Effective and comprehensive. A few hiccups: for instance, if you are inputting your food for the day and need to add one that isn't already there, you have to finalize (check mark) what you already added or it disappears and you have to input it again. Also, an optional "final weight" input for recipes (that anyone could input on any recipe after making it) would be a great add-on as it would allow for easier portioning by weight instead of eyeballing it (or keeping that info in my notes app).
The free part is ok but needs a bar code scanner to make it easier to provide nutritional values. I would expect it has all these features when you buy the premium. I also don' t see the sync with google fit, that must be on the premium package as well. Not sure thought.
A few small issues like cals rather than kj here and there. I'd like to have my own complete list of foods (favourites) that I can manually enter. You'll find it helpful to toggle between app and website sign in. I'm only using the free basic version which serves my needs for my own personal record keeping. For those that like the community aspect, it appears there is lots of support.
I'm not happy with the latest update of Fat Secret. It used to flawlessly integrate with my Diabetes-M app and made it easy to mark things as "favorite" that I ate all the time. I don't have a need for calorie counting etc in FS because I already have that in the Diabetes-M app which I pay for every year. Now, I can't so much as "star" my favorite almond milk in my other app. It says it has to access my FS account (where my favorites are stored), no problem, I say yes. Goes back to the same screen and I click yes again and it closes out what I've entered and pops back to the main entry screen. I realize this problem is an integration problem but I suspect it has something to do with the new premium feature which allows menu building... and "favorites" must count as part of that. If someone has a fix for this, I'd love to hear it because as it stands now, while I appreciate the use of the calorie etc database, Fat Secret is pretty useless in making my life easier as an adjunct app for controlling my diabetes.
Very clunky UI, no way to enter calories directly. Didn't have even the most basic features I need, which is simply entering food, calculating calories or entering them directly for the food. I couldn't even do that.
Amazing app for counting calories. You can choose from the large database of foods. It even has most foods specific to my country. You can also edit any of the foods if they are outdated or incorrect. Amazing.
This app has helped me to see my pattern of eating. Very user friendly and forgiving to editing any profile goal (weight, calorie intake, diary). Would recommend to beginner life change person needing an easy app to navigate dieting journey.
The user experience overall is nice, encouraging me to stay fit; however, there’s a little problem I am now facing, that the nutrition data synced with Google Fit isn’t accurate and appears to be counted repeatedly, which is quite frustrating. Hope the tiny flaw can be fixed.
I love this app! It's so easy to use and the nutrition content search is the best part! There's so many brand name and pre-existing entries...Also, being able to share my progress (or not) with a community of other people with the same struggles is just awesome.
Very user-friendly app. Easy to use and easy to add your own foods that aren't already on the list. I enjoy being able to see the percentages of protein, etc. I'm eating and adjust my meals accordingly.
I love this FatSecret App. I really learned a lot about what worked for me and what didn't by having a space and place to self-analyze my life-style habits. On occasion, it might remind me once to log at least my dinner but that was it then nothing the next day. If I got too busy, NO pushy constant bombarding of messages. Also, this app helped me become aware of my caloric intake and portions.
Great Calorie Counter with a Terrible Name. Every item has the option to be entered in grams or in servings. It is easy to enter new food items. The interface is simple enough. It is easy to create flexible recipes as "meals" which can then be adjusted ingredient by ingredient if you need to. I wanted a calorie counter as good as Spark People. This is it.
Easy to use, informations are shown in a clear and comprehensive way. You can sync it to your Samsung Health app or else and it will include your burnt calories of the day. It makes eating healthy easier, faster and more comprehensive if you are not realy into it. Would totally recommend to anyone!!
