CamToPlan - AR measurement / tape measure

Measure anything with CamToPlan! Horizontally and vertically! Length, distance, area of any surface… Measure everything with this virtual ruler and tape measure thanks to augmented reality and ARCore.

Measuring a length is now easier than with a laser meter or any other measure tool. You draw your measurement lines in 3D thanks to the camera directly on the video of your phone or tablet. You export your plans in PNG or DXF. CamToPlan is the AR measuring app that brings your measures from cam…to…plan !

For personal or professional use, always measure like a pro. Thanks to Virtual Reality (VR), you can measure floors, dimensions of walls, windows, doors or a whole home in a few seconds. No more tape measure or ruler needed!

This app has infinite applications for everybody:
- Personal use: the length measure app for the handyman who loves DIY !
- Real estate professionals (real estate agent, interior design decorator or designer, architect, topographer, energy adviser...): this app will help you make a floorplan of a house, apartment, a specific room of a flat.
- Construction workers can use it to quickly measure jobs : concreter, tile layer, carpet fitter, painter, drywall guy, plasterer, builder, carpenter, electrician, plumber, slater...
- For gardener, landscaper, swimming pool builders and maintenance, digger, earth-moving, navvy: this app also works outside
- Cost estimation professionals: this length measure app can make pricing estimates, it will be a great assistant for quantity surveyor, price studies technician, economist…
- Building industry: foreman, site manager or engineer can drop their tape measure and ruler to perform a quick measurement check

How does this measuring app work?
It relies on ARCore by Google. Machine learning algorithms combine the device sensors data (accelerometer, gyroscope…) with odometry which analyses in real time the video of the camera and relies on visual details of images, in order to scan the environment and find the position and rotation angle of the device.

Please note:
- you can measure in metric (meters, centimeters) or imperial units (feet, inches)
- the app measures distances horizontally (= on the ground) and vertically!
- no need to remove the furniture from the room for measurements. The application determines the intersection between the floor and the target, even if it is hidden.
- The application may have difficulty with some types of tiles. The accuracy is not guaranteed.
- you can move while performing measurements to get closer to your target point, for maximum precision, even if it is not visible and calculated by extrapolation.

Might be useful for a quick wag but it's not accurate enough to say, measure a room for furniture. It needs some way to calibrate. Standing in place in a room and scanning a wall, its +/- 6 inches over a 10 ft span. A little better if I treat it like a real tape measure and walk from point to point and take a close up where I set the pins.

Nice idea, doesn't actually work. God, I wish it did. but i went to one of the smallest, most simple rooms in my house and the app made a total mismash out if it. Was also very difficult to connect lines to create actual geometry property. I get the feeling the tracker would work okay if my phone could float by itself, rotating in a single point in space, but because its more or less impossible to simulate that using human hands, it doesn't really understand what it's looking at. Sigh.

I was honestly looking for a cam measurement app that would only take two measurement points from one selected point and measure from that point to the second selected point; this just blew it out of the water because I have so many projects that will benefit from this technology and past projects that retrospectively could have benefited. I'll have to send an updated review later, but the different functions (redo, remove, and end) are all working perfectly. I'm expecting issues, later.

The potential for this is great, but it would like to test it with as useable version. The link to the trial was not functional and the free version of this app is unusable. Ads are between every change of screen or function start and end.

Not found to be accurate! Constantly pushes paid version. Followed directions and used it to make (2) measurements for testing. Then I immediately measured the same distances. 1st actual distance was 5'7" - measurement with app said it was 7'9". 2nd actual distance was 10' exactly - measurement with the app said it was 9'7". The 2nd measurement was closer, but still not accurate, so I wouldn't trust it for anything critical. Nice idea, but app needs work.

The scourge of apps. You get a free trial of only 7 days, but you have to give credit card info before you can even try it. What happens after you buy the app? Another purchase to disable ads? Then another to unlock the remaining 90% of features that are still disabled after the first purchase? No thanks! I may have been born at night, but it wasn't last night.

It's a work in progress. Unfortunately I had to uninstall because the app has limited usefulness/functionality for me in it's current state. But it looks very promising, I can tell that the Dev has put some hard work into this, and so far its awesome. Just need to iron out a few issues and put a little more work in. Important things to improve: Add- Move points after placement Add- Edit plans manually anytime (not in AR) Improve- instructions/floor detection tips in-app

I love what this program does in concept, and find it very easy to use. Unfortunately, it crashes frequently, to the point of being unable to load a measurement taken earlier. I will revisit this in the future. OnePlus 7 Pro, Android 10.

70% ads and "BUY NOW" 30% useless trash Really nice idea, doesn't work at all. Insanely frustrating, especially with being stopped between every screen to beg you for cash, for something that clearly isn't working. The flag markers are off the moment I move or turn the phone at all, that is when they aren't flying off the screen into the deep abyss just from holding still. No way I could even begin to trust these measurements.

