When I first installed the app, it worked just fine and did all that it claim to do. This included obviously identifying calls and blocking them or not answering them if it was on my list. I can also look up the random number whenever I wanted to. However, after I applied the last update, this Byzantine piece of s*** stopped working almost completely, except for identifying calls that I'd already had in and not answering them. I can't enter an odd number without it crashing .

Update: I deleted this app because it kept crashing and wanted too many permissions. Even after I gave it all the permissions, it still kept showing a pop-up telling me to grant permissions. Too bad, because it was starting to get better at identifying callers. So. I haven't found a decent replacement app yet. I have my phone set to do not disturb permanently. If a caller is not in my contact list, it won't ring. Oh well.

On an unwanted call, it takes forever to actually block the call (or else to bring up the option to add a number to the blocklist). It seems to ignore the setting of blocking by area code. Also, worst of all, it crashes consistently if you try to use anything beyond the most basic of functionality, such as attempting to view details on a specific number.

Blocked numbers are checked in list while phone is ringing so it doesn't actually block the number. The phone will ring and can leave messages even if they have been blocked. Usually stops ringing in two or three rings. It does show where the call is coming from, but most of the calls aren't actually calling from the number it shows as the criminals use app to display another number different from where they are actually calling from. Don't get me wrong, it's a great app. ⭐⭐⭐

Haven't used this app in years, IDKY. Ready to give it a go again though, bc as I recall it was pretty good and it was free. Update: Jan 24 Knocked down from 4 to 3 stars, keeps shutting down & restarting. Essentially useless. Will uninstall & reinstall, hope that works. Update: 3/11 It still keeps shutting down & restarting. Asks if I'd like to give feedback but restarts before I can. Can't check out any number. Shuts down. Uninstalled & reinstalled several times. What a shame.

App keeps crashing not to mention its only blocked 2 scam calls out of the average of 10 that I receive every single day. The Look Up feature HAS NEVER found the number to tell me who the caller is/was a it "claims" it will do . My "block number" on my phone works just as well if not better than this app and VERY disappointed in the performance. I thought maybe I was missing some type update, but that wasn't the case either.

It does a good job of detecting calls, not perfect but plenty good enough. An update: the feature which allows you to block area codes does not work. I've tried un installing and reinstalling but still doesn't work. I've looked over other call-blocking apps and they seem no better. This one's free with NO ads. I'll stick with it and its imperfections.

I'd used this app for 2 or 3 years without any problems and loved it. Suddenly it's no longer working! It keeps saying that I have to give permissions, but I've given all available permissions listed within the app. The only exception is that the pop up lists SMS notifications, but that isn't even listed under permissions within the app, so I'm unable to. What has changed? Did you recently do an upgrade that has messed up the functionality? I hope the problem is fixed soon.

keeps spinning on verifying...Can't finish install. Apparently I didn't get all permissions set. Will get back to you. Installed again and program works as designed. It really helps so I can screen calls and find out later details of unwanted callers. Appreciate a user friendly program. I like the ads on the bottom, so they are unobtrusive to the program, and they open in new window so you can easily get back to program. Thanx.

I have used this app for a number of years, without issue, however, when I updated to Android 11, it no longer works as it once did. It crashes when I try to get more info on a call...I've uninstalled and reinstalled and no change. I've hard rebooted my device...no change. These issues, along with ones others are having, need to be looked into and fixed.

I used this app for almost a year and was very pleased with it. It worked as well or better than any other, with lots of features that I liked. A week ago, I transferred my phone number and service to another Tracfone phone, exactly the same make and model and roughly the same age (about two years old). On the new phone, CallDetector crashes when I try to open it. Uninstalling and re-installing made no difference. Uninstalling it from the older phone, then restarting and re-installing on the phone I'm using now also made no difference. I see from other reviews that this began to happen to other users at about the same time, with no response from the developer or from Tracfone. It's too bad, because I liked the app and would have given it five stars. Now, it's unusable.

I've only had this for one day so not too much experience with it yet. The first thing I noticed is that I can't add numbers to the blocked list from my call log. This feature was available with my last call block app (which isn't compatible with my new phone) making the addition to the block list super easy and quick. I miss that feature but hopefully will get used to it. Other than that, the app seems to offer a lot of good features. Time will tell.

Not all calls that the site signifies as scam is, so check the # before blocking. But it's nice that you are notified during the call & I have blocked quite a few. The problem with the app is the huge amount of storage space it uses (so phone updates can't download) and the draining of your device that occurs. I would have rated it more of a 3.5 if I had that option. I may keep it for a while to enable blocking some more scam calls, but will delete it eventually because of those issues.

Excellent app. Completely free & no ads. This app has single-handedly reduced my spam calls to almost zero. One suggestion I would like to make would be to add the option to block all incoming calls except those in my contact list. I am sure that, for some of us, this would be the ultimate in robocall / spammer defense.

