I tried the demo on the website where there are lots and lots of different voices to choose from to read your text so I said OK, this is pretty cool so I bought it. The paid version gives no different voice options at all, no settings menu, nothing. The one voice that reads your text back isn't even Irish. I immediately tapped refund. Deceptive, deceptive, deceptive. Ughhhh
Overall, CereProc is my go-to for text-to-speech apps, and Caitlin has been on my Android for about two years now.. It's very real and natural sounding. Unfortunately, the most recent update of it was rather disappointing, because had some pops and sounds that should not be there.
The clarity/quality has diminished. There are pops clicks and scratchy sounds constantly. Makes this otherwise brilliant tts unbearable.
My voice of choice. Cereproc makes excellent voices that are more naturally sounding than any other that I've used. I use Cereproc Caitlin on my Win 10 pc, and on my Note 7, and am now installing this voice on my Lenovo Yoga Book. With consistent performance on multiple devices with multiple OS configurations, I can't say enough about the technical performance. Where this voice really shines is in the warmth and vocal inflections that make your tts tasks feel as natural as human conversation.
Stopped working, unistalled, reinstalled. Shows installed but when i try to use it tries to download but doesn't actually comlete.
Excellent voice for a phone. Not up to my mac desktop, but I dont expect that.
Setting doesn't stay. When I switch preferred speech engine from Google to cereproc it switches back
I've never been able to get it to work. It's set as the TTS, but doesn't work at all.
My favourite TTS, thank you for fixing the distortion issue.
ita a great sounding voice but i dont know how to get it to work with Waze so i ended up refunding it sadly
v3.2.0 had a quieter tone and didn't hurt my ears so bad.
Her voice is just perfect.
the app crashes.
this TTS is trash a waste of money. William is millions of times better
Would not work on my note 4
No longer works. It's stuck on starting screen when I activate the app. Tried clearing cache, data, uninstall /reinstall, messing with system time & date , made no difference. Devs have no solution, Google wanted me to try a huge list of things including resetting my phone. Not worth the hasssle really. Oneplus 6 on Android 10.
Very realistic and pleasant, good enunciation. --- UPDATE --- Changed phone from Android 4.0.4 to 4.4.3 (Samsung Galaxy Light) can no longer respond.. UPDATE 2 -- Now on Galaxy J7 Android 8.1.0 and still can't get Google maps to use Caitlin, but this appears to be due to hard coded linkage within Maps. Caitlin is the victim, not the problem
The Voice is beautiful
I hate that Gmaps uses its own voice. Caitlin is a classy, not overstated nor particularly localized accent. She's also a most gender-flexible voice, or handles menopause gracefully, and can speed up with clarity. If you use tts a lot, this is an excellent English voice to use. Irish lends to clear consonants, and differentiates vowels (if you can adjust to them).
This is my favourite-sounding TTS app. My main use for TTS is to read epub books to me while I'm walking, driving, commuting or whatever. However Caitlin has flaws that others in the series - eg William - don't, including pops and clicks, gapping and outright stopping. I think there must be some memory issue, though my phone has 6GB of RAM. She's basically unusable for the functions I need, which is a real shame.
Caitlin is an awesome voice! I absolutely love her accent. You're literally hearing something that sounds as good as real life speech. Minor hiccups in pronouncing certain words. But her cadence is fantastic. William U.K. is now my 2nd favorite. Anyone else recommends another Cereproc TTS, I'm all ears.
I tried the William voice but it sounded terrible on android, completely different to the website demo. This one sounds better but struggling with some words. I have to say CereProc offers the best TTS voices on the market. It's just a little hit and miss how well they sound once you download them.
As an Irish native I have to say that the accent is uncannily good. The only TTS engine I could even contemplate having read to me.
For some reason it no longer works on my Galaxy Note 4 with marshmallow. I get an error message saying not supported in the voice to text settings.
App has aa spaz out if you turn the phone on its side. Locks up
This is a lovely voice for smartphones. It must have been updated as its working fine on my Note 4's (running lollipop & marshmallow) despite a review to the contrary.
I have bought and used Caitlin TTS for 3 years now, and I have satisfied, HOWEVER after recent update in February 2019, the quality of the audio has diminished, as it now sounds like a scratched record with occasional clicks and pops. I wish I could revert to previous version, but I don't know how to do that. Please fix!
