CARROT Weather

Weather prediction is good, but the Android widget never updates--I have to click on the widget to get the actual current temperature, which makes the widget useless--it's just an icon. It probably works very well on iPhone. I reported this issue a while ago, and it was met with surprise, but no solution.

The app is still decent. But with it being so far behind the iOS version I find it hard to switch back and forth. I've unfortunately had to change apps that have better synchronisation between iOS & android for that very reason. Hope it one day gets an update but not holding my breath since it's been almost 2 years now for Android.

No widgets without paying (and even then, only two options), and no notification tray. Looked like maybe a cute joke app, and the geography test wasn't completely uninteresting, but was looking for a weather app, not a game with a weather demo. I'd be willing to pay to remove ads or additional features, but only if I'm sure the app is worth it. Having been uninstalled, it doesn't do anything to make it worth it.

There is actually a lot to like about this app. The main interface quickly gives most of the information I need for the day and week. I was all set to make it my main weather source. However, there are no maps! Apparently the maps are awesome on iOS, but they are completely unavailable on android. This is totally unacceptable. Don't bother doing a port if you aren't going to include the bare necessities. And I accidentally paid for a year of premium before realizing the app was worthless junk, so I guess they should be congratulated for scamming me out of 4 bucks.

First and foremost, this app does look and work great. But it was still a let down for me. I downloaded it because I saw how awesome it was on my wife's IPhone. This version is lacking comparatively. The snarky voice isn't the same, and you can't use the widgets unless you subscribe to the premium service which is $3.99 a year. Even then there's only 2 basic widgets, ads removed and a weather time machine. I'd pay a one time fee for that but not a recurring subscription.

I used to think carrot was good but now after having it for almost 2 years. I am dumping it. Its weather predictions have gone south. Can't get an accurate prediction. Its supposed to snow this week and carrot only says partly cloudy. We are supposed to get 8". Something wrong here. Plus no radar still after 2 years. No update to our version of the app but Apple phones get a new version entirely. I also paid for premium and it wasn't worth it. Do yourself a favor and avoid this app on android. They do not care about android customers. Defiantly do not waste your money on premium. You will never see a benefit from it especially since they refuse to update it.

The app is fun and it provides funny little messages correlating with the weather outside. I only rate it three stars because I have noticed its always a few degrees off from the actual temperature. I got the premium for 99 cents a month, and it wasn't really worth it. All in all if they added some better premium features, and made the thermometer more accurate it would be a 5/5 stars.

Recent update fixed location search issue! This is a pretty fun app, overall. Pros: accurate weather, fun interface, fun extras. Cons: $4/year but without most features of the iOS app, widgets limited (only option is current conditions with snarky comment), no notifications or app bar options. Due to its accuracy, it's currently my weather app of choice, but I'm not particularly happy about paying for something but still losing out on most features.

This app came up in multiple consumer privacy protection lists. The weather is a little sparse. It has temp, sky cover and rain chance. Wind shows speed and direction by hour when you click on the hour. Visibility, humidity, pressure, dew point, UV index are all listed by hour when clicked. There is no radar, and does not list sunrise or sunset. Can't see earlier in the day. No moon phase, so it has limited usefulness, but does have an awesome mini game with the map, and a punchy personality.

The app is a complete disgrace compared to the iOS version. The voice is awful. The options are basically non-existent. Premium has a purpose on iOS but just removes ads and grants the widget that should be free on Android Doesn't seem to auto refresh the widget often, if ever. It's so disappointing that I honestly question if it's a fake. Premium at the very least is basically a scam.

Dont waste your time on this app. You MUST give it location permissions to work. Despite there being a location sesrch bar (powered by google) it refuses to return a single search result no matter what you search for (I tried "Dallas", "USA", even single letters to see what it would return) and every single time it responds only with "can not show search results". Tried using mobile data and wifi which was working successfully for other apps at the time. In short, it does not work period.

Good app, terrible widgets. Started the free trial in order to try them out, but they took up a whole lot of screen with quippage (tolerable) and empty space (intolerable). Cancelled the subscription. Would pay for a good widget with just solid high density weather info. Despite the jokey personality stuff, this is a sensible appthat delivers plenty of info immediately you open it, on one screen without scrolling. Pretty much all I ask.

Outdated and missing all features that are available in version 5.4 and recent. It's not worth paying for the subscription. The app has been neglected. I'd only pay for the subscription if the app was updated to the iOS version and given the same features. Don't waste your time. Go for a different, better app. Like Foreca Weather app. Their app is up to date, customizable, has weather alerts, and has a widget...all for free. Worth 3 stars only.

Great app with useful information, such as nearest rain fall (distance and direction) so great for when traveling. For those reviews that said you can't silence the voice obviously didn't read the settings (drop down arrow in top right -> settings -> speech synthesizer). Being able to pick your humor setting is also hilarious.

The Android app isn't even half as good ad the Apple version. A friend of mine on IPhone showed me the app and it looked hilarious and then to my dassapointment, it is almost not at all like the Apple version. The basic parts are there but it just isn't as streamlined, and the bot says completely different things even when our settings are exactly the same.

