Being able to see events happening on the ship, ship maps, restaurant menus, are all super helpful. Being able to see wait times for restaurants and join the waitlist so you don't have to stand around in the hallways waiting for a table to open up is really nice. Chat function is VERY buggy. One kid wasn't able to get his working at all until the third day of the cruise, so we had to waste a lot of time walking all over looking for each other. Then it flaked out several times for various members of our party at various times. This would be a really great feature if it worked consistently, especially since you have to pay for it. A feature I'd love to see added is having announcements show up in the app; these were usually the cruise director reminding us about shows and whatnot, so not usually critical information, but we couldn't hear them at all inside our cabin. Having a brief text summary pop up in the app would be useful.
The app is helpful, but it could be a bit more intuitive and informative. Adding bar menus would be great, and adding the post-cruise survey here would potentially give you more responses. Allowing you to provide feedback on experiences and crew members while on board the ship would highlight exceptional service and allow Carnival to make improvements in real time. It's not easy to remember the names of all the wonderful crew members after you've left the ship, and they deserve to be recognized.
It's not perfect but the app works well. I wish that I could see the cruise schedule and pre plan activities before the actual cruise. It also tends to send out a lot of useless notifications when I'm onboard.
We bought the chat app and we found it somewhat helpful since there were 5 in our party to communicate with onboard. However more often than not the wifi service was down and/or spotty at best the communication onboatd was not smooth. Also it always showed the 1st msg ever sent not the most recent msg which was incoveinent because we had to go into every chat to make sure we didnt miss 1. The red dot was not the best or most accurate indicator of new chats.
Connectivity needs some work but overall it was pretty solid! Love being able to favorite things I want to do and have it remind you when the time is near. Definitely enhanced my cruise experience!
I recommend everyone cruising with Carnival to download the Hub app. I loved the "Planner" option, which allows your party to know which events you are interested in attending. It also notifies you when the event time is approaching. The chat function was also very convenient and worth the $5. It allows you to keep up with the others you're cruising with. The dining room menu is easily accessible too!
The app was very useful. My only complaint was the weather feature never updated. It always said 32 degrees!!!! It would have been nice to know the weather daily.
Great for keeping you informed with what's going on and where. Always have the dinner menu handy and can make reservations to eat with the push of a bottom. The app works well on board
The app has a built in messaging feature so you can message others on the ship. It's a great idea, but the app can be buggy. Sometimes messages don't go through or it says you're not connected. This after you've paid to use the messaging feature. On the bright side, the app let's you see the ship's activity schedule, and even heart activities to put on your schedule, and you can see menus at the restaurants. Great idea but a little buggy on messaging that you pay extra for.
The app works great for viewing the ship schedule, map, and excursions! My only issue was using the built-in messaging; After subscribing to the service, I was able to send messages, but it was buggy such that the conversation list would not ever update. I still got proper notifications and could see the messages once I opened the chat, but looking at the message list was confusing since it didn't show any recent messages.
The itenerary features are great. However, the chat feature really needs some work (which is the most important part of the app). Sent messages don't show in the queue for several minutes after sending. Also, notifications aren't consistent with received messages, and sometimes new messages aren't being received in a timely manner.
This App only works on the cruise ship after it has left the dock. I use the word "works" lightly as it leaves much to be desired interactively. The best part of the app is having the cruise ship's itinerary at your fingertips, but as for the group chat ($5 per person) leaves a lot to be desired as it works a little over half the time and usually doesn't tell you the time a person send a message (within 2-4hrs) and does not make a sound. You constantly have to check the app to stay connected.
Very handy for planning, and reminders. Also handy for planning where and what you want to eat. Didn't initially think I would like it, being older. I can't rate certain things such as communicating with others though. In some cases more thorough descriptions might be nice.
Slow internet on the cruise and very expensive. Difficult to even load a simple Google search no matter what device I use. 5 dollars to text through the app even if you bought the internet package. For almost 100$ Snapchat should at least connect fast enough to login....
