write" the words. I like the simplistic and minimalist-style of the app.

Miw. W. May 13, 2022

Maybe I'm missing something, but when you get something wrong on the review section, there is no reinforcement to remind you of the correct answer. It doesn't even verbalize the correct answer so you can hear it. Other than this, I like the app and it's nice aesthetics.

I am loving how they describe things to you. I can practice this at work when I can't have the sound on and still feel confident that I am learning how to pronounce thing properly. The only reason I haven't give 5 stars is because there's a bug where all the answers will be the bottom answer and I feel that takes away from my learning.

Just started, but the app helped me to learn hiragana quickly. It constantly tests you on what you have learned even in further lessons, which helps to internalize everything. Highly recommended.

I haven't had any issues with ads, and it requires you to get 100% on each test before moving on. This helps a lot with better understanding in my experience. One of the best apps I have on my phone and learning Japanese so far has been the easiest with this free app.

It is a good app to learn Japanese language. Good for beginner, they give you one free level and I think it's a worth to buy the app because you can get like many levels only in one app.

Second time I'm asked to rate this. Before was 4, now it's a 5, it's getting better. I've been using many Japanese learning apps, so far this is the best balanced (vocab, kanji, sentences, grammar, ..), and I really like the use of Japanese keyboard for quizzes as difficulty improves (instead of multiple choice selection). Plus, no annoying adds. Going to get the full version.

Incredibly well made. Easy to use and the explanations are fantastic and detailed, but not overwhelming. It contains everything you need on every level. I'm genuinely impressed. I strongly recommend it for beginners and those who just want to refresh their memory.

I am not a big read to reinforce kinda girl, but if you are, this is for you. Even though I typically to better with less reading, this way of learning seemed better for starters. It explains deaper into the language rather than just learning it. When it comes to a language/culture as ancient/up-to-date as the Japanese, I felt it only right.

Las. Apr 26, 2022

This is a really accessible, simple language app. Very clean design and useful presentation. I am starting right from the beginning despite some experience from other apps but I am hoping the more advanced levels will be as good as the basics are

I've tried many free Japanese learning platforms this is the second best out there. The best one is still in beta. Probably on the verge of getting sold to some huge company. I digress, Bunpo gives you the opportunity to learn from your failures in real-time. I love how you can go through the same learning structure as a Japanese child. It helps my ADHD brain get lessons done even with my busy schedule.

I'm really loving this app! I't would be great if there was an option to reduce playback speed somewhat (for when the app reads answers out loud). Or make it slower when played a second time.

Tol. T. May 22, 2022

Im very impressed with this app i went in with low expectation but wanted to try a new app. But in all honesty I've learned more from this app than the other more well know apps like Rosetta stone and doulingo. Im a slow learner and I like the fact this app doesn't say this is this i Japanese but also explains why and how to pronounce things correctly.

I've been studying Japanese in Japan and back home over the last 15 years. I've used many apps, books, classes etc. This app is one of the best for grammar and vocabulary. Over the years, you pick up grammar and words all across the spectrum. This app easily brings them all and divides them neatly. If I need to review my basics, I can do so easily. If I want to expand my grammar in a targeted area, the app tells you what you're getting. No more flipping around pages. Good for all levels!

great app so far, i havent encountered many problems yet. only a very minor bug in that the progress bar doesnt seem to move as much as it should when doing lessons. it consistently progresses as you complete the lesson, however it has not moved enough by the end of the lesson to fill be entire bar. once again only a very minor bug, but it was the only flaw i have found so far while learning. its a great app, and i hope it is able to teach me more complex japanese just as well as it is doing now

Luc. S. Apr 5, 2022

It gives you lessons, actual lessons, not just quizzez, and it goes at a very reasonable pace, you can practice amd learn endlessly as much as you want, you can redo things over and over to get a good grip

Sar. L. Feb 2, 2022

I really like this app a lot. It taught me how to speak a whole other language very easily. The review for me is probably the best part because I am a very forgetful person having a review there to help remind you what you've been taught is or beneficial. I would recommend this app for your first choice if you are trying to learn a different language.

Cha. R. May 3, 2022

I'm still a beginner but Im using it rn since I don't have a genki book yet but it's actually pretty good I'm using it to learn katakana since I've already learned hiragana but I might go over the hiragana again for the extra words but the beginner part pre-N5 is full of lots of info not just the alphabet and it even starts teaching you kanji and stuff I fell that might be a little too early but overall a good app 10/10 recommend

Ant. G. May 1, 2022

Very straight forward and has a lot of material. It also has an SRS system built in, so you don't have to memorize all of the words and concepts in one go. Cleanly built app and I recommend it.

cou. H. Apr 7, 2022

Much better than Duolingo! I love how it explains very well. Would recommend if you are serious about learning Japanese! I'm using it so I can watch original anime without subtitles!๐Ÿ˜ ( And there are pretty much no ads)

Col. W. Apr 3, 2022

Quite good. Unlocked everything for 40 bucks, seems worth it. Most annoying UI element is that you can't swipe backwards on lessons.

I think is a very helpful app, I like the explanation and tips when reviewing the grammar. I think the review section received a good update as well. For last, I know there is an app called Lirer from same developer to review vocabulary, but this is only for iOS, please bring it to Android!
