I am using this on my Sony Bravia X90J with the OEM remote and it is strait magic. I remapped the yellow, blue, red, green, and DVR buttons with short cuts to different streaming apps and my PLEX app where I have my DVR content stored. Love being able to have 3 options per mapped button INCLUDING the default action of the button!!! I do not think I will ever have to scroll through menus or apps for 90% of my TV use. Saves me time and frustration trying to find where the stupid setting or app is. One custom mapped remote to control all my media, pure awesomeness. Only thing it needs is a mouse function like mouse toggle... or maybe it has it and I just have not found it yet haha.
My phone has inaccurate app switch with double tap recent button (a third app opens) and it's slow. As a workaround I added last app action to home button double tap and it works great without bugs. So I added recents key from add buttons.(I didn't unlock pro yet.).And for some reason it doesn't work, there is no app transition. Also, it seems to hit menu button at the same time. Using back button for this seems to be not working too. I tried trouble shooting options.
I initially set it up to open RingGo app with a single press of the Bixby button. Then I wanted to not open Ringgo with it. So I set it to "do nothing" with a single, double and long press". Alas, it doesn't "do nothing" and still allows the default Bixby functions when double or long pressed &, no matter what I do, I cannot stop Ringgo from opening on a single press now. I'd be happy to pay to make it work as advertised, but I'm nervous of paying when the free version doesnt do what it should.
Installed on my Chromecast with Google TV to remap NetFlix button. After install the volume keys stopped working with long press i.e. when pressed and hold the volume goes one step up/down and does not increase/decrease like it should. Btw the volume buttons are not customized in the app. In fact I restored settings to default and only enabling the button remapper in Accessibility immediately breaks the long press behaviour. This is a showstopper for me. P.S. Found a partial workaround, in Chromecast settings if I configure the remote to use the TV volume buttons instead of Chromecast volume, then the long press works. It is a partial workaround, because the TV volume uses Infrared and thus you have to point the remote directly towards TV. Chromecast volume uses bluetooth, which works as long as TV is in proximity. So ideally, it would be great if this is fixed!
Chromecast With Google TV: Turned on an alternate use for the select/ok/center button ONLY for a double tap, but now can't use the center button for ANYTHING. can't force stop the app or uninstall without the select button, can't get into safe mode without it, no test or verify screen so it's completely useless, looks like I'm going to have to factory reset because of this stupid app. I read the warnings. that is why I was very careful with it. Why I only set something for the double-tap. The problem is NOT that I did something to cause a problem, the problem is that the app did something DIFFERENT from what I chose. It changed the default command, something I made sure was NOT set to change at all. I can't ADB into it because it requires you to confirm ON THE TV by using the select button.
I installed and paid for the in app price of this to remap the Netflix button on my Nvidia Shield remote to the mute button. Since doing that two years ago it has only worked 10% of the time. It’s nice when it works but that is rare. The rest of the time when I try to mute my tv the Netflix app opens. This app rarely works, don’t waste your money on it.
I had struggled with deactivating the Shield's Netflix button like many others, and had tried everything mentioned here, until I re-tried turning on Alternate Button Handling with one difference: Instead of immediately exiting that menu with the Back (left arrow) button, I cursored up to the top of the menu and then hit Back. That time it worked. Apparently, hitting Back while still on the option you've changed throws your change away!
Doesn't work as advertised. Save your $$. In responses to the dev: I'm not using it on my phone, but on a Shield Pro. Followers the instructions, it works for a press or two then remapping reverts back. I did flip the alternate button press switch but that worked doesn't work or doesn't stay flipped
Giving this a 3 for now because it no longer works with my Shield. When it was working I would have rated it 5. Yes I have tried both alternate button and action handling toggles. Neither of them work for me. Attempting to remap the Netflix button to another app and set a double tap mute button. I'm guessing this is due to the latest big Shield update (I've since further upgraded to Hotfix 3). Definitely looking forward to a patch to fix this issue and I will submit a new review.
Bixby button long press and double tap can't be used because its not possible to disable bixby functionality on a Galaxy Note9. So offering to customize them in button mapper is useless. Set single tap to activate google assisstant. Button doesn't work at all if the screen is off, even though Hey Google voice activation works when the screen is off. Works 5% of the time when the screen is on. Sometime on single button tap google assistant will open after a 3 to 8 second delay. Much easier and more reliable to just click the assisstant icon on the home screen instead.
5 stars (I bought the pro version, 5 bucks for all of your devices, totally worth it) because I wanted to remap two specific buttons: the Disney+ button on the RMF-TX621U remote that came with my Sony A90J, and the Netflix button on my 2019 Shield TV remote (which I'm also using on this Sony TV). These now open Plex, just as I wanted. Awesome! I'm also going to map other unused buttons on the Sony remote to make navigation more convenient. Very happy! Update, minor issue: the licensed buttons (YouTube, Netflix, Prime, Disney) on my Sony remote behave a little strangely; the app seems unable to distinguish them, but I've been able to work around this by setting up different actions for "long press" for these to achieve what I wanted. Still happy.
