The concept is great, the execution is lacking. Needs pinch to zoom in and out. Right now the scope is really narrow. Needs two finger panning, the ability to avoid dirt roads, and a posted speed limit reading. With Google, Apple, and Waze, I think the integration can be drastically improved. Not sure if I'll renew as it's a lot of money to have to pick my way around gravel roads. Note: I only want paved roads, and yes, it creates (many) off-road routes.

Honestly, I LOVED this app and used it all the time. I spent 2 weeks learning and using the redesign before reviewing. I'm still unhappy. It's especially bad in landscape mode and with gloves. The floating card for route planning is entirely too small. And quite disappointed to see a routing option removed. Less intuitive for sure, but biggest problem is landscape mode and tiny ui elements. It's just so non-glove friendly. (Hoping I can find an APK of the old one for daily use until improved..)

The app itself is fantastic and it performs as expected - with routes being what I'd expect for motorcycles. I've enjoyed the free options enough to consider a subscription however there's no option for a monthly billing cycle, something which I believe would provide a more balanced medium for those of us that can't afford the annual cost but know the weekly one is far to expensive.

This app is buggy and resource hungry, the mapping is not very clear and it sometimes shows contradictory instructions simultaneously. (I'm using a Pixel 5.) BUT, the roads it finds make it all worthwhile, I just got back from 2,000 miles round Spain on sublime mountain roads I would never have found without Calimoto. In towns I use Google maps, if I just need to get somewhere I use Google maps, but if I want to have fun I use this.

Pricing is ridiculous. Only 3 provinces are included in the free plan for The Netherlands (I go to all 12). Then you get constant nudges to get Premium which is recommended to get the annual plan which is €50. Or if you don't want to be bound for a year you can choose to buy premium for €7 a week(!) which is over €350 a year. And then there's a completely ridiculous offer for buying the whole world for "just" €100. Calimoto looked to be fun but I won't be using it if they stick to these prices

So far I like the concept of the app with the round trip option as this is the best part but it seems to pick same routes if you use the same starting point and hopefully in the future it will use your already ridden routes to change the round trip roads used but other than that it's been great so far mostly. I would like to see an easy way whilst riding to suggest edits as sometimes you'll get directions that don't realise the road has a junction or sometimes it says turn left or right on bends

I have used the app for touring the UK for two years. It is great, really clear, when on the go, but route planning could be so much better. I micromanage each trip down to the smallest detail to avoid weird diversions. The planning takes as long as the trips!! 1)need an option to set the style of route ( eg twisty) OVERALL and not just between via points. My current trip has 17 via points which need individual settings. 2) it needs time to and between via points, not just time to destination.

Works great for the most part. I only have two problems I've found with it is sometimes it shuts itself off, and when you search for anywhere specific it can't find it. You usually have to put in a town name and get close or manually drop a pin. But it's amazing for planning out long rides or even just giving you a round trip with some curvy roads based on the miles you tell it you want to ride and the direction you want to go.

The new UI is much more complicated. I now cannot seem to access the settings during navigation, at least it is absolutely unclear where I would do that. Also I now experience freezes of the directions. Furthermore, managing of set waypoints could be done in its own fullscreen window before. Now it's a tiny window window-in-window, which makes reorganizing super tedious when you have more than 10 points. All in all the app used to be amazing. 5 stars hands down. The new UI is dreadful however.

Amazing app. I love how it is designed with bikers in mind, unlike other sat nav apps. The round trip option is perfect for a ride out, finding all the best roads and ending up back at the start point. Also I like the option of bendy roads or fast roads. Just set the route, lock your phone, put it in your pocket and go. Instructions are clear and announced long before the junction, which is great for bikers, giving you plenty of time to prepare. Well done to all involved in the making.

Great App! Really simple to use and a great way to discover new routes. I like the way you can set a distance, direction and twistyness of the route and it usually comes out with a winner. From using this several of my riding friends have also gone on to download and subscribe. Great work - the only improvement i would like to see would be the addition of speed limit information as some of the smaller roads it sends you down can be a bit lacking in signs!

5 stars. I'm a convert and I've now ditched the Garmin and just use this. I've used this app more and more recently and every ride its plotted has made me grin. Very impressed. Creating routes couldn't be easier. Would be nice if you could create folders and group routes. Would also be useful if you could separate locking rotation of the navigation screen from the planning and setup screens. These are too hard to read in landscape.