I use the Tracfone service and this application does NOT work at all. 1) If I use the built in settings on my phone, just the settings on the phone itself, works 100% perfectly with blocking calls. 2) This app does NOT block calls. I want to block all unknown calls (meaning any phone number, that is not already added in my contact list). This application allows every single unknown call to be RECEIVED regardless of any setting you set in the application 3) Your phone will ring, regardless of whether you turn the blocking on or off. My phone rang 5 times even though the phone number was NOT in my contact list. Furthermore, even if the caller is anonymous with no caller ID information, your phone will still ring (despite the fact that you set in the application to NOT receive anonymous calls). Now it will abort the call after one ring, but you will still hear your phone ring every single time (suppose your in a classroom or meeting), every single time you get a phone call you will hear your phone ring. Now if the whole point of blocking calls is so you are not disturbed, as I said suppose you were in a classroom or meeting, then your phone will still ring every single time you get a call.

Had to change from 5 stars to 1 because it crashes & won't allow you to find out details about the calls coming in! It also allows blocked numbers to still come through! I have No idea why the devoploers won't respond, it's like they could give a damn about anything we have to say! This app hasn't been updated since 2019, I guess that should tell us something!

I love the app. Does a wonderful job blocking spam, unavailable, and gives me the option to block a call as it comes. I am able to put my own numbers on a call list that want to come to through. I also have the feature to to put messages, from callers I don't know, on a spam list and delete the message at the same time. Because of the phone company I have, I get PREMIUM services for free. Even if you don't have the option for the all the services free, I recommend that you buy the PREMIUM services. I will, if I upgrade to different carrier. Why? I had my identity. I was getting spam calls even from different countries. This phone dective services has kept me from having to change a phone number, I have for a very long time. Keep up the awesome job on the app!

It doesn't work. Your supposed to receive a verification code. I've never had a problem with every service I've had to use that uses this type of authentication. They claim to stop the scammers but oddly enough they are a scam. What they do is request access to all your contacts which you have to give them in order to progress through their 'setup process'. I even requested 3 new codes and never got a single one but they made sure I gave them all my contacts info first.

Love it! Comes as an included benefit with my wireless carrier/provider. Simplifies an annoying and time consuming task. I get SOO many spam, scam, and etc calls that I used to just get overwhelmed because Id wait till the end of the week to go back and block all the people who had called. But now as soon as my phone rings a call detector pop up allows me to block the number right then and there even if im in another app doing something. Without interruption to what I'm doing. Thanks.

I really liked this app, it worked perfectly for awhile, then it just stopped giving me the choice to answer or not. I keep getting a notice that I didn't accept or allow everything needed. I have turned everything on that I have the ability to turn on, with no change. It is a shame, because I really liked it. My phone is a a straight talk phone which is in the trac phone family.

Call Detector is a very useful app flagging/blocking scam calls, it tells you how to block any callers you choose not to interact with them on any level. Also, Call Detector pop-up screen will allow you to block the call during the call you can add numbers at anytime without a bunch of bullcrap to get back to it. It is one of the best apps I've ever used for unwanted calls, scammers, harassment and personal reasons you may not want to allow that person to call you.....

I'd had it installed on my cell last year but I ended up taking it off cause I decided I didn't really need it. However, with all the robo calls going out now, I decided to put it back on. Never had any issues the first time but this time around, I did. Only had it on my phone a few days & it shut my phone down ! Not only would it not ring when a call came in, I couldn't send or receive a text message. Once I uninstalled the app, my cell started working properly again. Sorry Call Detector.

Update: Still useless! Still hasn't blocked a single call. I have to report and block numbers on the app and then again in the phone app. Plus, I can't find any way to delete calls. (5/21) It hasn't blocked a single call yet. The most that it is good for is looking up calls that come in or text messages that come in to see where they're from and even then, half the time, there's no information, not even a state.

Clearing Logs. Over time both the call log and the blocked log become huge, yet the app does not provide any means of clearing these, save for deleting each entry one at a time. An earlier version had a broom icon for this purpose. Pop-up window. Each call generates a pop-up window where you can choose to immediately block the call in progress, but this window partially blocks the "answer" and "dismiss" buttons! Making answering tricky.

This app gives you your text notification as well as rings. It gives you caller I. D. Info. On their color alert that pops up on your screen. You can choose to block the number or answer it. As well as mark it as spam. I'm very pleased. I'm hoping that I start getting fewer and fewer calls as this app starts recognizing spam calls. It let's all numbers in my contact through as well as business, and Dr's. That I do business with. So far, so good. Right now I'd say try it.

There are a lot of scammers that constantly call me from different numbers each time. Each time I get a call, if I want, I have the option to block the phone number. It also had caller I.D. I can even add more details to the phone number such as scam, nuisance, etc. Even if you block the phone number, you still have the option to answer the Call if you like. With all of the scam calls now a days, Call Detector gives me peace. I love it! When a scammer calls, Call Detector blocks them right away!

Absolutely incredible! I only wish I could have had it sooner. It's awesome. My phone has a call block feature but this app shows the names of the business that call. I've tried many others and this is by far the best! It deserves 10 🌟 stars! It's really that awesome. I never write reviews but I had to this time because this is so great.
