Extremely unreliable. It goes through carrier's server first, instead of directly through wifi. Their server often won't properly relay commands to my thermostat. I'll turn the temperature up one degree on the app, and I'll think it went up, but then half an hour later I'll wonder why it's still cold, and the actual thermostat will still be on the previous temperature. When it does work, it works great. But it only works 90% of the time, so it's not reliable at all. Don't use Carrier thermostats
Not a terrible app, but not good either. The app is clearly not designed for Android phones. Most of the buttons go off the screen and the text overlaps at parts. There isn't any way to change the scale and zoom out. Basically I can do a few things from the app, but for anything more complex (like changing the schedules), I'll just walk over to the wall unit instead.
I came back to edit this with fewer stars, but it's as low as it can go. This is probably the most annoying app I've ever used. I'm disabled and depend on this to work my thermostat when I'm not in my chair. The unreliability of the connection is a major problem. This thermostat was installed by the builder, and I've heard that they no longer use Carrier due to reliability issues. I will have to spend the money for a better system. It's too bad, they were close. previous review follows: Minor gripe: App forces itself into landscape mode and won't allow you to use the 'back' button to return to other apps- you have to exit the app by using the 'running apps' button and killing it. Major gripes: The "keep me signed in" checkbox is completely useless- it requires me to log in every time, and frequently won't connect. The schedules cannot be set up via this app. Overall, this app causes too much frustration to be worth the small and sporadic convenience.
I have to log in every time I want to change the temperature. Such a simple issue. It doesn't connect directly through WiFi like most smart devices. This thermostat is becoming a dinosaur very fast. Unless they update soon I'd go for another brand of thermostat. It's usable and gets the job done reliably but it's just very quirky and annoying.
I agree with the others', unfortunately, negative reviews. Unreliable. The app sometimes works. Often says it can't connect to wifi for no apparent reason (when everything else using wifi is fine), leaves notifications on top of the screen even after reset. And, yes, most of the time requires re-logging in. This capability for remotely controlling the system is a major reason we bought Carrier's unit! Totally unacceptable that after several years it remains unfixed.
Needs improvement, and it looks like Carrier has abandoned this app (last updated August 2017?! 🤦♂️). The basic concept is pretty cool; mirroring the layout and controls on my Cor home thermostat to my phone/tablet. However, the app itself is clunky and the UI does not scale well to devices with smaller screens (I'm using a Pixel 3). It also does not remember my username and password, despite my marking the "Remember" checkbox every time I log in.
Terrible layout as it takes up the full phone screen and the option to turn off the AC system isn't viewable, so you can't turn it off at all and only adjust the temperature. Also, you constantly have to sign in everytime you want to adjust the temperature, even when you select the "remember me" option. It's a terrible app overall.
Somehow the worst app I have ever used! It only works about half the time. It logs you out constantly, even if you select "keep me signed in." Sometimes it refuses to sign you in at all. It only displays in landscape which is very user unfriendly due to the format. When you're attempting to schedule times/temps you have to do everything multiple times because it constantly changes your settings. I will be buying new thermostats (NOT CARRIER) soon because this app is so awful. Total time waster!
Worst app ever. Almost impossible to use. Crashes frequently. Arbitrarily changes entered values. Logs you off. Makes you log in again. Impossible to use cached login credentials because iris sensors displayed at a 90 degree angle to your head. Can't rotate phone. Altogether, the most buggy, worthless app I have ever experienced. Worth buying a different HVAC system just to be able to control your comfort.
This app is horrible. I think Carrier just gave up on it. I thought trying to program the thermosat's schedule from my phone would be easier. I was terribly mistaken! Changes don't save and copying a schedule from one day to another just won't work. Also simple things, like getting it to hold a certain temp, are dodgy at best.
I'm not certain why the app is so hated. I have been using it for about two years and the app has performed just fine. I do not hate that it displays in landscape. Newer phones are narrower and it would be difficult to adjust settings in portrait. I have occasionally had settings not stick but its been because I've forgotten to hit save before navigating back. I will agree that exiting the app is awkward but in android you can just use all recent and swipe it closed.
