Spent hours on the telephone attempting to get this to work. Eventually they offered me a refund. The American tech service blamed the Italian programmers... Appears they didn't even want to resolve my problem.
Active Captain No Longer Available! The weather feature does not work. The course over ground line disappears after toggling weather, routes or compass. Seems buggy.
Useless app. I purchased a C-Map already for my plotter now I'm supposed to spend another $20-$50 to view the same map on my phone? Not gonna happen. I'll use my chartplotter.
Works great. Use this over my Navionics charts. Please, please add Activecaptain or other database back into the program!!!!
Really awkward to use. Not at all obvious. And how to get more-detailed maps? Not obvious. Deleted app.
Active Captain was why I got it. That is gone, so are you. Sorry...
Finally managed to purchase a chart via their convoluted system. Bit frustrating you can't buy via Play Store. Anyway, I now have charts and the reason for buying them is because Navionics is out for the Anambas Islands, whereas c-map is more precise. Apparently. I find the interface clunky and not very intuitive but if this helps us navigate around Indo then I'll update and upscore the app. First impressions: clunky, unintuitive, expensive, doesn't utilise capacitive technology that well, but could provide better navigation data than the market leaders like Navionics.
Now I have installed this app on a Lenovo tablet, paid the extra for more than one device, the app refuses to open even though it says it is compatible.I am trying to use this app on a samsung galaxy s5. Most of its good but I have asked for help so I can use the "weather part" the video clearly on youtube shows the weather but the app won't open the weather info. The tide part does not sow either. No one has contacted me about this. I have paid for the c-maps but can't seem to get any further. Shame as it seemed like a great aid to navigation for our boat.
I wanted an ActiveCaptain app and wanted to try C-map so I installed this Android "Plan2Nav" app. Sadly, it is such a slow app, spending much time spinning and waiting, I am not willing to put up with it at all. I'm going to delete this and go to MX Mariner. Reports of it "having been good" were obviously re: a previous version.
It used to be excellent and I have used it in areas that my Garmin's were useless. Now I can't use it as I have too many devices on it. All I have it on is Motorola Droid. C-Map wants me to unregister a device, perhaps unregister the phone then reregister. Seems dumb to go from excellent to total PITA.
I installed this to see how it works with Active Captain as it's one of the Android nav. map apps they recommended. But this app with the default maps, which have no detail on them, doesn't work with Active Captain. It says to zoom in further but you can't because the crappy map doesn't zoom in enough. Useless as far as I can tell.
This app was OK two year ago but Navionics has left it in the dust. Navionics sonar charts show much more detail and their app has much better chart plotting and navigation. Don't waste your money on this.
Dl for use with AC, but will not allow you to zoom in close enough to use it. Total waste of time.
Tried two good US cards to buy maps, but both were rejected.
Worked fine for a while, then stopped. Unable to load maps that I payed for, and no response from my email.
Problems set in after several days of useful operation. Simone at c_map responded promptly and well to my complaint. All well for now, and I am grateful for such good customer service.
Once again if I went to use the app on my phone and it said it's unregistered I have to go to my tablet on register the phone and then re-register the phone and this is the third time now I don't have my tablet with me and the freaking map won't work because I can't register my phone because it says it's unregistered and I can't register the phone what's going on why are you on registering my phone without me doing
The app itself works fine, and ActiveCaptain is a huge plus. For five stars, it needs to support Google identity and in-app purchases (you can give C-MAP your credit card to buy maps, but other apps let me make purchases via Google which is far preferable).
Won't update. Phone number built into app takes you to non existent web page. Trying to download offline maps. Paid for app. The developer took the time to put a page in the app saying to not write a negative review about this but hasn't fixed the problem.
If I can not register makes it pretty pointless
Simply does not work...Fails on open every time.
The more I use this app, the less I like it. You can't edit waypoints ("favorites"). You just keep tapping around blindly until you settle for a waypoint thats close enough. You can't put waypoints in routes. The little flags seem to actively avoid waypoints. I can't figure out how to save multaple routes or give them names. You can't adjust when layers deactivate. If you zoom out more than 50 nm the buoys disappear. Makes it impossible to navigate more than 50nm ahead of you. Useless for lake crossings for this reason. Bad on my mobile device and an absolute hog on battery. Would not recommend.
I've used this app for navigating over 8,000 miles. Never failed me.
Updated now does not work
Very cool app
If you have problems contact them. They are the best. I did a factory reset on my phone that caused problems -- they spent a lot if time and energy on me and fixed all problems. Simone you are the MAN!
Says invalid email tried mutilple times Uninstalled and reinstalled still not working
Updated 6/2: I originally bought this and gave it 5 stars because it was a decent chart app and had ActiveCaptain integrated. They have now decided to remove ActiveCaptain. Without this, Navionics BoatingUSA has pushed ahead to become a better overall system with numerous features far beyond what Plan2Nav has. It's also a bit bogus to remove a major MAJOR feature when you have paying customers. Oh well.