I'd like my money back. Works great a lot of the time, but when trying to turn up volume with screen off, it always tries to either skip the current song, or rewind to the beginning of the song then stop, forcing you to turn your screen back on you resume.
It's a good app but there's one issue, I'm always in and out of buildings and I need to have my phone on vibrate mode, so I ues long press on volume down button to toggle vibrate mode on my phone. And it works 75% of the time but sometimes it doesn't work like I turned the mapper off. Is it my phone that's turning it off?
Ok so I can't edit my previous review so hopefully this will make up for the bad review. I ended up factory resetting the Shield, installed this app again and boom! Everything worked as it should, Netflix button remapped to volume mute and I'm a happy chap again. So apologies to the dev and now to add back all the other apps :)
Is there a way to block system actions, when using the action from the app? For example, when using Active Edge to launch Camera, the Assistant gets activated for a little while, it seems, because I see the mic is getting used for about a second.
I'm not getting anywhere with my NVIDIA Shield TV (2019). Nothing seems to function since the latest update to Android 11. I've tried reinstalling, wiping data, removing and adding accessibility service, using the alternate options in the app; nothing works. Perhaps an incompatibility? Was working perfectly before.
Works like a charm and has a ton of useful features. I stuggled a bit with the configuration (actually really easy, I was just blind) and contacted the dev. Lightning fast response and he/she knew exactly how to help me. 👍
OnePlus 6T - After going through the adb setup, screen off actions work, but as soon as i unplug my phone from my pc the app automatically toggles off this setting and forces me to setup the adb command again... I used this feature 2 years ago on the same phone and it had worked perfectly then :(
Doesn't detect the buttons on my phone for remapping, which is why I downloaded, my previous review was deleted after 5 minutes which is extremely suspicious. The "pro" version is prolly worthless, and it requested way too many permissions.
I wish I would have tried this one first! I wasted money on another app because they bribed me for taking screenshots. I appreciate your info about using the app from screen off. Nobody else talks about this! I'm chicken about trying this on my new phone but I'm sure I'll get around to it. I had this app doing what I wanted in less than 3 minutes! Dave B
It works and has nice options. Older phones have to connect to a computer for some buttons to become remapable, but only for the initial setup.
WARNING!!!!! DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!!!! THE DEVELOPER DIDN'T LIKE MY REVIEW OF THIS POS AND ACTS LIKE A RICHARD. NICE.... Instead of remapping ONE button it changed ALL of the buttons to the same thing! And yet it happened. So it is possible.Jerk. I should not have to pay for an app that does not work correctly. I tried to remap ONE button on my remote and instead of remapping just the one it saw 3 of the 4 buttons as the same button and remapped all of them. I am NOT happy!
Works exactly as advertised, used this to customise the Bixby button on my S10+ running Android 12. Only feature request I'd made is if you could have separate button actions for when the device is locked but if that's not possible, that's all good. Thank you for your hard work!
Looks like a good app, but the documentation is severely lacking. My use case is simple, I want to remap some remote keys for Android TV to send a keyboard command (for Kodi usage) - I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do so and when I go to the developers website, there is not anything related to help. The thread on XDA is incredibly long and requests for information just refer back to the website. I paid for the pro version to unlock a feature, and now I can't even get it to work. Not impressed so far. Edit: See the response below. I understand he's one guy, been there, done that. But there is still no documentation to be found; and the response was an excuse, rather than an offer to try and assist me with my issue. Additionally, there is a link on his webpage to his facebook profile, where I messaged asking for help, with no response either. Not happy that I paid for something that I cannot figure out how to use... mea culpa.
This is a great app! I have a phone (BlackBerry BBC100-1) that has an extra hardware button that I can map to one thing only. With this, I can map it to three actions instead. It would be great if it had a triple-press action though.
Worked perfectly on the NVIDIA Shield to remap the Netflix button to Plex. I then paid to get access to the HTTP POST action so that I could remap my volume buttons to Home Assistant, but unfortunately the app does not provide a way to add request headers. Specifically I need to add an "Authorization: Bearer token" and "Content-Type: application/json" to the request for my scenario. Will be 5 stars if this functionality can be added! A native MQTT publish action would also be an awesome addition, but I can use HTTP POST to achieve that if headers are added.
Very useful app with loads of features. There is one feature that seems to be missing though. I have it installed on a Chromecast. The app doesn't seem to have the option to bind a button to restart blue tooth, only to toggle it on and off. But because the Chromecast remote is blue tooth, when its turned off the remote becomes unresponsive and can't be turned back on. Being able to restart blue tooth with a button would make solving blue tooth related audio issues much faster.
