Calls Blacklist - Call Blocker
If you are tired of annoying calls or messages: telemarketing, spam and robocalls, then "Calls Blacklist" is your solution. It is very easy and lightweight, yet powerful call blocker.
You can either block numbers from your contacts list, calls, and messages logs, or add them manually. Numbers from the blacklist are blocked quietly and without any signs of a call. Whatever you do, you will not be distracted by phone calls or SMS.
What’s more, you can block calls from a range of numbers using the "Begins with" option. This option can be very effective against robocalls, as they often use similar numbers which only differ from each other only by the last digits. Alphanumeric numbers, which are usually used for SMS spam, can also be blocked.
The app saves all blocked calls and messages in the "Log". Also it provides you with notifications regarding the blocking, but you can disable this option in the app's "Settings". Don't worry, you will never lose any important call or message.
Sometimes, you simply don’t want to talk to anybody and the app can help you. Using the "Schedule" function, you can set specific times when you want to block calls or messages to your phone.
However, if you don't want to lose your connection with certain people, "Calls Blacklist" also provides a "Whitelist" feature for you. The app will never block calls or SMS from numbers of this list.
Finally, this call blocker does not consume any of your device's battery power, memory or CPU resources.

- Why do I need to set "Calls Blacklist" as default in the SMS app for Android 4.4 and later? It is necessary in order to enable the app to provide its SMS blocking function. This is due to the limitations inherent in Android 4.4 and later, which only allows one app to manage messages.
- How can I remove the icon in the status bar? To disable this icon, open the app's "Settings". Next select the "Notifications" section and turn off the "Status bar icon" option.
- How can I unblock numbers? Simply remove the number you wish to unblock from the blacklist (click on the number and select "Delete" in the pop up menu).

Fixed it! At first, it was blocking calls left and right. Then, mysteriously it stopped. Apparently if you haven't opened an app in a while, Android removes that app's permissions. Without permission to access your contact list and to manage your calls, the app cannot function. I uninstalled and reinstalled, changed its settings to block what I wanted, and it asked for permissions again. Then I turned off Android's ability to remove this app's permissions again later. All is well now.
I keep seeing online that this is one of the top rated apps for call and text blocking, and the Pro isn't much different from this version. Well, I've had it for a short period of time and it's already crashed once. You can't send photos or videos via text and it looks like I might not be able to do group texts through the app. After reading the reviews, before I even downloaded it, I knew it wouldn't work for me long term. But it keeps the weirdo spam msgs away until I can get my # changed.
Simply, it doesn't work! When I first installed it 12 months or more ago it worked fine. But then it stopped blocking blacklisted numbers and it will not add a number to the blacklist from the call log; you have to manually enter the number. I have written to the support/developer email and no response. Google Play needs to step in and notify the developers or just pull the app off the Play Store as it's not functional and the developer doesn't care.
Fantastic. I was a bit apprehensive at first and wasn't sure it would work but it does. I've been inundated with sales calls recently so I've now blocked any number that's not in my contact list but was worried if friends got a new mobile number that they'd be blocked too but I can allow numbers (whitelist) i don't know that start with 07 so I'm pretty impressed with the app.
I've had this app for about 1+ yrs, Worked perfectly before. Easy to use, but it barely works now. It fails to pull numbers from the call log to add to the list even though I've granted the app permission, it just crashes. No longer blocks calls. Unable to save the #s I blocked as well. I wanted to save my list and uninstall/reinstall the app then load my blacklist in hopes that it may help the app work again but it just crashes when I try to save. Tried reinstall & tested but fails still. :(
02-Mar-2022: Calls Blacklist doesn't work with the latest version of Android 12. I love this app. Since the day I turned 65 I've been barraged with phone calls about supplemental Medicare plans. Sometimes I get as many as 20 calls before noon. This app has blocked all of the spam calls. It also sends the caller straight to voice mail so anyone can still leave a message if they're not in my phone book. It also allows me to add numbers to a white list so those not in my phone book aren't blocked.
I no longer receive unwanted calls, I love this app. There is an issue with Android 12, the OS reports that there is a battery issue with frequent crashes. UPDATE: app rarely works under Android 12 with app crashes and most of the spam calls come through now. Tried reinstalling, but it doesn't fix it.
Had a terrible evil person calling me from random numbers and then calling me private and I was able to download this app to keep that from happening but for the last year it hasn't functioned properly it does not block private calls even if the setting is checked and it doesn't block them even if the calls Blacklist app is used as the default. totally disappointing was absolutely perfect until it wasn't. 😕
Ever since I downloaded Calls Blacklist,unwanted calls and messages have been blocked from disrupting whatever I'm doing on my phone. Thereupon,I've been having nothing more,nothing less than this awesome comfort of not worrying about sudden useless calls and messages. Plus,it is really simple in terms of layout and usage itself. I also like the fact that it's active at the top- screen-roll-down-menu,which allows me to check it quickly just by tapping on it. In sum,Calls Blacklist is very useful
Incredibly unreliable at best, and at worst it may as well not even be running. When I first started using it, I didn't set it as my default calling app, and it blocked about 50% of the calls it should have blocked. I set it as the defaul phone app as it requested, and it somehow blocked FEWER calls, missing 90-100% of them. The flexibility of the blacklist rules are great, but it would be nice if they worked.
