Canon Print Service

It connects to the printer, but won't print anything but picture files. Anytime I try to print a PDF or other type of document file, it either "prints" a blank page, or it prints SOOOO faint that it's useless. Am willing to change my review once this MAJOR bug gets fixed. And to be clear, the actual physical printer is awesome, but the app is broken.

Basically, it's usless! Every! Every time I use it, says the printer is not available or blocked. Then, after spending 20 to 30 minutes, or more, addressing that, the usual end is to reboot the printer, router or the phone, often all three. It's literally easier to email and print files from my laptop. 8 months later, I've reinstalled the app. Somehow they made it worse.(Imagine that!) Alone with printer errors, it's also blocking other computers from printing. Google should remove.

Made it possible for me to print from my Samsung Tab A and Galaxy S9 Android devices to our 7 year old Canon MG5420 printer. I haven't been able to do that since Google Cloud Print stopped working on it years ago. However, there are some issues. It is slow to recognize the printer on the network, even after it was just used. Also, it does not allow duplex printing (greyed out) even though the printer has that capability. Fix those issues and I will add a 4th star to my review.

I don't have much experience with this app yet, and will update when I do. However, I've seen several of you complaining about not having an icon on your home screen, etc. To access this application, you have to go into your settings, connections, more connections, printing. This plugin is listed under the printer settings. After clicking it, it will search for the printer installed on whatever wifi network you're connected to. Come on people. Computers for dummies may help some of you out.

Yeah, it's a decent software, but it has it's fair share of problems that I could notice from a first try. For starters, using a PIXMA G3400 printer, it's a bit slower compared to when I print from a computer, also, when printing from Drive it does not allow documents to be printed 2 sided which is a deal breaker for me. In rest, I don't think there are any other issues.

This is a good app however there is still a bug that appeared in the October update. Everything was fine until that time. Turns out that on some Canon machines despite correct settings, when you print directly from a webpage, you get a shrunken landscape image in the top right hand corner even though the settings are clearly on portrait. Both on the app and also the machine. If they fix it. Then happy days.

Not "quick and easy" or functional... Installed the app. Upon opening the app, a static instructional page is displayed telling me to print from outside the app. Moving on to print a document, I select the canon option that now appears from the list of printers and get a nearly blank screen asking for the printer's IP address (unable to be detected itself from it's WiFi function) Searching Canon's troubleshooting page, I end up printing out a configuration page from the printer's menu, and I type in the IP address from a sheet of paper. The confirmation button stays greyed out. My only option is to cancel and delete the app. Because apparently it's just a waste of time.

Totally useless now. Used to work well but now although it says it's installed the app isn't on my phone and it won't detect or connect to my MG6460 wireless printer even though there's nothing wrong with the printer and I can print fine wirelessly from my PC. As observed by another reviewer it is also incredibly frustrating that there are obviously many users affected by this same issue but you aren't replying to any of us with an explanation or ETA for a fix. Really, REALLY poor service.😠

Worst printer app. Very unreliable. Everytime I want to print something it says my printer is not available. 90% of the time it doesn't work. Makes my printer useless. Very frustrating. Not the first time Canon apps have disappointed me. Had the same problem with their camera app. I'll be thinking twice before buying another Canon product. Even if it's a good deal.

It's ok, unless you need to print in duplex. Canon has consistently NOT enabled 2-sided printing in the app for PIXMA printers. Additionally, the advertised product info (for the MX922) is misleading when it comes to this feature. Customer support only says "it doesn't look like it's enabled". No kidding. Get with it, Canon.

The app works, barely. Sometimes my phone says it doesn't detect a printer, sometimes it does. The app doesn't have the same print options their desktop driver. I can't choose a custom paper size or adjust brightness, contrast, or color intensity. When printing from my phone, my printer behaves strangely - stopping in the middle of a job, momentarily, before continuing to print. This app feels like it was carelessly rushed.

This app used to work from my android phone. Since last october it has never been able to find my printer. No problem with wireless network from my laptop to Cannon MX492 printer! I've tried everything but this app just cannot find the printer. The item I am trying to print is shown as ready to save as a PDF but why that? I just need an printed copy! Extremely unnecessary grappling with a product defect. I have to move on from this thing that used to work and now is defunct.

Easy to use with a simple interface of basic printing commands, allowing for various paper sizes and single or double sided options to optimize output. The app runs behind the scenes on my phone without adding an actual app icon to my menu, which at first confused me and I now see as a helpful feature since I can choose to print directly from the source of what I am trying to print (i.e. website, document, screen).

Continue to have issues printing double sided pages!!! We need double sided print option in this app. I can do it from my laptop and PC, but not from my phone. This is needed or it's time for a different printer. I can print double sided on our HP Laser Jet Pro!!! So get this option on the Canon Printer App!!