It could have been a great alternative to DarkSky on Android. I had even paid for the premium service based on the services available. At least on the Android app, the only feature the premium service provides is a time-machine for the last 70 years. If a minute-by-minute rain forecast and data sources (as promised on the website) are implemented on the Android App, I would happily resubscribe. For now, I have cancelled my subscription because of lack of DarkSky like features in the premium service provides. The app itself is fine, the features are minimal on Android.

Something broke. We Android users cannot look up other locations unless they were previously saved to recent searches. So we can't add new locations to the list. This ruins the app until that's fixed. Otherwise, I like this better than Weather Underground. Excellent UI. Clear forecasts.

I'm very disappointed with this app. the reviews that said you could display both f and Celsius at the same time which is just not true. Maybe in an earlier beta version you could but not now. Do not download this app if you're looking for that particular feature additionally the user interface looks like it was done in the 1990s super old and outdated and weird. The humor aspect is nice but a little bit kitchy and completely uneeded.

Paid for yearly subscription. Been using the widget and have loved the witty text that your writers create. With the Dark Sky API service still available till the end of 2022, it is very accurate and helpful. I am willing to continue to pay for the yearly subscription so long as the app is continually updated and the weather data is as accurate as Dark Sky. Edit: -1 * Please update your app. It been almost a year. You will loose another subscriber if you can't update at least every 6 months.

Love it so far, already recommended it. It's hilarious & makes me wanna look at the weather just to see what it'll say to me. It's easy to use & the scavenger hunt & changing backgrounds are really cool. For my criticism- to have different types of voices (male and female, like Bixby does) a Samuel L Jackson would be perfect for the app! Also for the oculus eye to go back to the beginning of her script. Apparently I "out-poked" her & now she just cycles through the same "pleasure" script.

Moved from iPhone to Android and the iOS version is so much better. The Android version is stripped down and does not have most of the options iOS Carrot has. Please, get the Android version up to par with the iOS version. Loved it on my iPhone, but the Android version is heavily lacking. Update: contacted company and asked when the Android version would get feature updates. They responded with "we're working on it". Over a month later and still no updates. Just lost a subscriber. -1 star

If you're here because of the Verve article, try one of the other recommended apps. Carrot is funny and entertaining, but broken and useless as a weather app. The location search is busted, so if you don't have google location services enabled or you denied gps permissions at setup, you're SOL unless you happen to live in NY, Moscow, London, or Tijuana. Enabling all permissions and services and restarting the device doesn't fix it.

I downloaded this after today's Cortex podcast as the widget (on iOS) sounded amazing: switching from hourly to daily forecast to Rain details, etc. But it seems the widgets created for Android are quite anemic, lacking the ability noted above or any customizability at all. I may totally be missing something, but it would be quite a bummer if Android's widget lacked as much utility as it seems to. I honestly look forward to being wrong! FWIW, I am a premium member.

App is miles better on iOS, the dev adds new features to iOS version all the time but hasn't updated the Android version since mid-2020. As a result it has the same basic jokes and decent weather info (from Dark Sky) but less than half the features I had from Carrot Weather on my iPhone. Also full of trackers and ads unlike iOS version. I'd pay for premium if it was anywhere close to parity with the iOS app. But it's far from it.

Wonderful weather app. Both stelarly designed and hilarious. No weather map, but not really a problem. I wish the personality ranks wouldn't pick lines from the more tame ones if you have it on a higher setting cuz it throws off the feel you want from the AI, but at least there is one

I like how the app is interactive and the graphics are well made, but I've set it to my location and no matter what I do it thinks I'm in Russia on my widget and when I open the app. I changed detect location to last location and it still shows Russia. And if you're wondering, no, I am not using a VPN. It's annoying to have to type in my zip every time I want to know the weather, but I am not lazy so it's not that big of a deal.

Yes, it's entertaining. I am looking for a dark sky alternative. The one feature I can't seem to find in any other app is an hour-by-hour rain forecast for future days. Carrot provides that for the next 24 hours but not beyond that. I really need that level of specificity for future days up to 1 week as well. I would gladly pay for this if it had that one feature. Unfortunately, I am moving on to evaluate yet another app.

Absolutely terrible if you want to know what precipitation to expect. The snark can be funny but that's really all you get. It usually got pretty close with expected temperatures, though cloud cover predictions were also bad. I had this for over a year and actually went back to The Weather Channel. It's a sad day and now I have to try again to find a lightweight *accurate* weather app.

A solid replacement for dark sky as far as accuracy is concerned (has their api too 2021). Even had a solid day off dark humor. Simple and easy to use with a bonus Geo trivia game. Only nit is if you use the narrator it doesn't let you change the voice. Premium is only 4USD/year if you want some advanced features and the widget. Would recommend

I denied location access and decided to input my ZIP code and city/state instead. When I did that all I got was a error code saying search results unavailable. I understand that to make this work very effectively location services need to be on however it would be nice if I could at least see the weather in a location I choose.
