Absolutely love this. Brings back many happy memories from the release of the original. I see a lot of complaints because people don't know the controls: Double tap your car icon to repair. Tap the top middle race timer to open up the menu and be able to recover your car if you're overturned. The only thing I can't work is how to see the map. On the original you could see your opponents and with the correct powerup, all the Peds too. Great job guys 😁👍
I'm only into the 2nd race. I'm impressed with how well this recreates the original game. I'm not much of an gamer using androids, so the steering is difficult to control. One thing that I would like, which I believe was done away with in Carmageddon: Reincarnation, is the ability to change views. I always preferred the cockpit view. Other than that, if you liked the original, this should be good for killing some time... or pedestrians.
Not bad at all, but could improve. Just for reference, I have not played the original, but I can see that it remains very true to its counterpart. The car though turns like its on ice. One of the victory conditions is killing all the people in the stage; its fun for a few minutes, but it takes very long and gets repetitive (516 people in the first level alone). For what its worth, there are no ads that I encountered, the gameplay is interesting (besides the people objective), and its quite fun.
Full version and still features intrusive ads, for shame. Additionally, it would be great if the game could be installed on the external SD card (like any other game) instead of cluttering the already saturated built-in storage. These two major drawbacks are what is keeping me from giving full 5 stars for what is otherwise an excellent port of a PC classic.
A perfect port of the classic pc game. Feels just like the original game. Controls are fluid and intuitive, gameplay is fun, and the graphics are just like the original game. A bit on the repetitive side but thats Carmageddon for you and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm just really glad this game is on mobile tbh. Also I should mentions that no ads get in your way at all and nothing interrupts your game time.
Loved this game when it first came out in the 90s. I own every version. Even the crappy N64 and GameBoy Color ones. This is a very good port from the original PC version. 6 out of 5 stars in my book. The controls are the exact same too. So, you can't go full throttle everywhere. You have to feather it. Yes, there's better steering/controlling games out there, but this is the original demolition, carnage, and banned game in most countries. Love it.
Good throwback to the olden days. If the developers are reading this - PLEASE consider adding an option to 'cancel' the rear view (or just remove it altogether). When I back up to gain some speed for ramming another car, I completely lose all overview. I've never once thought 'nice, good thing I had that rear view'. Even if it means that in 1/50 times I'll back into the ocean or whatever, it'll still be worth it to cancel that damn rear view. Otherwise, thanks for a cool game.
Can't believe I stumbled across this! I haven't been able to play this on my PC in years and I really missed it. It seems to be as close to the original game as an app can get. Controls are a little funky on a tablet, but not too terrible. I have about a dozen races in so far with no problems or app crashes to this point. Thank you for making this available! UPDATE: I have managed to complete all 3 difficulty levels now and am still loving It! Thank you!
Other comments ive read: it seems the controls are bad, and its a repetitive game... The controls - you can get used to them imo... But I think the problem here is that ppl who havent played the original back then - they cannot really connect with this one, and i can understand why: its different in many ways. Yes, it can be repetitive, but its a real gem to have. I also get bored after 1-3 races, but i always come back for more carnage whenever i have to wait (plane, waiting rooms, etc)
I'm caught between the ppl who say it's unplayable and those who love it here. True, the controls are confounding, and the game incredibly difficult. But it's fun for a "race " or two, but now not as funny as it would have been in the 90s. The prospect of levelling up promises a more satisfying game if I stick with it. Hopefully. The graphics themselves look like a PlayStation game. Can't complain about that. $1.59 total for almost every car in the game. Can't complain about that either.
An amazing blast to the past. The only thing wrong is the handling, but it supposed to be that way because this ain't your average racing game. The graphics are dated but its supposed to be like that since its an old game. Its really good, only the controls need to be resized but it dont let me. Pretty much perfect game.
For a game that is almost ten years old, and supposedly unsupported on newer phones, it runs great! It is basically the original game with slight tweaks in gameplay for optimization (or less rage inducing with one particular car), but I do agree that it can get repetitive and tedious when playing for long stretches at a time. Either way, it is a great port of an old classic that also uses minimal data.
