Camp Chef

The app is a good start but much development is needed. There needs the ability to set temperature alarms on the probes. The UI can be made much cleaner. I hope that CampChef continues to develop the app to improve its functionality. I've had no problems connecting or setting up the app so I am happy with that. In wish CampChef had a way of consolidating user feature requests and prioritizing them so that a world class control app can be developed.

I like being able to control my pellet smoker from my phone but this app has several bugs. The updating process is very inconvenient and the smoker is rather slow to recognize that it needs an update. Trying to name and set temps for the probes is near impossible. I was able to change the name and temp on probe 1, however the app crashes with each update. I have tried doing the same with multiple probes and the app crashes with each change and doesn't save the changes. This is a huge miss.

Lazy, mangled app for such an amazing grill. The UI needs a complete overhaul. The benefit of controlling temperature is the sole perk of the app. The ability to precisely control when and why I receive notifications would be great. Please add recipes to the app, but not the way it's set up on the website. That's a trash process, too.

Love the new abilities of the app but I agree with other reviewers that it is buggy. Also, after the update I can no longer connect to the smoker (ww36) when I am out of wifi coverage. I used to be able to make a quick run into town during a long smoke and still be able to monitor the progress and adjust heat/smoke levels. Now it doesn't work. Not sure how to remedy this. The smoker has connectivity with wifi but if I am out of wifi/bluetooth range I can't connect to it at all.

I had to reduce my rating of this app. The overall upgraded app works great with one important flaw. The timer sound notification is at a frequency many older adults, such as myself, will have great difficulties hearing. Such a simple thing to make the whole timer function nearly worthless.

Borderline garbage... I like the features but it doesn't work have the time. Couple examples right now is it wo t let me reset my password. It sent me a confirmation code but then doesn't allow me to hit next after I put it in. Also sends me notifications when the unit isn't even on. I like the grill but whomever designed this app needs to work in a different field

Brutal. Always looses connection, both wifi and Bluetooth. Tried bring BBQ closer, changing access points, rebooting etc. Great grill, horrible app and connectivity. I give up.

Updates never work. App says grill needs update. Grill updates, app says it won't work with the current version needs to update. App says grill updating, gill already did but stupid app doesn't see that it did. Now app won't work with grill. This has happened before. I have tried to reset the grill and redo bluetooth and wifi connections but app just keeps saying can't work with this version need to update. Yet it worked fine before the stupid update. Love my grill, just fix the stupid app.

New app is very slow. Search function lets me type in the search box but no submit button. A large portion of certain screens don't display. It's like the screen isn't big enough to hold the data. Can't find a way to change from Celcius to Farenheit. No help on the website either. Edit: had to reduce font size. Was cutting off Celsius setting. Liked the old one way better.

I was excited to see the app updated in January but I am underwhelmed. I have the latest version as of Feb 2-22, and the app is buggy - it force closes if I go to history but not all the time. History data was there for a bit, but showed 2 entries for the same day. Then after my cook, history is gone. There still is no way to tell if your grill is "up to date" or not as the interface always just has a grayed out update button and only tells you what version you are running. No where can you find the actual latest version or click "check for update". It feels like this app is developed in a vacuum with no feedback from actual users. The older version was more stable.

Works decently but I'm waiting for all the bells and whistles. 2/28/22- latest update is not very Android friendly on Google Pixel 4. Some numbers and letters are cut off at the bottom. No real instructions on how to use the graph. I guess like everything it's going to take some getting used to. Bluetooth doesn't work since update.

Buggy and crashes a lot. Surprised it is not better as it doesn't do anything to complicated. Almost two years later and this app is still garbage. Crashes a lot. Has connection issues. I have reinstalled it over a dozen times. Every so often it will work fine for a few weeks then it is back to being useless.

The smoker works great, but the app does not. On the rare occasion that the app works, I love it. Unfortunately, the vast vast vast vast majority vast vast of the time, the app will not connect with the smoker via Bluetooth or wifi, rendering many of the features for which I specifically purchased this smoker instead of many alternative options impotent. I really hope they fix the app.

Constant app problems This latest version of the app is full of problems. I no longer have Bluetooth connectivity with my Woodwind grill. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and updated the grill firmware, but the Bluetooth connection keeps dropping. I'm still able to use the grill, but not able to do anything with the app.

Absolute frustration with the app! The grill is wonderful. The app won't recall previous connections and will not reset passwords to re-establish a connection.

I downloaded the app thinking it was a camping cookbook for camping over an open campfire but it turned out that it's to give people recipes to use on a smart grill at their house using wifi! Very misleading and wrong because even the description says it's for camping! When most people go camping that know how do basic camping they don't usually take their grill! You need to make sure people know it's not for camping in the future.

Horrendous app. Constantly crashes when trying to log in. Once logged in it constantly disconnects or crashes. It is completely useless. Please fix ASAP.

App doesn't work on a pixel 6 pro. Freezes constantly and refuses to connect. Very disappointing experience.

Unusable, It won't update or find my device. I had the same issue last year on a different phone but I could at least set the temp and smoke and check probe Temps. I don't understand what is so damned difficult about creating a working app in 2022. I have the woodwind wifi 24.

This is the worst experience I ever had with a so called smart device. I overpaid for this grill specifically for the app and it never works. Just keeps asking me to pair over and over again and it won't accept any of the Bluetooth pins. If I could rate zero stars I would.

Doesn't work whatsoever. Once you type in any information you cannot move to the next screen. I've had nothing but problems with trash camp chef apps, bowed drip plates (yes, SS literally bowing up after 10 uses under 400 deg) causing grease fires, and faulty probes.

CC should stick to making grills not software. Absolutely terrible interference and connectivity options not to mention ux. Due to cheap wifi module, grill can't update firmware within 20ft of AP. Back button does not work properly and basically the app is mostly useless, just as remote temporary monitoring....

Latest update and now the app won't connect to grill. Worked flawlessly until recent update. Customer service took a snapshot of my grill and sent me an email stating, looks like everything is working fine... No everything is not working, app won't connect to Woodwind 24, and is a brick at this point.

My Galaxy Ultra 22 will not load app or allow me to login. It has been trying to load for a while, sometimes i get a failure to connect screen? Should have gone with a proven competitor.

I've had to Uninstall and download app many times for it to work. It never wants to connect to my grill and always loses connection

Ok, love that you added a timer but on my android, the alarm tone is very difficult to hear. Granted, I'm a musician and have lost high frequency tones, but this should be something to configure please.

The new update is completely unusable. It takes 20 seconds to respond to any selection, if it ever actually works, and it crashes frequently.

The app does work better than the previous app, but my question is, why doesn't it allow an icon to be downloaded? Do you have to go to the play store to open the app every time?

This new update crashes my phone hard. Samsung S8 which is an older model but an app completely crashing the phone causing a restart? Even the old app was buggy with connection issues. Love the grill but about to give up on the wifi and app connectivity. How can an app this bad with so many issues be released?

App is now displaying centigrade, I want Fahrenheit and cant find how to change it. FAQ and search do nothing. Also is hit or miss for functioning, super buggy. Nearly useless for overnight smoke. Didnt notify me of cook error last time, by the time I went back out my chicken had gone bad instead of smoking. makes me regret the extra $ on the wifi unit over the basic.