Overall impressed with the auto-twisty/auto-windy route calculator as well as the well-established library of user-uploaded routes. However, im frustrated by how difficult it is to bookmark routes and actually summon your bookmarked rides on the app interface. I have to manually search the route i like from the user library every time i want to try a specific route again. Seems theres no actual profile-saved bookmark library for easy access. At least on the lite version.

I used to love the app prior to the recent changes. I find it harder to navigate now and it doesn't seem to save the changes I've made to my planned rides anymore. It also doesn't let me change my destination sometimes, instead it adds the change in as a first via point, so I end up getting annoyed and deleting the route and starting again. Fantastic app but I preferred it prior to the in update.

Great idea, but it needs work. Wish this would use Google's map API for addresses/road names, but use their algorithm for the route. This app is tailored for Europe as it struggles finding addresses in the US, which is a shame. This works better than Rever. Accuracy is not great either. I have missed several turns, but hey that's great U-Turn practice. Voice wouldn't always say the road name. Which is dangerous on a motorcycle needing to look down frequently to double check.

Was great, new update is a utter disaster so bad im cancelling as its just so hard and buggy. Doesn't render properly on screen in landscape in particular. The stupid drag up down menu blocking buttons and the key pad over laying. wont cancel or close current route gets stuck in save ride loop and doesn't clear. have to close app altogether to start again. Always trys to save stuff you don't want or need. And the search function flat out doesnt work and has a odd layout.

Ric. G. Apr 25, 2022

They've taken a half decent app and made it next to useless for bikers to use on the fly (out and about but pulled over to add a meeting point etc) with the last big update. The buttons on the planning screen are way too small bearing in mind you'd have cold hands or touchscreen gloves on. The via option is so small I often miss the button when looking at home. When i sent an email i just got a cut/paste reply saying how glad they were i used the app!! Redesign the GUI please for bikers!!

I've been using this app for over a year now. It just keeps proving itself to me. Helping to make sure I find the curvy/twisty roads that make rides fun. This app is the only navigator I use. Be it for a day ride or longer journey, I have total confidence in Calimoto. Still occasionally I look at maps for twisty roads (though those days are a lot less since using Calimoto). With their ease of adding via points, I can have the app get me to a road I know/love on the fly. THANKS CALIMOTO

The navigation sometimes miss leading and unreliable (turn in -x meters, wrong frozen signs, etc). It still is not possible to move the map during navigation/driving as with all other navigation programs. The new UI is unneeded, annoying, disturbing and occupies to much map space. There are tiny icon and texts - sometimes even again dark red or grey on (darker) grey, which is hard to read. And there is way to much unused space around everything. And no offline routing is available: e.g. just pinning the target and even *without* search for street names. This makes the offline maps rather pointless and obsolete. Offline maps cannot be stored on external SD card anymore, which is *NOT* IMPOSSIBLE even with latest Android version, as Calimoto wrongly claims. See Locus Maps and other tools. Weather overlay and terrain shading only work with Online Maps. In the tour planning it is now entirely impossible to select between adding VIAs optimized (default) or strictly sequential, because it is not possible anymore to enter settings menu during planning. The tour has to be setup the one way or the other. It is also not possible to change sequence of vias in the list. Still no way or option to zoom with Hardware volume keys (e.g. when audio is disabled or feature is configured). Sometimes features just gets removed (instead of having enable/disable): e.g. a scale bar on the map and others mentioned above. In the top dashboard only two values can be configured. Years ago I liked the app, but it is screwed up now, getting worse with every release and a pain to use. Thomas

DO NOT PAY FOR THIS APP It's fine as a route randomizer but as a navigation tool it's awful. Constant 'recalculating route' errors that trap me in a loop, turns that go by before it tells you they are coming up, the volume leveler makes it impossible to hear while music is playing, the list goes on. If they ever allow you export routes to google maps I'd care, but as of now forget it.

29 March 2022 Edit: Still my favorite app for riding and the only one I'll use. The latest update is a nice refresh and I think I'll like the app even more! Fantastic app, I love the algorithms for finding the best twisty roads. If you are looking for an app that will log your rides with a guick button press or if you are the type of person to plan out and save routes to take for future trips, this is the app for you. Keep doing what you are doing, you have my full support!
