CamerAlert
CamerAlert is a self-contained Speed and Red Light Camera warning system using data from the renowned PocketGPSWorld.com Speed Camera Database. It provides both audible and visual warnings as you approach a camera. Uniquely, when you are in a section of SPECs (Average Speed) cameras, CamerAlert displays your average speed between each camera in the zone. CamerAlert also utilises directional information to reduce the number of "False Alerts", you are only warned for cameras that monitor your direction of travel.
CamerAlert works in two different modes: Map and List. In Map mode the main display is a map with the cameras positioned on it. This can be shown either as "North Up" or "Course Up". The list mode simply shows a list of all the cameras in the area, highlighting the ones that you are approaching.
COMPATIBILITY: CamerAlert requires an Android GPS capable device. It will not function on a device without a GPS connection as it requires a GPS receiver to accurately determine your position. The moving map requires a data connection so users without data capabilities will have to run the app in list mode unless they have data access via a MiFi or similar external data device. CamerAlert is compatible with all Android devices with OS of 1.5 or above.

PocketGPSWorld subscribers can use their annual membership to keep the camera data up to date by linking their member details in the app. If you are not an existing subscriber you can subscribe in the app to ensure access the our regular updates. A subscription can be used on other GPS devices as well as the Android (maximum of three devices, one of which may be an Android or iPhone SmartPhone). An annual subscription costs £19.99.
Another feature, unique to this app, is that the latest data can be downloaded over the air at any time to ensure you have the latest speed camera information to remain safe.
If you see a camera that is not in the database then you can report it using CamerAlert. This feature can also be used to change information about a camera already in the database i.e. changing speed or direction information. You must register the App to submit cameras.

Best speed camera alert app ever, it gives you an early warning and it can be set. it's a must have app, This gives you freedom on road by not sticking your eyes on the speedo instead on the road. I am using a paid version already three updates. It does need UI improvements the team looks at user satisfaction. When compared to the ones with a heavy price tag on the market. This one is fantastic and works just fine. Fine tune the setting as per your requirement and route. You are a free man!!!.
I've been using this excellent speed camera database for years on Garmins and also on Android phones with this app. It is undoubtedly the most comprehensive database for the UK. The app does not work on Samsung phones running Android 10 with One UI version 2.0 or lower. Version 2.5 is OK. If you have this problem, then try using Speedtrap Alert as a wrapper for the Pocketgpsworld database. Full and clear instructions are on the developer's website.
The other reviews say it all. Very good when working had it auto start every time in the car. But needs to now be updated to work with Android 10. My only other minor comment when it was working!! would be it announcing mobile cameras when it's dark. I've never seen any mobile ones when it's dark. Going to try speed trap alert for which you still need to go to pocketgps or Tom Tom etc to get a database of cameras
Worked perfect until latest update.now wont load keeps saying this software design for older version of Android. My current phone is running Android 11. Still not working, why don't they give a link to last version before the problems started. Or at least keep users updated...still no updates to sort on going problem. Not working on android 10 & 11..total lack of communication from developer ? Lost 2021 subscription. Go elsewhere this is ap isrubbish ....
Accurate and reliable camera alert. always updated but unfortunately not automatically. database updates are small enough to download over 4g, so would be great to see an option to for this in a future versions.
This app doesn't seem to be maintained to work with recent Android updates. You really can't expect customers to take a subscription for a service using an app you produce, and then expect them to keep coming back when it keeps failing? Please invest some of that subscription cost into updating the app. Thanks
Used to be great. I got a free year for reporting a camera but this is useless if the app won't work on Android 10 and above. Might have to go back to using my TomTom device purely for cameras. Can use the Speedtrap app but I find it a bit flaky when compared to CamerAlert. C'mon, get the app updated.
Does not run on latest samsung android. I have got 2 new cameras to record and not able to use the app. Paid subscription just going to waist. Come on people this problem is known and also is the fix.
This is one of the best SpeefCam apps i have tried. BUT it keeps crashing on Android 9 and desperately needs an update to be able to work with the latest versions of Android
Not quite sure how this app is supposed to work but on my morning commute I had about 20 mobile speed alerts of which one was real - google maps only alerted me once to the real speed camera. I will stick with google.
App was working perfectly. But now after the update it's crashing. I uninstall and reinstalled the app but still no luck. I am thinking of unsubscribing my annual subscription.
Pocketgps use to the best camera database, use to do about 40k miles a year 12 years ago it spotted every camera but now it seems users have moved away from them so the database is not as good as before.
Won't work on my new Android phone (xaiomi redmi 10 pro). App made for an older version and cannot find an update . Worked perfectly on my previous phone, will be sadly missed.
THIS IS NOW ABANDONWARE - DO NOT BUY IT. This will NOT run on an S10. There have been no updates for a very long time and there is no response to user complaints - I tried. It used to be a great app but it is now defunct, unsupported and abandoned. AVOID.
To all of us who are giving one star reviews. Please check out SpeedtrapAlert for Android (costs £1.99). This can be used with the pocket world gps database, also the database is compatible with many other hardwares.
In the past this was a gòod app and works well on older android versions but has not been updated to work on newer versions 10 and up. Works fine on apples latest IOS 15.1.
App fails on delivery of new Android builds; fine on old Sony Android 9 but fails on Samsung Android 11. I had this problem when I first went to Android 9 so OS updates are slow. Is this just slow on Android or does iOS get impacted too? I'm hoping enough 1 star reviews will change this situation 🙏
What would we do without CamerAlert. Brings sanity to a road network of snakes & ladders. Helps drivers in advance to drive cautiously in the hazzard hotspots and also benefits attentive skilled drivers. So easy to update the camera list and infinitely adjustable to your own preference. Long live PGPS World!
Useless on Android 9, works well on my iPhone 10 and is great on Mac but have tried many times over a 6 month period to get it to work on Android with no success.
Doesn't work on Android 11 period. Don't know how they expect to survive as a business when they show no signs of updating their application. Application hasn't been updated in 6 years!
Built for an older version of Android.. Crashes and won't open on my S20.. Funny as my subscription to PGPS keeps taking my money, but the software that runs it is obsolete!!
Since updating my Samsung phone l now need to take an old Android device when l need to use CamerAlert so the App is not Andriod 10 compatible and is therefore not worth buying or the 1 star l gave it...Probably the beginning of the end for this App so don't update your subscription or buy it if you are using or going to start using an Android 10 device.
Apps get updated but CamerAlert has been left behind. Such a shame, it was an excellent app. Come on PocketGPSWorld, you know you can do it!! Till you do, this goes down to one star.
Needs updating to work with latest version of Android but no sign of any plans to do so - will likely cancel my PGPSW subscription since little use without this app...
Recently stopped working with google maps on galaxy S8. No fix available from developers. Wont be renewing my subscription Used to be brilliant
Used for many year but is now useless due to not being compatible with the latest android versions. I now have a pointless subscription to the pocketgpsworld database.
Doesn't work anymore after Samsung 10 plus update. What a waste of money. I would never of paid yearly subscription if I'd known.
Don't see the point of paying for a subscription but the app is completely useless. Why not invest that money into getting the app to work on android 11+
Just discovered it also calculates your current average speed between cameras! I use it almost every time I drive, but normally have google maps on top and I only see the camera popups. Any chance of showing the speed on a popup while you're in an average speed trap? The thing I'd really like to see, though, is the ability to download the database automatically over wifi, instead of hearing "take care, you are not using the latest database" every week and having to start the download manually.
