I love the app because it's the only one that allows me to seamlessly sync European bank accounts. I tried other apps before and I left them because I wasn't constant in updating transactions manually. True that the Web interface is more polished than the mobile app. Still, bugs are minor and I've been able to workaround them. I'm reporting them under plus support and I'm getting responses so far, with a pair of them fully resolved. At the moment it's the one that best fits my needs
When I tried to cancel the membership, they keep trying to keep me, and made me annoyed enough to come here specifically and write this bad review. The only value I got from this app, is primarily on the high number of possible banks that it allowed me to sync with. The "Reminders" vs "Budget" side of things did not make sense with me, and ultimately, this app is VERY confusing in its approach. DO NOT subscribe, or try. It is not worth your time and effort.
Mobile experience is an non-experience ... desktop only slightly better Every time I try to log into the app it tells me I am on an outdated version. So I uninstall and reinstall from Google Play and viola! I am still on an outdated version!!! Even using in a mobile browser or desktop computer is frustrating. Accounta dont sync, Buxfer loses all credentials, syncs come through but rules arent applied correctly. Great concept but half-baked execution. And it is a paid service!
IMO best budgeting software for international users. Changed from Mint bc Mint doesn't allow for non-US accounts or currencies. Pros: international currencies, connects to all my banks and accounts (foreign and domestic, unlike Wallet), very customisable (can budget via "envelope system" or fixed amounts) Cons: expensive ($60/yr), support is unresponsive, can be buggy, not very intuitive UI
Whilst overall the app is good, there are still bugs. Some I would not expect to see, for instance, being able to change the date on a single reminder event; or even being able to delete a single reminder event without the app deleting the whole reminder series.
Very innovative on mobile, which is rare for an application like this. Especially the desktop versions is all fantastic, great overview, professionally looking and organized information with many type of info which is needed in a financial application for a better financial planning.
UI is quite poor. Even though I'm a paid user, the UI constantly pesters me about upgrading to higher plans for things I really don't need. I'm just using it until I find a better alternative.
The app's okay, but WHERE'S THE SUPPORT? This app is a useful way to see the basic transaction information and account totals in Buxfer, but not much else. There's no way to initiate a sync to update linked accounts, for example, but the real issue is that there's NO SUPPORT from Buxfer. I sent two email support tickets recently and had no response after a week! ...and it seems I'm not Buxfer has a truly excellent product/service, but without support it's just not an option. This is a pity because there are some really powerful features, such as the option to create custom rules that perform actions based upon the contents of a transaction's fields, but the documentation is just not good enough and leaves lots of questions. Not sure how Buxfer gets away with this, but I'm not expecting them to be around much longer and I'm certainly not going to entrust my financial control to a system with no support. I really love the app. The web interface works OK but the app has many bugs. I sent a few mails to support with screenshots that showed some errors. I hope the developers will manage to fix those errors.
Find another financial software app!! The syncing never works accurately. It zeroes my balances daily. Nothing works as it should. I emailed my issue to the ONLY avenue they have, their support email. I get a reply saying the fix could take 20 days. You can't speak to anyone on the phone or live chat because you must pay an extra $6 for actual customer support which is ridiculous. I loved the platform and software. It simply doesn't work. And lack of real customer support is unacceptable.
Simple to use. Detailed tagging can create the opportunity for very detailed, contextual reports. The program is a bit of an underdog. It has always been good to me, web & app. I recommend this to people who finally quit using mint etc..
layout might be abit clunky but the features it has are very good. I've used other finance apps but nothing as intuitive, and understandable as Buxfer. I love how you can see things clearly for each tag, and how forecast helps me to make decisions based on scheduled expenses and budgets.
This should be an app that is easy to enter in monthly expenses and categorize by type. I have income that goes into an account that isn't linked, being biweekly, Buxfer is forcing the amount weekly. Fast from assisting with a budget, this program is more like a random number generator!
I paid for the Prime subscription. I tried contacting support about duplicate transactions, about issues in the investments tab, etc. I have never been able to contact anyone, not by phone, not by chat, no nothing. I'd recommend using the most basic subscription
3rd Update: 10/21/19.Up to 5 stars! The developer fully engaged with multi-level concerns and took ownership of a small error on their side. 1st issue was second user unable to reach support. Developer is very responsive and all has been resolved with integrity and timeliness. Original Post >>> Opened a Prime account specifically to have access to live chat and phone support. Software repeatedly prompts me to upgrade to Prime AND have yet to reach anyone via live chat or phone. Will update review up or down depending on response
Edit: the app has improved substantially although every once in a while, it refuses to take in new entries. This calls for terminating and restarting the app. It isn't frequent though.
After recent changes to the system, a very large discrepancy has appeared between the balances Buxfer is reporting and the balances my banks are reporting. Over the last 6 days I have submitted 3 requests via the help system and sent 3 mails direct to their support email address. I have no response or acknowledgement whatsoever. I am very concerned about the competence of this company and the security of my accounts. The help desk has stopped issuing ticket numbers. The support email is a black hole.
Stay away until they find a better connection service. They use Saltedge and all the apps using that service are having issues connecting to the bank accounts so if you want the app to keep the data updated with your bank you'd be better somewhere else. I have a support ticket going on with this problem (118586) and waiting for a solution. I will happily change this bad rating when I get that problem solved.
Seemed promising, price comparable to quicken, but after serveral tries with support, my checking balances were consistently wrong. I found myself double checking this app constantly and putting in "dummy" adjustments just to make it balance, finally gave up went to quicken
Best app in the market. No question about it. Works perfectly in both, mobile and desktop platforms. I have used other app extensively, including the leaders in the market. Buxfer knocks them down beautifully.
Please provide an android widget for quick entry of unlinked and cash accounts and showing expenses on screen without opening the app. I am using desktop app more than 2 years as pro customer, which is amazingly good but android app needs much more improvement for user friendly experience.
Keeps crashing. Edit: To be more specific, the apps gets 404 error randomly on login (seems to be connected to the website, which also gets 404 at the same time). Whenever I tap the investments tab, the app restarts.
Stay away! Constantly deleting random transactions. Not a great feature for financial planning. I've contacted support and all they want is screenshots of missing transactions.
Poor experience with this app, because you have to subscribe before you can try out any features or even see what the app looks like to use, I ended up paying money just to discover it doesn't work for me. Both on a personal level (didn't find it intuitive, features were a mess), and on a literal level - it wouldn't sync my main bank account. Or rather it told me it had synced it, but it didn't show up, and I couldn't attempt to re-sync it as it told me it was already synced.
