Bishop Vayalil Memorial Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal was established in the year 1995in memory of the first Bishop of the diocese of Pala, Mar Sebastian Vayalil, who strived to make education more accessible throughout his life. It is a minority institution belonging to the Roman Catholic Syrian Christian Community and is under the patronage of the diocese of Pala with the Bishop of Palai as its Patron. The college is situated in Cherpunkal in the Meenachil Taluk of Pala. The location of the college is breathtaking as it is nestled between the Holy Cross Forane Church and the Meenachil River lusciously
flowing alongside it. The Holy Cross Forane Church is one of the famous pilgrimage centers of Kerala and draws hundreds of pilgrims who throng to seek the blessings of Infant Jesus. The college has been endeavoring to reach new levels of height with its many new initiatives in the teaching-learning process and has achieved anever-rising graph with the blessings of the heavenly patron Infant Jesus.Today BVM Holy Cross College, Cherpunkal is one of the leading self-financing institutions under the Mahatma Gandhi University.