It was very helpful for knowing what was happening/events going on & how to get around boat. But it kept mixing up the days in the What's Happening section. For example, it would say Today, Day at Sea even though today was actually port day. If you didn't pay attention & make sure to click on the right day you would be planning your day based on wrong events.
I used the app while on the ship. We had a group of people. When I received a message, I had to open each one until I got to a new message. There should be an indicator on that particular msg. Also, you can't edit the name. My government name was being used. And that is not what the group knew me as.
The app is awesome when it comes to events and letting you know what's coming up and making dinner reservations. When it comes to the chat feature I would give it one star. The only message displayed is the very first message you send. Even after you open the app the first message is the only one displayed. Truth be told that feature should be free. Especially how lousy it works. And even if they perfect it should be free.
Pretty good app. The Chat feature ($5.00 per person, per voyage) was fine, but kept dropping out limiting its use. I did like having the ship maps at hand, which made navigating around the ship a breeze. My Time dining check in was effortless and effective to avoid queues at the dining room.
This app worked well for the most part. There were a few oopsies, but it worked for the most part and was more useful than the royal Caribbean version of this app. One oopsie was I had to have help to make a bolt reservation from the attendant which wasn't too bad as that went fast. It also started to say "not connected to wi-fi" about 4 days into my 7 day cruise which made the final 3 days a little harder as I couldn't use the message feature to talk with the people I was cruising with.
It was hit or miss with the chat feature. You have to pay 5 dollars to use the chat feature in the app and it doesn't always work. It would say you're connected to the onboard wifi in the other parts of the app and in my wifi settings on my phone but when trying to send a chat message it would say it wasn't connected. It worked about 50°/• of the time but it was the only way to communicate on the high seas. Lastly, it is hard to tell where the new message is when you have multiple conversations.
It had a lot of stuff we needed to get info on our excursions, what was going on, access to our pictures and even the menus for the dining. It made things real easy.
The Carnival Hub is way better than the old paper Fun Times! It is really convenient to see what is happening in the ship all week and to be able to receive reminders of events that you plan on attending. It is also very convenient to use the app to see the dinner menu and make table reservations. I only wish that you had access to the Carnival website to book future cruises.
The hub is supposed to be a good way to keep tabs on your friends with the chat feature, but it is spotty at best for this. All too frequently, messages were lost or delayed, sometimes for hours, making useless. Even when it works, it seldom pings the receiver, so you don't know you are getting that message.
The app was great for the ship map, menus, activity schedules etc. It was nice to have the menus available and see the daily schedule. Having the "ship time" available was very helpful as was access to my account. We didn't use the chat feature since it was an extra charge.
It was a great experience just wish we'd a had a little bit more understanding of how it all worked beforehand giving a little bit more detail as to win the hot tubs would have been great
SUPER ANNOYING NOTIFICATIONS WITH NO WAY TO TURN THEM OFF! Terrible frustrating experience. I had the hardest time getting this thing to work WITHOUT putting my phone into airplane mode (DONT WANT AIRPLANE MODE!)...finally it just started working somehow. But it doesn't have all the menus, some menus are wrong, and for some bizarre reason none of the ship's qr codes aren't scanning on my phone. Some ship maps don't display properly. Overland very poor QA on this app...shows real lack of UAT
Definitely a great resource once you're on the boat for maximizing time if you use the planner & favorites feature. We also used it to see menus, view schedules, make purchases and see our charges. Good to download early, but you can't tell how helpful it will be until you're on board.
Clear and precise to use. Every aspect showed the skill and functionality needed and made the experience easy and stress free.
The app is helpful but unfortunately the chat did not work during our cruise. Unfortunate! During the cruise there were many announcements, and they were super hard to hear in our stateroom and in truffles restaurant. I think they should send announcement notifications to the app. This would strengthen the communication. The menus were also not working most of the time. The app needs some work!