Update: since I've gotten a newer modern phone, the app does not work as well as I like. It doesn't block like it used to. Now it just silences my ringer. It still vibrates, and I'm not sure in unsilences my ringer. It also turns itself off after every call it blocks. I hope these things get fixed. Original review: Does exactly what I need it to do. Does what it says it does. It was simple to set up sending unknown numbers to voice mail that weren't in my contacts list for my review. I didn't pick SMS because it looked like they were saying they would replace the original app with theirs, which I was a little leery of. All in all, it does what it says it was going to do, with the least amount of effort in my part and has reduced annoying telephone calls to zero.
F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C. A must if you have a cellphone in the U.S. Blocks all unrecognized numbers, not for you if you need to receive inbound calls from random numbers. If you need to block those Russian robocalls from numbers similar to yours, this saves a lot of headaches. Easy to switch on/off when expecting a call. There is a pause in media/audio when a call comes in, but it switches it over quickly. This is due to Samsung's architecture, and can't be overcome by an app. I LOVE IT! THANK YOU!!!
Very easy to use, and it only takes a minute to get used to the settings. Set it so that it only accepts the numbers in your phone book; others will go straight to voicemail without the phone ringing. 99% of spambots don't leave a message, and the one or two that do, you can just blacklist the number and also the first six digits which eliminates them alternating the last four to try and get you to pick up. My phone would ring anywhere from 6 to 10 times a day with Spam calls; now my phone is silent all day (accept calls from people I actually want to talk to) and I love it!!
Very happy! I I know there are mixed reviews recently for this app, but my experience has been very positive. I simply wanted to route ALL calls not in my contacts to voicemail, without an alert to me, and that is exactly what it does! It is AWESOME because I do not have any more spam calls. (I get some spam voicemails, but can easily remove those). This app has many other settings besides what I set. I just don't want any unknown calls and so set to that setting.
Worked great until it suddenly didn't anymore. The call comes through and rings until it stops and goes to voicemail. However, the logs for this app indicate that the call was blocked even though it wasn't. I went through the settings and permissions. Everything is in order. Far as I can tell, whether it was an android update or an app update, it no longer does its job.
Great app that blocks the spammers. I have it set to "Contacts" which works wonderfully. A weird thing is that every new number I dial shows up as a blocked call while I'm on the call. I haven't noticed it disconnecting calls when a blocked call comes in while on another call. Maybe I just haven't had it occur lately. If you have addressed that, nice job. If not, please look into it. I'll keep using the app either way.
Easy to use and works like it should! Edit!!! After using it for a while I noticed that it starts to randomly block numbers that are on my contact list! I tried to correct the error by setting it up again (Whitelist/Never block list) and it'll work for a while and then it'll go back to randomly blocking numbers on my contact list. This is very frustrating! The only way I'll know if a number got blocked is to put audio notifications and check it!
This app is a godsend. I've tried 4 or 5 different call-blocking apps but this is by far the best! Most of the others I've tried will "screen" the calls and tag them as possible spam but still let them through...which isn't really helpful. Even using the free version of this app, I can completely block calls from numbers not in my contacts. It's everything I've been looking for in a call-blocking app, and the price can't be beat :)
The developer has two call blocker apps. The worked beautifully, but then started blocking calls from my contact list. I wrote to the developer twice, and sent screen shots of my issues. I never heard back. These were great apps. If the developer gets back to me and fixes the issues, I will rate them 5 stars. Right now, they are useless for me.
This is an excellent app - it does exactly what it is supposed to do. But it has at least 1 major shortcoming. You cannot edit existing blacklist entries! You cannot even copy it! You only have the option to delete it. Sometimes I need to edit an entry by changing the digits. Other times I want to change the type of entry (starts with, ends with, etc.) So now I have to delete it and recreate it. Also, some of the other apps I have tried, warned me if an entry already existed in the blacklist. This one does not, as far as I can tell
I'm only giving 4 because for some reason I can't figure out it's not blocking calls until I answer. It's probably a phone setting, but which one? It's wanting me to take blocked numbers to add from my contacts list. Makes no sense. I'm going to upgrade to the premium as soon as possible. 😍 the blocking on sms is awesome. I was getting several messages a day that drove me insane, this app has successfully identified spam and sent it packing!
I like that I don't even hear the phone ring, but that I get notification of a blocked call. I also like that if someone calls, they *can* leave a message, though. That's how I've been able to determine numbers to whitelist & reply to the caller. Others that are definitely spam can be reported & further blocked/ erased from the list of incoming calls.
Exactly what I wanted. I use a whitelist and only allow people in my contacts to come through. It would be nice if that was just an option in the whitelist part of the app (it might be there and I just missed it). Otherwise, you have to click a checkbox next to each of your contacts and have to update it every time you add someone. Also, the blocked calls are still passed on to your voicemail so if it's not a bot, they'll be able to leave a message so you can call them back or add them or w/e.
This app deserves a' -10' stars. There's no point in blocking people who don't have your number? I "black listed" three numbers from my contacts list, and low-&-behold... All THREE Numbers were able to get through. Grrrrr It didn't seem that hard to set up. In fact, it seemed too easy, instantly making me feel as though I messed up. Obviously, I did, because this app completely FAILED, to block. A tutorial should be added to the opening pages; some guidance & direction, or something.
Great, when it actually works. This app does exactly what I want it to do - block all numbers that start with a specific area code. But then it randomly one day, stopped blocking the calls. It logs the calls and says it is blocking them, but the calls still come through. I have contacted customer service (using the in-app instructions) with no response.