It's neither accurate nor consistent. I'm a carpenter, and compared this apps measurement to ones I took myself of several foundations. Each measurement I took with the app was inaccurate, and each time I tried to measure the same foundation, the app would give different measurements than it's previous attempts, being wrong in different ways each time. Good concept but not implemented well

Inaccurate and buggy. Measurements are +/- 5 inches from truth, and the inaccuracy adds up over the whole plan. Had bug where pressing undo button did nothing, then like 30 seconds later it starts to undo all my measurements.

Free version only allows length and width. Nagware, every click results in popup to buy full version or paid version of Dropbox. Paid version cost is too high for a minimal tool that will not be 100% accurate. I believe I will just stick with my trusty tape measure and know that is 100% accurate.

Works great for measuring floors. it gives u linear and square footage and a top-down floor plan with all the measurements. Vertical and 3D measurements are both locked behind a paywall and a pop-up to buy the pro version and get those features pops up enough to be a serious annoyance. I cannot say how well 3D works but it probably works just as well as the horizontal (surprisingly good). Just for reference I'm using a Moto z4

It has a lot of potential and possibly is pretty accurate but considering it is drastically limited in the trial mode it has way too many ads when you start, when you leave and every turn you make in the app. It may be worth the fee per year but i dont know if ill decide to find out.

wanted to try the free version first before buying the full app there was no way to try it without paying for subscription, bit the bullet and paid for 12 months, opened app, got 75% downloaded then crashed and kept doing it multiple times. waste of time and have now uninstalled it and want a refund and subscription cancelled

Needed to messure the distance between 2 trees to hang a dog trollie line up but my tape meassure was to short. Thought if only i had the lazer thing the road workers use. Decided to google it and low and behold. They actually had it and it works bettter then expected, seems to be correct calculations. Very satisfied. But if you plan on using it more then once or twice i suggest the paid version. Lot of adds.

Its ok if you dont have measuring tape or someone to help hold one. Design leaves a lot to be desired for anyone with a disability & cannot manuever around to drop the pin. Accuracy is dependent on you. Was hoping for this to be similar to Apple's technology.

Ale. Aug 30, 2020

Way too expensive for basic use. Free version is basically useless due to the intrusive ads. You can't take screen shots or export unless you pay for the year version. Was a good app but they definitely are trying to get the most money out of the app.

Jos. G. May 16, 2019

well the app seems to work. I don't agree with the fact that you have to pay a subscription to use it. I could not give this application anything more then one star. I could not test out the application thoroughly due to the aggressiveness of the subscription screen constantly popping up. the moment you ask for a credit card for a free trial there's a problem there why do you need information for a trial. if it's free you should not need a credit card.

very nice aap, but a bit high price

Kai. W. Jul 6, 2020

Only got to the title screen before the app prompted me to try it free for 7 days, then a subscription for a year. Was looking for a free app. This feels misleading. I'd have been fine with ad supported features or a premium option, but the app is inaccessible after the trial without paying.

Kat. m. Apr 21, 2020

It's a nightmare to use and I got 3 different readings! Not accurate enough and barely even useable. The app closed down twice too. You also have to pay to use the app for anything other than floor measurements and the amount of adds on it is crazy! Deleting. Sticking to my tape measure!

i tried this a while ago. As a toy it's cool (and pretty amazing), but it's too wildly inaccurate to be of any use in real life. Then recently (after i he'd forgot i had it installed) it started annoying me with random "tip of the day" push notifications every day. I know i can turn them off, but if an app developer has such little understanding of what a reasonable use for push notifications is, i don't want anything from them installed on my device.

Jus. W. Apr 17, 2019

Paid £9.99 for a monthly subscription but when I opened the app and it asked to move the phone left to right (to calibrate?) it wouldn't let me do anything else. Not worth any subscription if it's not going to work from the start. Tried to message cam to plan but got no answer. Unsubscribed. Disappointed!

ADA. M. Nov 18, 2019

Yes opened it and i was really excited and to find out that i had to agree to a 7 day free trial and then be charged and have to agree to $19.99 for a year and then when i tryed uninstalling it had problems need to have a free version u could use, then u have the choice to buy a month or e months or 6 or 1 year that wold be a good choice everyone would love this app and the choice and you would get more people using and buying it for sure good luck thank you for ur time and effort/hard work

uninstalled after 4 minutes. doesnt even give you time to try out the app before its throwing ads up to pay £24.99 a year ! theres adds everywhere from as soon as you've downloaded if you want customers to pay for your app then at least enable them to work the bloody thing out first to see of it's what they are after without asking for money every time you click a button on it !
