Great app, very helpful for a type 1 diabetic. The only reason I would give a full 5 is because I don't think it's fair to pay if you have a chronic disease where carb counting is an absolute must. This app is the most accurate one I've used and its so helpful but I'm just a bit bummed you have to pay 😔 when I already purchased the full version on my older phone which broke.
Owned the old version, there is an option to click if you've purched before, but it never loads - loading circle just keeps going round forever. Free version is completely useless, seems to only have the info for a tiny range of foods (none of which you actually eat of course) and most of the information is inaccessible.
It's alright. Shame a lot of this is locked behind a paywall. I would prefer 1 time payment. For people who are stuck "Please wait, downloading database", disable "Ad-away" or any ad blocking method temporarily and it will load.
Please add option to select multiple items. For example when selecting items from restaurant you can only select one and then have to go back through the menu for each item.
I brought this as I'm diabetic and need to calculate carb but it has updated and to get access to all the foods they want you to pay a monthly prescription. not very good as you already pay for the app.
I have already paid for the app and if i want extra features or access to more foods i have to pay a subscription. Not happy about that.
This app has gone from a comprehensive free one to a very limited free service with even basic food and ingredients information charged for. These locked items and the fat/fibre content etc are inconsistent even with an individual food item or group. There also seems to be an unhealthy inclusion of a large number of fast food retailers products. The cost of the app which is used by those who most need it is too costly. Someone is getting greedy.
Not fit for purpose! I've used the original app for years and , although it could have done with several improvements , it at least had a very good range of foods . I've just paid for this 'update' and far from impressed. There's basically very little food information. No supermarket foods or ready meals either. If it was free , I'd just be disappointed, but considering this app costs a lot of money, I'm angry! Poor market research. Why were no diabetics consulted when creating this new app?
Does not help me now. I used the old version for years and it was great. Got a new phone and could only get this version. Rubbish now. I loved the insulin calculator aspect as it really helped. Had all my foods and meals in it and its all gone. Really disappointed.
As a type 1 diabetic I think its an amazing app however I don't think it's good that I am limited to information I need on a daily basis which I have to pay £7 a month for instead of a one time payment.
it's very good for counting my carbs which is what I need when trying to work out how much insulin I need to take, it's quick, and easy to use as most foods are on the app
They offer you the free app with limited foods what's the point if you can only add some of your daily diet most of the foods are locked you have to buy full version for it to be any use to anybody
Can't even log in. I've selected the "Already purchased" option which does nothing. I've paid for this app on iOS and Android before the "new management" decided to change the revenue model for the app and rush out something that doesn't work. I'm diabetic and rely on this app for carb counting as it's recommended by the NHS (the previous version was - don't think this would be). Now I can't use it. I had access to all foods, now I guess I won't. Great.
Be extremely careful. Charges you for the entire year after 14 days, and absolutely no refunds. Extremely difficult to cancel subscription, you cannot cancel in app, or on their website. I could only cancel through Google, and j sincerely hope it has been cancelled. $70 gone
I have just started using the app, so will see how it goes. So far not too impressed: very few chain shops (Waitrose, Tesco) and cafes items. £35 a year for an app can be totally worth it or a ripoff. I understand that it is feasible to have subscription model because of the need to constantly update food information. So the question is how up to date is this information. I am specifically interested in mainstream cafés and chain shops. I wonder if crowd-sourcing this data would work
I purchased the app and book a few years ago and used it practically every day when carb counting for my diabetes. The new app isn't as good and I will have to pay £35 to use it. When my subscription ends I won't be renewing it. It only got one star because I had to put something to post the review
Great for someone who is type 1 diabetic. working out the carbs makes life easier when using this app.
Paid for the app..as my son had Type 1 diabetes...since its been updated most of the items are locked and you need to pay for the upgrade.
Much better but still short on variety of foods. Alittle annoyed at the annual cost which seems exorbitant for an app that only cost around £3.00 to buy!
I tried the free version before paying. Not impressed. Many of the foods I eat are not there and it seems very American and fast food oriented. A complete waste of time.
the developer was very helpful and sorted access for me very quickly.
It's a total rip off , it doesn't allow you to use the free app ,I have purchased the books this is just a total waste of time , please don't bother with this it's a waste of time .
I purchased this app several years ago as it was invaluable for the management of my diabetes, it was really useful. They now want me to pay more to get even basic food info. Just google stuff, it is easier.
Have used this app for many years. Last week it was 'upgraded' with no choice or warning. The upgrade has changed an app that was simple and easy to use to one that is now more complicated, takes more time to get to the end result, and has a level of frustration beyond irritating. I cannot see me extending my usage beyond the free trial and I will probably not even last that long. Such a shame that a useful, vital and helpful app is now the complete opposite.
the free version of the app is difficult due to locked information. it's illogical in what is locked or open to add to meals. an example is food portions at different weights are locked so you have to double up or divide down on those that are free to view. it's a pointless complication that hinders the user from getting a result from the app.The pictures are good to show portion size.
