BVG Tickets Berlin

As of spring 2022, the app steals one minute of the ticket validity: The clock starts from the moment of purchase, but the ticket appears 1 minute later. While this does not sound like a lot, it is 1/15-th of the Kurzstrecke's validity. It also forces one to miss a train or a bus, despite being at the stop at the right time, and having alread paid for the ticket. No such timeout is imposed on any other ticket - so the users of the app are penalized for reducing BVG's ticketing costs. Well done!

After the latest update, I cannot select the start station, neither manually nor automatically, meaning that I can't buy the tickets. EDIT: after re-installing the app, it works again. However, I still think there is a room for overall improvement in the app (i.e. UX), and would happily increase the ratings if it happened.

Bad, bad app. It is a great example of the "digitalization" of Germany. You will need 4-10 attampts until you will be able to complete a ticket purchase. On top of that you have the 1 min cool down until the ticket is valid which is COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY not encouraging people to actually use the app. Common , BVG, you can do way better then that!!

The app crashes veru often, I need to restart it almost every time I buy tickets. I need to start buying tickets 5 minutes prior to departure because of that. I appreciate the timer being visible now finally you don't have to guess if your ticket is already valid or not. However, it'd still be better if the ticket was valid right after purchase, without the 1 minute waiting...

Overall I like using the app, I don't have slow payment problems like mentioned in other reviews. But since the app started asking me to log in, I have lost two times already the rest of my 4 trip regular fare tickets but short trip ones still stay. I dont understand how you are allowed to do this! I am basically paying 9EUR for 2 trips!

This app causes me so much anxiety. Its a total lottery if its gonna work or not. Ive had so many tickets that got activated the app showed me so sort of error. Ive been taking screenshot after screenshot im case the controllers come, so ive some evidence of struggle. In many cases, i had to get off and get a paper ticket only to learn after that my digital ticket has been activated. This exact thing is happening to me now. The app is free but ive spent so much money unnecessarily.

Like others, very slow. On mobile data it takes me 3 times of purchasing, waiting 10 min, killing the app, and trying again. My mobile data speed is only 128Kbps (TMobile USA phone). Another problem is when I have 1 ticket left in the wallet from a 4 pack, I cannot buy more until I activate the one I have. If this was fixed, I could buy more tickets in advance then just activate them when ready. The activate works much faster than a new purchase (another 4 pack) over a slow connection.

App is very slow. It takes forever to buy a ticket. I need to activate a ticket waaaaaay in advance to make sure I can board public transport. Functionally it's good. UI/UX is fine - but unusable because of how slow the app is. Update: the app is still unusable. I can't even activate my tickets - it's a nightmare, not an app. I guess I am back to paper tickets. Seems like paper is the only thing working in Germany.

The app barely works, takes ages to load. Usually crashes when you switch to payment screen and says you have a pending ticket payment open but it doesn't show up and you can't try to buy again for 30 seconds or a minute.

the connectivity is pretty bad. tickets don't update, they disappear and now they even take a minute to activate after you purchase them. there is no alternative so hopefully the app gets some future improvements to make the app less buggy and unreliable.

I have now lost two 4-trip-tickets on two different occasions. I bought a ticket via PayPal in the app, used one, and the next time I was told to log in with my user account. When I did, my 3 remaining Tickets were gone! This is unbelievable. Please get back to me and refund me those tickets, I can give you my details I used for the payment.

Wow! The slowness of this app is unprecedented! If there were an alternative, I'm certain everyone would use that. Unfortunately, they have monopoly, so we're forced to use this. ~2 years of use (with several different phones), so no, it's not temporary and it's not solved by reinstall. As a fellow develper: Have you no shame? I'd be so embarrassed if I were a developer for this app! How can you sleep at night, knowing this is your "best"!?

Incredibly slow. Every time I use Berlin public transport every second matters and the app shows me 5-10 second long load screens after every step. You don't need to improve your app if you a monopolist, right?

Major bugs. Incredibly annoying! and for a month now it has stopped showing me the rest of the bundle ticket. I buy a bundle, get to use one ticket, and suddenly the other 3 are gone.

4 bundle ticket update fails over and over. Overall the ticket buying experience is super super slow (also on the occasions when it works). Need to launch the app waaay before you enter the ubahn/sbahn station to make sure you will get a ticket in time. Also there should be a graceful way of handling switching from wifi/lte in the middle of buying a ticket.

I purchased a monthly ticket for Berlin AB, payed for it and was using it for 2 weeks. After purchasing a one time extension ticket for Berlin Zone C that was valid two hours, the first ticket (the monthly one) simply disappeared from the ticket list. Do I have to purchase the monthly ticket again or risk being fined in the public transport just because of a bug in your app?

The app itself is good. But 2 minutes to activate a ticket! I got a fine thanks to you. Will uninstall and use paper tickets like in the stone ages. --- Update --- Reply to BVG's comment. that's true one should activate before jumping into the train, the problem is: it's activate time + 2 minutes until the red time will become normal. If the inspector checks the app while you are in the train and the text is still red one will get a fine. Which is super confusing to the user. it's better not to show the ticket code at all than to show it to people and people enter the train and get fined. So with the app it takes request time to purchase the ticket + 2 minutes till the red text to disappear. so buying paper tickets is actually faster more reliable and one wouldn't get scammed. It's like it is intentional by the company to make people pay fines.

The app does its job and it's easy to use. Points of improvement: 1. It would be better to be able to purchase the 4-trip tickets without forcing the user to activate at least one 2. The map of the rail network is too small and can't be zoomed in at an acceptable size, I am not short sighted but still can't read it, especially when on the go

Was a good app (in my experience) until they started requiring you to register with bvg to buy any ticket. With this and the 1 minute validity delay, I'm going back to using the ticket machines at the stations...

Wish I could give 0 stars. Another update that logs me out of my account without notification or message? With the new 1 minute delay before tickets become valid, I would have had to pay a hefty fine had I been checked whilst trying to remember my login and buy tickets. Seriously, this app team needs to work on properly communicating these things to their end users when the time frame for buying tickets is so short.

Well... It does work ok most of the time. But when it doesn't it is just really annoying. Last weekend I missed 2 trains because the ticket wasn't loading and the machine had a long queue.

Bought an extra ticket from automat because the app wont make a purchase for over 4 minutes. After i buy the automat ticket, my money from paypal is deducted for the digital purchase after all the that time. So basically paid twice for the same ticket.

Since last update, extremely bad user experience, especially because now you need to wait 1 minute before your ticket gets validated, and you get a fine if the controller checks it. How many times do you get on the train last minute? Quite often right?! That's just dumb

Major bugs on this app. Similar to many other reviews here, when I go to activate a ticket in the 4 ticket bundle, it often asks me to "update my wallet", after which the ticket disappears (it isn't activated, it's not in my ticket history, but I have 1 less ticket in the bundle). Worse - I've complained about this before, and was told to reinstall the app to fix the bug. I followed this advice - surprise surprise I still encounter this issue. Can you please fix this.

There are loads of bugs in the Android app. You'll buy a bundle then it goes missing and comes back a few minutes later. The buying process is very slow as well.

Today's update broke the app. I've been trying all day, repeatedly to buy a ticket and it always ends up with an error. It used to work very nicely before Later edit: Works well now, ty for the fast reply

It's very helpful when it works but recently it's taken to "uodating" and then losing the ticket that I'm trying to use. I've lost maybe 4 tickets from my wallet so far. Deeply annoying.