I've never played the original before, but I've seen it on YT and damn, I'm glad to be able to play it on mobile. This is Gta BEFORE Gta. The maps are surprisingly large and bonkers with an abundances of peds to kill. The game is also very generous in giving in-game currency that doesn't force IAP or grinding. There's only one major critique that I want to discuss, and it is the controls. Honestly, it's bloody horrible. The buttons are too small that it's easy for your fingers to miss the area.
It's a great classic games but with a few minor issues that if taken care of, can be a massive difference such as, the first one being the obvious optimization for more phones. Secondly, more options to customize the controls i.e. resize them and etc, custom their opacity. Thirdly (this is optional) perhaps allowing the players to have freedom over the camera so that this game can feel more modern. But overall, recommended if you just want to have an insane casual racing experience
Truly a masterpiece of a game, enjoyable again in all its glory, 20 some odd years later thanks to this port. A must have for any gamer, if not just for the historical significance of it. Would love to be able to run a true fullscreen when using smart screen in order to throw on the mega screens around! Will be on the lookout for more of yours for sure!
I give it 4 out of 5 because it's true to the original, the graphics are superb, the opponents are better, but the car is undriveable. It's good for reminiscing but not for playing unless they fix the controls - they should add a keyboard control option. Options that allow to set viewing position (height especially) should also be added.
Awesome experience, great job of bringing a classic game to our fingertips with great updates but nothing changing the classic gameplay and visuals. The only thing keeping this rating from being a 5 is the controls (the break, acceleration and stearing) are very small and there is no option to edit the size of them. Otherwise great game!
Warning! 1990's game! But boy, what a game! I started playing this in 1998 with the green blood zombie version from the UK. And I've loved this (and Carma2) since then. I really appreciate how this port is basically just like the original game with no annoying "updates", same old graphics I love and olden style controls... Love it.
This game seriously needs controller support. The touch screen is very limiting. Sharp turns and accurate driving is a stress inducer. It just slows things down without quality control. Easy mode is forgiving on the touch pad. Normal? Not so much. Hard? Forget it. I better see this game have full controller support.
Only played 2 levels yet, but is great. Really feels like old times! Is there any way to show the map during a race? << Found it. Didn't see the instruction at the start.. perhaps is should be a bit more obvious. Still loving the game after playing a lot more!
Its really really fun and definitely my type of game. My only issue is with the controls, which are too small, making it a little difficult to steer and stuff and there isnt an option to change the size of the pedals. Other than that, this game freaking rules!!
This is a port of the first Carmageddon game for Windows 95 which was launched in 1997 and it is very well done. Too bad it hasn't been updated since 2017, though. Because the steering buttons are too small, the gas and brake pedals are quite close together and there isn't an indication as to where the in-game Menu button is or how to repair your car on the go. Those issues with an update can be fixed.
Absolutely love the game, for some the driving physics can be a bit annoying but I love it as cars tend to oversteer pretty easily & I love to drift. Though I just encountered a bug while playing today that my driver's screen wasn't appearing during races. It reappeared again only when I upgraded my driver's car.
There are apparently no ads anymore, but there's no DLC for sale either anymore. Excellent game. Would like a cabin view and the ability to tilt the screen to steer. Doesn't honor screen rotation, you must twist your phone in one victim only for landscape viewing. Map mode pixels are sometimes too small on phone to see all the pedestrians. Would like peds to blink yellow. Had to screenshot and zoom to find them..
A good transformation from the original. It's all there, only diffs I've found: an order to unlocking vehicles and no free cam- These are non essential. The game mechanics are exactly as I remember, clunky but powerful. collision weight feels potent and get some mad air collisions. Spent many years playing this before and really enjoying it today. It's still got that hard race difficulty, catching a low graphics splint (which were prime in its day), sending you spiraling into the police.loveit
The game has been great for years. However I tried to run it on my S22 Ultra and there are graphical issues. The car models are extremely lighted and they appear blindingly white. It happens to some of the buildings, too. I guess it is related to the Xclipse GPU, I have always played it on Adreno. So the game os unplayable for me and I guess the devs have now stopped any updates on it so no hope of seeing this issue fixed.