Worst app on my phone. Yes, I can control my thermostat from my phone, but the reports have never fully worked. Never remembers login. This thermostat cannot be easily integrated with other home automation. I was also told by the Carrier installer that no other thermostat would provide full functionality. This is not true. For the same price I could have had the Nest which has much more funtionality, reports, support, and smart home integration. Carrier has not updated this app in 3 years.
Just horrible. The app only works in landscape mode. The controls are not intuitive. There is a check box to remember your login information that doesn't work so you have to login each time you use it. To top it off, my password app won't autofil. It might be the worst functioning app on my phone. I would steer everyone away from purchasing the thermostat because the app is so bad.
Used to be a mirror of the thermostat controls. Now completely unusable. Refuses to log in with known good credentials that can be used on the web interface. This app has always been unreasonably slow, forgetting logins, and doesn't resume from background well at all. Guess this finally means I need to replace this with a competing thermostat.
Forced landscape mode and huge fonts render the UI unusable. A few weeks after initial setup the thermostat apparently decided to revert to the previous owner's registration?! I have not been able to re-register or otherwise connect to app/t-stat ever since. Seeing the poor reviews and app last updated almost 4 years ago set the bar pretty low but Carrier still managed to disappoint. Truly awful.
Worst app around. Says Wi-Fi is connected, but I'm unable to get the app to work on my phone. Made several calls to installer for help, but never called back. Would strongly recommend finding a different thermostat if you are truly looking for something you can control with your phone.
Less than useless: A time waster. Requires a 4-digit code that "can be found during installation." That would be great for the former owner of the house. Does me no good at all. Where else is the code? Impossible to say, since the font on the message is huge and not scalable and further information is cut off and not scrollable. Hence, go away. Okay, will do.
One of the worst designed apps I have ever seen. Despite the terrible 1.6 rating, they refuse to fix it. Carrier doesn't care about their customers. This app is so horrible it's enough to make you want to just get rid of the entire system and never buy anything from Carrier again. This app is so Mickey Mouse that when it kicks you out and forgets your password you must call them to get a new one. And that happens every few months!!!
Use other app. Spent half an hour trying to make this work without success. If you have the Cor 7c model use the cor smart home app. This unit came with our home and I hate it, not a smooth navigation and takes too many buttons to navigate through menus and setups. Once you get your cor7c connected to wifi, open the other app and setup was easy and worked flawless. Was able to setup my schedule simple and easy to help with my peak ours. Now I can adjust tstat in bed like the lazy person I am.
App is unstable. It refuses to log in for hours at a time. When it does log in it is not current. For example my thermostat shows 72 degrees but app shows a different temperature. This app needs an overhaul. What good is having remote access to your thermostat if it doesn't work half the time.
Awful app. I cannot connect to my thermostat at all. The app asks for a 4 digit pin code, but the thermostat give me a 6 digit code. The website is primitive and gives me the same issue. The app appears primitive, is forced landscape mode and often doesn't load at all. Possibly the worst app I've ever attempted to use.
I previously gave this 1 star, but since I was finally able to connect the thermostat to Wifi and link the account, I've upgraded my review to 4 stars. It still seems to be loading data (says please wait) for an extremely long time on the Geofence setup step, but I think it's just having trouble locating my address, which is a new residence, so might not show up in their geocoding database yet.
Using this app is like driving nails thru your fingers. I asked the service tech when he serviced my A/C to fix the thermostat. He said it is a piece of junk that Carrier should replace for their customers. It just doesn't work so he did nothing. I will purchase a new thermostat that will work properly. If I could rate this thermostat as a minus 2 stars, I would certainly do that but it will not allow me to do it.
Well I tried to contact the developer listed but email was rejected. Like others loved this app but drives me nuts daily now that it refuses to remember my login. Edit: Changed to 3 stars, suddenly it's working and remembering my login without issue. No update done to the app though, but I did do a factory reset to the thermostat itself and set it all up again.
Hot steaming pile of abandon ware. I replace my filter and reset the date on the thermostat. The app on my phone doesn't see that I reset the filter maintenance and bugs me to do so. Even worse the button to reset it on the app is only partially displayed and you can't click it to reset. It also will randomly forgets your user/pass so you have to manually rekey that in to access your thermostat. Buy an ecobee instead!
