Three background options
Land Boundary - Color coded background indicates land ownership boundaries.
Transparent - No background so that it can be displayed on top of satellite imagery or another map.

If you like to venture off of paved rodes, and hike, bike, off-road, this is the best map out there! This map had more details of trails, paths, routes, than any other map of this area. The publisher is receptive to comments and requests for additional areas of map coverage. There is no better topographic map.
Please update the app so that it hides the images folder and CA Trail Theme folder. These 2 folders show up in the photo gallery. Its pretty annoying because when picking or sharing a photo you have to scan through all of the map legend icons.
This is not a free app. It is subscription based service at a rate of $25 a year. Note to the devs make your landing page look like it is worth paying for. Currently it looks like trash and i am not willing to pay to find out if the rest of the app is too.
Very complicated to install. I paid $50 for the full upgrade and access and I still cannot get any California trails to load. Not user friendly.
The overlays are the best out there for the region. All trails are legal and zoom levels don't crowd the map!
This is the best trail map for California. It does a great job of showing you which are the proper trails for hiking, horses or motorsports. This is The One. Get it!
Finally got the email with the links I needed so I'm changing my review to a more positive review. Paid for lifetime full access and have not received the link I need to download. Have contacted numerous times but have not got a response.
So glad these maps have been brought to an app. I've been loading these on my Backcountry GPS, excited to try this on my next trip.

Pointless app the makes you download other apps for money.
This is by far the most accurate map of California trails I've discovered! At a glance you can tell where you can hike, take OHVs, and what requires a license plate. The map receives regular updates and adds new areas.
