App can be hard to close. App will start playing on its own, while in background. Sometimes when trying to play content, nothing happens with no response at all... No pending action indicator, no error messages.
It works well enough but I am irritated that it hogs my default screen when the phone is idle and the screen locked. I don't like bullying behaviour by applications, and there seems to be no way to disable this.
A very busy app with so much going on that it's hard to find anything. And too many ads. I will keep looking for another public station app that is more user friendly.
The opening "brought to you by" comment is constantly breaking in disrupting the stream. I no longer use it. I have to download a fresh ap frequently as the opening ad continues to interrupt. 5/12/22
Station puts ads right in the middle of stories instead at the end or beginning. This can cause you to miss part of the story. App stops all by itself for no known reason. Most upsetting. When you turn off the app, some times it starts up all by itself. You turn it off again and while your phone is still in your hand the app starts playing again all on its own. These phone radio apps are a far cry from a real radio broadcast. Very 😭
Faithfully connect when I request and that good good listenable signal and get to enjoy capradio even when I'm in San Diego or on the highway between parts of California
My home station for 35 years. Keeps me updated on local and state news, even after I moved away. That said of the radio station, the app is problematic, in that it frequently interrupts the "broadcast" to update the station interface. I assume the problem is actually with the way the station designed it's user interface, and that this problem isn't inherent in the app itself. When the app "burps" so much the story loses continuity, I switch to another public radio station and its app
Its good when it works. Not sure if its my phone or the app that has the issue since I don'thave the latest most expensive thing on the market. It stops intermittently (could be a signal issue) in the middle of a broadcast, disappears entirely in the middle of a broadcast, etc. Because I like the content it becomes an inconvenience, but as I stated earlier there could be a number of reasons for this.
loving this app. we use the classical and jazz options. easy to play throughout our home via Android casting! Periodic announcements are rare, but always at a suitable volume, so as not to be jarring or annoying (thank you!). great variety of content, too. Planning to begin using it on the road via Android Auto in our Chevy Bolt EV, too ;-) My only issue is that it would really be nice to have a (possibly configurable) "now playing" info show up on the screen or in a persisrent notification.
Extremely frustrating app. Programming regularly gets interrupted by obnoxious ads. If the ads only paused the programming, it would not be so bad, but instead the ads prevent key parts of programming from ever being heard. Not sure why anyone would ever want to hear 20 minutes of a story, then miss 3 minutes then hear the last 3 minutes. Even worse, the ads they play are repeats so you might hear the same obnoxious ad 20 times, Lack of continuity is so frustrating that I have completely stopped listening to NPR, except in the car.
Eather the APP is much better since the review below or I have gotten used to it ...works fine. Station programming is great! Finding the button to play the live stream isn't intuitive - you have to go through the PLAYLIST button to get a screen that has a "play live" button. The app will give you about 15 minutes of play, then shuts off and you will have to find the live stream button again. Don't they have any smart people in Sac?
Better than before. They fixed the part where used to play ads 3/4 of the time. Now, it does stop playing about every half hour. When I start it up again, it generally plays the station ID, then "we get support from . . ." Which would be fine, if it did not stop, and skip part of the program.
This app has terrible organization. It is very difficult to look at also.
Easy to use. Don't have to search hither to find play button.
The play button isn't working Bad timing while membership drive going on
Great app! Everything appears to be working great again. The podcast feature is especially nice when you sleep in and really want to hear Morning Edition. Stability and battery issues appear to be a thing of the past. Minus a star for no Chromecast.
Can't exit it. And then, weirdly, after you use it you can play one song on car radio and then this app takes over. Not sure if that's an Android Auto issue or problem with the app, but the app was still there on my lock screen. Only way I could kill it was uninstall.
Terrible -- app is inconsistent and failing, have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, app still is no good ( starts and stops many times) for past two months. Reported to Capradio. Heard nothing recently.
Not stable. Ramdomly disconnects.
Excellent source of local news. Sometimes when article notifications appear, I'll click on it because it seems interesting but it will just link me to the home page. That's the only feedback I have which would probably be an easy UX fix.
Good app. Reliable uptime. Some resources they mention on air to find on the app, I can't find on the app. Like chronological/most recent fire updates. Perhaps I need to look harder. Just not super intuitive to me. But I love the station and their reporting overall.
Love the station but it is perpetually cutting out then restarting with the NPR intro. The app itself is hard to navigate because it's multi-layered and there are multiple places to start or stop listening to a section.
Does exactly what it needs to with hardly a hitch. Love CapRadio, and this is CapRadio on my phone instead of the, well, radio. App works just dandy. It's CapRadio on the go! What more could you want from their app? You already know if you want it
I find myself using this app more and more as I get comfortable with it;I use it generally for the playlists before (and still do!).but now also easily during pledge-drive, during other programming times, for album/CD info, events, etc. It's a very useful and informative web site. I enjoy using it and gleaning what it has to offer. *2020 update; I still use this app and have been venturing out to use it more fully. It's a great resource! Go to it often*2021 used it to stream. Easy!*2022-same!