I just had to uninstall and reinstall this app. Still haven't tried to see if it works, but God I hope it does. I do nothing but fight with the printer. Every. Single. Time. I don't understand why it constantly shows errors. The paper is out, but it isn't. The ink is out, but it isn't. The tray isn't out, unable to communicate, printer not available, blah blah blah. It takes hours to make one print and I want to smash it every time. If this reinstall doesn't work, I'm changing apps entirely

Printer has continuous network connection problems. Will not connect on DC. Have to fiddle with printer for 30 mins and put it onto Wi-Fi and then change it back to DC without going through other menus. It is basically unusable and has caused hours of frustration. This is a useless app and Canon have not been able to get their connections to devices to a smooth and seamless experience. Very poor.

This app is the worst. I would give it zero stars if I could. I have 2 pages I need to print out and it will only print out the second one. Even that took awhile to do. I've been sitting here for about 20 minutes trying to print out the first page and it will only print half of the page and stop. I was using this app on my tablet and then it stopped working all of a sudden and wont start up again and work. Now nothing will connect with my Canon printer even if I use the cord. Useless.

Doesn't work. Keeps saying can't communicate with the printer (MF264dw). This printer has given me problems ever since I got it on win11. I started it wireless but it never came out of energy saving mode unless I turned the printer off and on. So I took it to the office for USB. But that doesn't work either. I even updated the driver's from Canon. The thing is just junk.

Now, so..so I used this app for about a year or so, not really sure. But, now it has come to have bugs and not work. I think its time to dump canon and find something more reliable. I need to know I can print and not waste time with unexplained errors. I do t have time to research through canons entire line up of products EVERY time there app has a glitch. Disappointed in what use to be a great app! For the drastic decline in reliability and performance I have yo leave a 1 star as I scramble.

Canon recently broke printing for many of their printers, by ending support for this plug in and requiring the Business print app. There is no way to set that as default print service, so you have to hope you can download as a pdf or similar and then open the app to print. I regretted getting the MF4700 several years ago as it has always had terrible UI/UX, and this just latest bone headed move point confirms that I will never buy another Canon printer.

Absolutely awful, regret buying. Cannot connect the printer manually to a tablet or phone like with a computer (i have an adapter), app doesnt work, and it doesnt print wirelessly. Its useless now that my computer broke. If i get it to connect wirelessly, its with a different IP address than the one it prints out, but then it wont print anything. Error, print failed. Why you cant just plug it in and print from it on a tablet is beyond me. Poor design, confusing for mobile, and frustrating.

Trash, the developers need to be fired. Seems like you wouldn't have trouble doing something simple like printing in black and white instead of color, wrong. Can't be done from the app. Don't know if it's incompetence or they do that on purpose to make you buy more color ink cartridges, but I now HATE Canon and will never buy another Canon printer.

"Printer not available" - not true. It's on, I'm standing right next to it, verified it's connected to Wifi. This app stinks. I wish I could get the time back that I've spent trying to get documents to print.

Was happy till the duplex printing option became greyed out. I can print duplex templates from the printer, but not from my pixel 6. . . Not sure why that's a factor. Laptop is good for duplex. . . .? Hope someone will reach out to assist

I will never buy Canon again. MX490 printer constantly won't connect even though phone/laptop side by side. You've got to unplug the printer if you stop using it for more than 20 mins and let it restart. And it eats ink, of course. The controls are very poorly thought out, as if it was last-minute programmers pushing to get it out the door. The screen is very hard to read. The controls are NOT intuitive at all. Going back to HP again.

I have owned and used a Selphy for years. Never a problem until the upgrade of an EE upgrade modeSince then unable to print from iPhones and tablets. Only hard wire link to an old laptop will print. I read in an update publication the this was now normal and printing from non hard wire links is likely to be via Mobile Data. I have downloaded instruction to convert back to wireless link an they have failed showing that a printer cannot be found despite in the background a picture of the Selphy .

This is not for serious legal documents or contracts. I am buying a house and the paperwork keeps getting messed up while printing. The preview on my tablet shows everything fine but when it prints words overlap, words on the edge are cut off, and the spacing of words is altered compared to the preview. I've realigned the print heads, adjusted the horizontal setting, and made sure I have the correct paper selected. Nothing has helped.

Bring back old app. Used to be able to choose between black or colour now I cannot do this. The app over rides all my other programs and constantly open even when I dont want to print. The other app was really user friendly this is not. 😩😩

Negative 1000 rating!! Was a great printer and the app changed and can no longer print from my phone! See the next 2 complaints from others below to see what my problems are. Same as theirs. Now I have a worthless printer that no longer works unless they fix this app!! Have to give a star to post this otherwise it would be no stars.

Works well for me. OnePlus 6 Android 9. I configured my LAN to fix the address DHCP assigns to the printer. Found it first time and every time. Using Android system print service. Basic options available like colour/bw, 1/2 sided, paper size. Options are not remembered, dropping one star for that. Good for casual printing, for serious printing and all the options use Windows PC.
