Bunpro SRS

Bunpro SRS is a Android appication that helps you study Japanese grammar. Each grammar point has example sentences that build upon previous grammar as well as links to other great free online resources for additional information. Users can then review the grammar they have learned using SRS flashcards that are input-checked.

When it comes to studying Japanese, there is an almost infinite amount of information out there. From grammar sites like Imabi and Tae Kim to great textbook resources like Genki and Sou Matome.

However, there is no unified path to study. Every resource has its own grammar study order and often times you will find yourself studying N3 or N4 grammar before you are done with N5.

While there is nothing wrong with this approach to grammar organization, it presents a problem to students who try to use other resources and end up finding a lack of continuity. In addition, many of the free sites and blogs that teach Japanese Grammar go far too indepth for a beginning learner and that leads a student to feel overwhelmed and frustrated.

With Bunpro, our aim is to give you some great example sentences for each grammar point that build upon previous grammar and then provide links to additional resources that exist that can explain the grammar in more detail. This will give you a concise roadmap of what you need to learn here and now. We feel that a good foundation is the most important part of language learning and using the wrong material or spending too much time making sure you have covered every nuance of a basic grammar point prevents you from feeling like you are making progress. A sense of progression is incredibly motivating and can be the difference between quitting after two weeks or sticking to your study.

Bunpro offers two things that no other grammar study method does and they are the key to keeping grammar learning fun and motivating:
・ Spaced Repetition(SRS) Grammar Flashcards
・ Input-Checked Grammar Reviews
How many times have you been studying grammar flashcards and you make a guess about the grammar. You look at the answer and see you were close and say, "Oops, that was what I meant!" and then check it off? If you are not required to input the answer, it becomes easy to skate by with partially correct answers.

Update to review: After getting it to function and working with it for a few days, I can safely say that while the concepts used in this app are solid, the functionality of it is a complete travesty. Questions are vague (though forgiving if you are wrong), typing is spotty, navigation is unintuitive and laggy, no decent notification options, and it randomly forgot I did the tutorial days after I completed it, so it made me go through it again. If it's worked on, this could be a fantastic app.

Was actually surprised to learn today that this is actually the official app. The review number never shows up correctly (I think there's a delay, and it doesn't count ghost reviews). The search function also just doesn't work. And it would be great if this wasn't just a shell, but an actual independent app, with possible offline features.

Bunpro the website is great, but this app leaves a lot to be desired. It's basically just a very buggy shell with the website version slapped in. Until it gets an overhaul, you are much better off just using Bunpro in a web browser (chrome, firefox, etc)

I am really enjoying this app it takes explanations from popular grammer guides like genki and Tae kim and combines them into a sort of gamiefied linear learning path starting with most basic finishing with end game grammer stuff. It's in my daily routine to learn 2-3 grammer points a day and then I add the ones I learn into a srs system like anki with the example sentences bunpro conveniently provides. Really solid app/website

The largely android-specific overview on this app is completely broken. The study count is wrong, the search doesn't work. Use the Web version until they fix this.

The app and materials are amazing and I use the app on my laptop and realized they had an app but there is only 1 problem with it otherwise it is amazing and I will happily add a 5 star. It won't sync with the reviews I have on my laptop otherwise I 100% recommend this!

This app wins "the most laggy award" on my phone. Uninstalling till better days. The browser version is great though, so I converted some of its greatness to the second star.

When I click on review it just takes me to a white page and nothing happens. Better to go to the web directly, even from the phone.

Bunpro in a browser works fine, but it's unusable in its current android app version. Therefore I won't be subscribing unfortunately.

Excellent for studying whilst commuting, lunch break, etc. Very good for the price!!

Better to just pin the website to your home screen than use the app at the moment

The app is interesting but it keeps freezing and crashing, then it goes back to N5 lessons when I set it to N2

I like This App but so loggy. Please update this.. Thank you. If you can do this with offline its more convenient to use. THANKS!

Probably the best Japanese grammar app... Just too buggy to use. My SRS review page (critical to progression) is always stuck on this ridiculously exclaimed "Loading Reviews!". Fix it please.

All it does is pull up random stata then links you to a webpage.

Just reached the last N4 lessons -- It's hard to tell which honorific form the review quiz is asking (なさる or お~になる)!

Number of srs reviews isn't updated, reading links aren't clickable.

Pur. N. Jun 19, 2019

Lesson numbers are scrambled. Unable to use review function.

All I see is a login option while there is NO register option in the first place.
