Carnet - Notes app

Serious great app and works with owncloud servers as well. I really consider to switch from Keep to this one in the future, but currently a few things prevent me from doing so: 1) list view not available 2) dragging a note to a desired position in the list does not work 3) (nothing serious) pasting a note into a Subfolder requires to use the menu. Uncomfortable. There is so much space left of "New folder" and "new note", why not making a "paste" button, that appears, if a note is in the clipboard

Installed as a replacement for Google Keep. I connected it to my Nextcloud instance. Needs some polishing, but overall it's a worthy replacement, if not better than Keep. It works OK, but I had some sync issues. When I make changes to a note in the Nextcloud app, the mobile app just overrides them on next sync. So far, I've noticed this with ticking and unticking boxes and adding new tasks in a TODO note, didn't try with a normal note.

Software error leads to deletion of content of notes. They are just overwritten without undo. Happened around a server side update. So or so if I can lose my content on a click and can restore it then the app is useless. But liked it otherwise. Yes, it disappeared. I could restore it because I had it open in the browser. Edit and saved it there. Problem appeard with all check lists. If I open in app, notes are empty. Happens in the app only, not browser. also only after update of nextcloud app.

Like it and use it but it has problems that need fixing. Reading so much about crashing one would think the developers do something but last update was on March! Is it abandoned? Crashing happens when sync directly to nextcloud. 8f sync thru NC app is done, all works fine. Also, pinned notes don't show on top. What is pinning a note good for then! Would be nice if fixes are coming!

Key words are also extremely buggy. And I have a pretty regular problem where data is lost or changed after a sync. For example keywords get removed from notes. Some notes have been deleted by adding keywords to other notes. Changing between browser app and mobile app too quickly also causes data loss or duplication. The app is so close to being good but design decisions, poor implementation of features and data loss make this app unusable.

I downloaded this app because it is supposed to be able to sync with nextcloud. Other than that feature its a pretty mediocre note app. It worked fine for a week or so but started crashing every time I open a note. I tolerated it for a while and sent feedback and continued to use it. After a while it got to the point I couldn't use it at all anymore and I've not recieved any feedback from the devs.

The app is okay, though there are important features that are missing like undo/redo, archive folder and trash folder/permission to delete notes (for recovering notes or to avoid accidentally deleting notes). It would also be nice too if we could use the format features in the checklist and also can add subtasks in it. I would also rather wait for a windows app and google drive sync (and hopefully an encrypted back-up with it) before I move my notes cause nextcloud is a bit confusing for me.

I have to say that I've been looking for a way to ditch Google Keep and this app is fast becoming a serious contender for Nextcloud users. Features I'd like to see on the Android app are: When a URL is entered in a note that the Carnet browser shows a preview just like in Google Keep. Also allow the URL to be clicked on in the Carnet browser and open that link in a browser like Firefox. This would make me give it 5 stars. Give the Carnet browser the ability to allow the user the sort the order of display of the notes in android app by dragging them around just like in Keep. One thing I did notice although I've not tested the Linux app but on Android and browser I cannot change the base notes directory but it's not a massive problem. I definitely recommend this app and will be making a donation to support the developers fantastic work.

It's a good app, my only real complaint is when the goddamn screen while you type and jumps all over the place with each letter. If there's a way to fix that, a suggestion would be great. Also (to the creator/creators) is there a PC version of this?

Very useful. All of our household notes (groceries, to do lists, gifts ideas, etc.) are stored in one place and are accessible by all wherever we are. Plus we can update a list while on the go and synchronize when we get WiFi back. love it!

I'm on Android 9 and the app crashes when trying to move notes around between folders. Keyword management is lacking. I'll revisit in a few months, hopefully it will get better.

Hope you enjoy data loss! Opened a note on both computer and phone and when I closed them out, the file was overwritten to be blank. Tons of "conflict" reports in notification bar but no obvious way to resolve them.

generally speaking a nice tool. However, it is a no-go that when you sync it to a nextcloud instance, it automatically overwrites the data on the server without warning.

Install : - setup and connection with my nextcloud - all notes I made started to sync with nextcloud and all were conflicted - all notifications stayed on notification page without a way to remove them - camera doesn't work from browser page Reinstall: - notes downloaded from Nextcloud automatically - camera still doesn't work from browser page - used camera to create a note, picture taken, note renamed, after exit picture, note title and text gone, blank note - uploading, conflicted...

This is almost as good as Google Keep. Only feature lacking is the canvas. It would be nice to have canvas in all Android, Linux and Nextcloud versions of the app. There are many Chromebooks where writing on canvas has become available

A very feasible self-hosted Google Keep alternative if you have a Nextcloud instance running. Although it isn't nearly as perfect or stable as Keep, it makes up for it in richer text formatting and the use of folders

Gonna be a Keep killa app. I get enriched formatting of notes including the attachment of images and audio clips to the note. This app is just getting started, it's going to be a big freaking deal.

We use ownCloud in our organization and have the Carnet App enabled. However, the mobile app doesn't appear that it will authenticate with our ownCloud server. We run the Enterprise version 10.8. Any thoughts I why it won't authenticate? I was able to install the next cloud app, authenticate to my ownCloud server, then synchronize carnet via the app. I would rather not use the Nextcloud app. Please let me know

Really glad to see someone is working on a NextCloud alternative to Google Keep! While it's not quite as intuitive or well polished just yet it works and covers most of the essentials. Please keep up the good work!

Very very nice. Would be good to have a check box list for a simple "to do" or 'to get' list. My enpass app keeps closing when editing a note in Carnet

This is exaxtly what I was looking for google keep substitute. Private and open sourced. A bit slow in performance (could be becsuse of my private server speed), but that is not a major turn off.

The most annoying note app! From 5 star to 1 star. I lost all my notes. This app has some serious bugs. Sorry I have deleted the app now. I have held onto this app more than I should. I let go of this problem several times until I couldn't bear with this problem.

Settings page needs to be dark in dark theme. Saw your github response that you intend for it to be white as that's what you use. Doesn't make sense. If done correctly people can access it no matter if it's dark or white. Plenty of apps are able to do this. Feature request: add sketch/drawing similar to Google Keep. Another open source app Omni Notes has it, maybe you can get inspiration from it.

I couldn't believe how quick & easy it was to connect to my server via the Nextcloud app & my existing credentials. And it's a very competent notes app, too. If only there was a Windows app...

This works well for me with Nextcloud. Basic features work as expected. The user interface is functional, but a little basic. I'm sure it will improve in time. Great work!

want to give it five stars because I really like it on desktop (was actually trying to make something very similar myself before finding Carnet). however after putting my information in to login to my server the app crashes and whenever I open it it just crashes again
